13 I could get used to this heat on my skin

Ok, I am going to roll a dice, 1 is Mallow, 2 is Lana, 3 is Kiawe, 4 is Sophocles, 5 is Lillie and 6 is Reroll. And that will decide who is getting swapped with Ash.

Ash was currently sitting on a plane, he was on his way over to Alola for a student swap or something. Currently, he doesn't know which of the students will be swapped with him. Also for his birthday, he had to leave a little earlier before his birthday, so he was given a quick early birthday before he left. Although he is sitting on the plane there is only about an hour until midnight and he officially turns 8 and gets his rewards.

'I wonder how everyone will react when they find out that I'm not going this year. Only Gary, Green, and Yellow know I am traveling. I'll ask Gary once I get back, but anyway, I need to think about what I'm going to do. Alola is considered the most technologically backward region; the only saving grace is Z-moves and Professor Kukui. Also, I guess it's too late for me to try and convince Mallow to be nicer to her mother, she is probably already dead. In the flashback, Malow looked about 4, 5 at the most. But for now, I guess all I can do is sit until I get my stuff.'

About an hour later, it seems like Ash is about to fall asleep when suddenly he gets hit with a wave of information about Pokemon that shocks him awake.

'I will never get used to that, but it seems like I got my stuff. It also seems like there was a bit extra as a little gift since I know the recipe for those weird Alolan pancakes that somehow boost Psychic types and other weird things like that. But how do I open my pocket space?' looking around he tries thinking about it when suddenly it opens in front of him and he tries putting his hand through it, it feels like he is putting his hand in a tub of jelly, and he pulls out a chip and a piece of paper.

'This is my Pokedex chip but what is this?' he thought as he began reading the paper, [hello, you probably already found this out but I threw in a little extra in each of your rewards, you will figure out what each of them does when the time comes. PS This note will disintegrate once you read this.] And just as he finished it disintegrated.

'Well not much I can do about that' as he puts his chip back into his storage, 'I guess all I can do right now is look through my new knowledge for anything extra.'

(Back in Kanto, Start of the school year.)

(Gary POV)

'Man, why did you have to go, Ash, with you gone nearly everyone has come up to me asking about where you were, and I can't tell them until Gramps announces it, and those two edge lords aren't making things better' he thought as he looked at Silver and Paul.

As he finished thinking Oak went up on stage, "Hello everyone, I am glad to see everyone is here, I am sure some of you have notes though one of you is missing, not to worry. Me and my cousin in Alola are having a student exchange program, so they will be back next semester, but until then I want to introduce your new classmate for the rest of this year." As he finished talking a small kid came up on stage.

"Hello everyone I am Sophocles."

(Author's note: yep got a 4 on the dice so Sophocles was the lucky child, which makes sense I do think he is probably the one that would benefit the most from normal school.)

Gary thought 'Ohh, it's going to be one of those years isn't it

(Back to Alola and Ash)

Landing in Alola, Ash was met by two individuals, a man with a muscular physique, who has dark eyes, black hair, a black man bun, and a goatee. He wears a white hat with a rainbow decoration on the front. He also wears glasses with a green frame, a white lab coat with rolled-up sleeves, gray baggy pants with a green stripe and white drawstrings, and some green shoes with a white outline. This was Professor Kukui.

The second man was a tall man, who resembles Professor Oak; he has long gray hair, tanned skin, and brown eyes. He wears a short-sleeved teal collared shirt, which is decorated with red Goldeen and several white circles. He also wears white shorts and blue flip-flops, as well as a watch on his left hand. This was Samson Oak.

Samson was the first to say, "Hello Ash, my cousin has told me a lot about you, welcome to Alola. I am the principal of the Pokemon school and Kukui here is your teacher."

Professor Kukui continued, "Yes we hope that you like your time here, don't worry about where you will be staying. You will be staying with me at my place. But for now, let's introduce you to your classmates." As he signals Ash to follow him and heads to the large building.

Once they arrive Kukui and Oak lead Ash to a room where once he is in he notes 4 other children sitting in a relatively large room.

Kukui and Oak start talking, "Hello everyone, as you all remember Sophocles got transferred to Kanto for the school year, and so I would like to introduce you all to your new classmate for the time being." As he gestures for Ash to introduce himself.

"Hello everyone my name is Ash." He responds quickly. As they heard this they began introducing themselves one by one.

