Red vs Blue

20th December 1994

Kanto Region, Flower Town:

Red was walking on the streets of Flower town, his trench coat still in use. He had bought the christmas gift for him Mom some days before and kept it hidden in his room for Christmas.

Right now, he was in Flower town for one reason. The trainer yard!

The trainer yard was the only place where trainers could battle freely, You could say It was a whole arena dedicated to Pokemon trainers and Red planned to make full use of it.

"Some trainers there have to be weak, I need to take full advantage of the chance to train Pidgey," Red said.

Trainer Yard:

The trainer yard was a big arena which had been the pride of the town for quite a while, For trainers who were beginners, It was a perfect place.

There were 10 trainers in total, including Red and the black haired boy in question was ready for fun. He walked to the nearest trainer and smiled.

"Let's have a Pokemon battle," Red said and the boy nodded.

They made some space between each other and let out a sigh.

"Alright Go Caterpie!" The boy ordered while throwing a Pokeball into the air.

The Pokeball clicked open and a Caterpie appeared on the arena much to Red's annoyance.

'Is he using a freaking Caterpie? Does he think I'm a pushover?'

Red had the urge to send out Charmander and one-shot the Pokemon but he was never a person to let free Xp go to waste.

He threw his own Pokeball into the air and summoned the avian tiny bird Pokemon, Pidgey.

The difference between these two Pokemon was not the confidence but the level difference which got Red excited.

Caterpie was at Lv. 6, one more level and it would become a Metapod. Caterpie were virtually weak and useless and were preyed on by Pidgey until they became powerful Butterfree that is.

"Alright, Caterpie! Wear down your opponent with String shot!" The boy ordered.

Red clicked his tongue, The speed difference between Caterpie and Pidgey sure was obvious.

"Pidgey, Dodge to the right!" Red ordered.

Pidgey flapped her wings and ran to the right, evading Caterpie's string shot attack.

"Continue with String Shot, It's bound to hit!" He ordered.

In regular scenarios, That would be correct. It's bound to hit but with a useless Pokemon like Caterpie, not all pipe dreams come true.

Caterpie retracted his string and that was the moment Pidgey shot at him with a full blown tackle, There was no way he could evade.

Tackle struck Caterpie and sent the Pokemon rolling back a bit but nevertheless, Caterpie regained composure.

"Use your Tackle!" The boy ordered.

"Dodge to the right!" Red ordered again.

Tackle like all other charging moves had one weakness, Moving in a straight line so therefore, Red decided to use it to his advantage.

Pidgey dodged the attack and followed up with a powerful tackle, It went like this a few more times before Caterpie fainted.

"No!!!" The boy shouted and Red smirked.

'It doesn't feel good making fun of someone but still, Getting an EXP boost made it worth it,' Red thought as he brought out his Pokedex.

He hadn't intended to use Gust in the battle so that it wouldn't be classified as bullying.

"That was a great battle," Red said, "You can forget about the prize money, Anyone else want a battle?"

Route 1:

Red sighed as snow kicked up once more.

"Pidgey managed to hit LV. 10 and Charmander went up to LV. 14," Red said, "From here onwards, They'll be harder to level up and let's not mention that the gym leader Brock in Pewter is a whole lot stronger than I am right now,"

Red felt like he needed to get his hands on a water or fighting type Pokemon that would go on his permanent team.

"A Mankey, maybe?" He muttered to himself and suddenly heard a slight chuckle behind him.

He turned to the source of the noise only to see Blue Oak in full view.

He clenched his teeth as he saw the resident bully of the Viridian city academy.

"So... Red, huh? You want to have a battle," Blue said, "After all, I have to put you in your place for confessing to my Sister,"

Red's clenched teeth loosened and a smirk crept up his face.

"Fine, We'll make a bet of a thousand Poke," Red said, "I needed something to take out my anger out on,"

Blue smirked as well.

"I'm amused, Red Ketchum. Do you really think you can beat me, The Next Champion of the Kanto Region," Blue said, his claim filling Red with anger.

"My goal is to become the next Champion of the Kanto region," Red said, his eyes flashing with determination.

"Come on, Look at your scrawny self, You think the people would take someone like you as their Champion," Blue said, "I am Blue OAK, The grandson of the current Pokemon Master of the world, Samuel Oak and so therefore, I shall become the next Pokemon Master,"

"Hmm, We shall see about that," A voice said, it was opposite them.

They turned to the voice and their expressions shifted to shock and then even surprise, The both of them couldn't comprehend what a powerful person like this was doing here.

"I like this... Start the Battle!"
