125 Chapter 125

My eyes narrowed as I regarded him, sizing him up, and Pidgeot rose up at my side, picking up on the tension I felt.

This was the kind of guy I needed to surpass. How do we stack up against him right now I wonder?

I doubt I can beat him, but with how strong my pokemon are right now, I'm sure we could take one at least two of his pokemon for sure, and that's lowballing it I'm sure.

With the questions posed to him answered, and a few more after, Lance casually dismissed the paparazzi and turned to me with a large smile,

"Hello, Jord Odhar isn't it?" he greeted me warmly, "You're quite the impressive young man aren't you? I only recently learned about you, but you've truly accomplished much in such a short amount of time. I saw you even recently captured a Dragonite of your own recently, that's an astonishing feat for someone who usually wouldn't even be a trainer yet by your age." he held his hand out towards me in invitingly.

I blinked, before taking it, "Thanks," I answered back, honestly a bit baffled, I was for sure not expecting to run into Lance today, I wasn't expecting to meet this guy for a long ass time and it's left me a bit flat footed, "I suppose you're here about the fossil pokemon as well?" I asked.

This does present a good opportunity though. I may be overestimating myself, but even then, this could be a good chance.

To get a look at the summit I need to ascend above in the future. To see how far I still need to go.

Just because it was massively earlier than I anticipated, doesn't mean I shouldn't use this chance to my advantage.

"I am," Lance answered honestly, "I'll be blunt Jord, I've wanted to get my very own Aerodactyl for a long time. But, not a single fossil for one has been found in good enough condition to revive. The fact you'd found a living one capable of breeding, is astonishing. If you're amicable, I'd like to purchase it from you."

Well, he wasn't hiding his intentions at all. He was bold as all brass to be announcing it right here in the open in front of these reporters as well.

"You want to buy my Aerodactyl?" I echoed back, eyebrow raising, "Are you sure you could even afford it if I was even willing to sell?"

"It's practically priceless, that I know, but it's not just me, it has been a long wish of my clan to train an Aerodactyl, it just so happens the possibility of an opportunity has presented itself with me," Lance replied, "With that in mind, we have pooled our resources together for this matter. We're prepared to offer you one billion pokedollars and the eggs of any dragon pokemon trained by our clan, that is of course including eggs from my own pokemon."

….Eh?

"One….one billion?" I sputtered, eyes flying wide open with shock. Holy fucking shit. And I thought a Dragonite going for five million was crazy!

That is literally two hundred times the amount of one, and that wasn't even taking into account the add on of eggs.

I would practically be set for life right here and now if I accepted, and all around me I could hear the excited chatter and murmurs of the journalists as they heard the offer as well.

"That's right, and of course the eggs," Lance confirmed, "And I do mean any. The eggs from a Salamence, Hydreigon, Goodra, Haxorus, we are willing to offer you one of each."

Crazy…utterly crazy.

Dragon eggs from Lance and his clan, would be way stronger than your average to start with, and probably have access to powerful attacks that came through thorough breeding.

But-

'Don't let it get to your head.' I scolded myself. The eggs were a non issue, I already knew where to catch a bunch of these pokemon already, I didn't need them.

The money though…holy shit. I don't know what to do here?

"Pidgoo?" a questioned trill from my side broke me from my thoughts and I looked to see Pidgeot giving me a confused, almost concerned look.

He probably didn't really understand the significance of what Lance was offering, out of all my pokemon, Pidgeot was probably the most uncaring of monetary value and such, and none of them really cared to be honest.

Yeah…my pokemon.

It was like a bucket of cold water was dumped on me, and I shook my head, "Sorry, Aerodactyl isn't for sale." I denied him

Aerodactyl is special. Not only was he the pokemon that made Ash's Charmeleon evolve in the anime world, making him a highlight of the anime, he was also the only living fossil pokemon, in fact calling him a fossil pokemon was wrong because he never had to be revived from one.

On top of that, as mentioned, he could breed. It would take a little longer, but considering I'm literally the only person in the world with an Aerodactyl right now, I literally dominate the market on Aerodactyl by that proxy alone.

Besides, unlike the Smeargle I sold, Aerodactyl, has already become part of the team, he even got initiated.

"Disappointing, but not unexpected," Lance took the denial on the chin with a shrug and small laugh, "Perhaps though, would you be open to a contract then? Myself and my clan are willing to purchase any eggs that come from your Aerodactyl, and are willing to put it in writing that we will not breed any for a specific period of time of your choice."

"You're…really prepared." was all I could say in response.

Lance just laughed, "I'm the type to barrel straight into this kind of thing," he replied, "Besides, it was thought up by my clan to ensure more success on the deal and not me. We understand there is a certain prestige with being the sole breeder of a certain type of pokemon, for the longest time in history, only we could tame the indomitable dragon type pokemon after all."

Well, he wasn't wrong there at least. That was the exact reason why I wasn't releasing the easy way to evolve Milotic to the public, or even just selling and patenting the information.

"How much are you offering?" I asked.

"One hundred million for the first Aerodactyl egg regardless of stipulations," Lance replied immediately, "And then fifty million for any after, though that will lower by one million per year you stipulate we aren't allowed to breed them."

Holy…shit.

They really did want Aerodactyl's, didn't they?

It did bring up a question though-

"Why do you and your clan want Aerodactyl's so badly you'd pay this much?" I couldn't help but ask, "You're a dragon master, your clan are dragon specialists, Aerodactyl isn't a dragon."

"I actually get that quite a lot you know?" Lance laughed again and shook his head, "I've clarified this in so many interviews I've lost track. But to be exact, yes we're a clan of dragon masters, but we never said a clan of dragon type masters. We also train pokemon that have the characteristics of dragons, like Gyarados and Charizard, I even personally have an Arbok. We even have a few in the clan lobbying for training the Machamp line because of their reptilian features."

Oh…oh!

The egg groups!

"I see," was all I said with a nod, before smirking, "Alright, I'll accept that deal on one condition."

That was a deal that heavily favoured me after all, there's no reason why I shouldn't accept it. If I can get it in a contract after all, and they go against it and breed the Aerodactyl, I can sue them for the breach of contract, so either way it's a fine for me.

"Name it," Lance replied, a wide grin spreading across his face, "If it's within my power, I'll do what I can."

"It's nothing that crazy," I shook my head, "I just want to battle you, right here, right now."

"Oh?" Lance cocked his head to the side a bit, eyes narrowing ever so slightly, "You really are a bold one, aren't you? I see where you're going with this too, I like it." he glanced out of the corner of his eyes at the gathered journalists.

He caught on instantly, huh?

I figured I'd kill two Pidgey's with one punch, get the battle out of him to see where I stacked up, and show off my prowess in front of the paparazzi who would no doubt broadcast it for me.

Just because I agreed not to give any interviews except to Hilda first, didn't mean I couldn't get my name out there more.

"I accept." Lance declared with a booming laugh.