"Hey I'm Kiawe," said a red and brown-haired shirtless kid.

"I am Mallow." said a girl with long green hair holding a Bounsweet.

"My name is Lana," said a girl with blue eyes, and short blue hair with a Popplio.

"M-my name is Lillie," said a girl with green eyes and platinum blond hair.

As soon after that they seemed to hit it off with the class asking him questions about how Kanto is and his interests. And Ash, knowing what he did, went full suck-up mode. He told them how he enjoyed some dancing (despite only really knowing Swords dance and dragon dance). And that he liked Fishing and cooking, and playing with Pokemon. Needless to say, the 4 children had a very good impression of Ash after that. But that caused them to want to talk to Ash more.

Seeing this Kukui and Oak smile and Kukui starts talking, "Well I'm sure you all can talk with Ash after class but for now let's sit down for class, Ash since this is your first day why don't choose our topic today."

As Ash sat down he asked, "Can you tell us what you study Professor?"

Hearing this Kukui smiled and said, "Of course, I study Pokemon moves. This might seem like a mundane field of study, but the truth is that this is one of the most pivotal out there. Movesets are essential to a Pokemon trainer, and my research looks into the effects and strengths of Pokemon moves, finding the best ways to train combo moves, and z-moves" as he pulls out a small crystal and bracelet from his jacket.

"These are Z-Crystal and a Z-Ring respectively, you need both of these, a bond with your Pokemon, and finally a special dance-like move to perform a super powerful attack called a z-move, any questions?"

Ash immediately asked, "What is the dance for it seems like the most random thing out of the requirements?"

Kukui answered, "It is to connect your Pokemon and you, and form a greater bond."

Ash thought, 'If it is just for bond then does that mean if I use Aura I don't need to do the dumb dance, well I can't test the theory now so more questions for later.'

As the class ended, surprisingly that was the school day here you only have one class and then you get most of the day for yourself. And when the class ended the 4 other children went right back over to him to keep asking questions.

So when they went outside he began talking to them, "So Ash you say you like to dance, how did you get into it?" asked Kiawe. "You say you like cooking, what made you do it?" asked Mallow. "Why do you like fishing?" asked Lana. "What Pokemon did you meet in Kanto?" asked Lillie

"Ok, ok one at a time," he said trying to calm them down. Then taking a deep breath

"Well over in Kanto I have a friend, and he loves dancing with Pokemon. He even started his dance club back in school, and he got me into learning some specific dances."

"My mom runs her restaurant in Pallet town, it's the only one in Pallet so I learned from her and sometimes help out when I can."

"I like fishing because it is relaxing even though usually I get Magikarps"

"And for Pokemon, I live next to Professor Oak, our principal's cousin, and he has an entire ranch in his backyard where I meet Pokemon sometimes."

As he finished he was a bit out of breath, and they felt a bit guilty so they didn't ask him any more questions, and instead started talking about Alola and themselves.

And just like that the year passed by, and the classes were non-existent, it was more like recess and class were swapped so Ash didn't learn anything over his time here, then he did become relatively good friends with each of them, even taught them a few things. But over his time the most interesting thing that happened was watching the Pancake Pokemon race thing.

However he did learn two things, firstly Lillie is afraid of touching Pokemon so she is closer to anime Lillie, however, Lusamine seems to be a mix between the two versions of her, which is concerning that even though she isn't insane yet, the possibility of it happening isn't zero.

And just like that time passed and the time eventually came when Ash had to leave to go back to Kanto. They had all come to see him off and it was obvious that they were all sad to see him go.

Ash then decided to say, "Hey come on, don't be sad, sure I may be leaving but that doesn't mean we won't see each other ever again. Be happy that it hurts to say goodbye that means that we truly were friends. Don't think of this as a goodbye, think of this as a hello for a different time. I will be back one day, we are friends after all. So goodbye and until we meet again."

As he got onto the plane and looked out of the window, I could see them all waving at him as he started flying away. He felt happier. Especially now that he only had one more year and then he will be done with school and start the journey.

Hey sorry This one is a bit late, some things happened and this chapter got deleted so I had to re-write it quickly out of pure memory.

Also, I was playing Renegade Platinum, but just as I finished EV training with my team, my sister deleted my saved file. I spent way too long doing damage calculations, grinding, and hoping for good RNG. First tried the Mars and Jupiter fight with no losses, and all for nothing.

Anyway, I just had to rant.
