A Smiling Trouble

The red light of the Pokeball disappeared as a pink Pokemon appeared on the battlefield- A Munna.

A smiling Munna was floating on the battlefield.

'It's smiling! It can't be, but the psychic types tend to awaken earlier than other types of Pokemon,' I thought looking at the floating Pokemon do a roll and let out a giggle.

"Awakened? Huh!" I shouted at Celia.

"Yes!" she said still grinning with her teeth baring towards me, damn it seems she didn't forgive me.

'I don't know anything about Munna, not even its general moves. I am thoroughly done,' I thought exasperatedly looking at the early moon peeking at us from the evening sky.

Our dexs started the match, not caring about the indictment I was in.

'Ok let's test the waters and see,' I thought and ordered.

"Poison sting, don't let it up."

Cet glowed purple before releasing multiple poisonous darts, impressing me.

'Faster and has a greater number of stings than before, Awakening is awesome.'

The pink Pokemon, rolled around in the air barely missing the stings.

'Come on! Do you have teleport or not,' I thought seeing it take damage as Cet, adjusted to its dodging pattern.

"Psybeam, blast through the stings," Celia called out, pointing her hand towards Cet.

"Dodge, Cet."

Cet looped around the Pysbeam at the last second as cancelling the Poison Sting move took time.

"Gust," I called out, still trying to make sure it didn't know teleport.

"Pysbeam, again," Celia called out making the gales scatter by consuming the Psybeam.

"Move in, Cet," I called out, pretty sure of my chances.

Cet shouted his name and blurred towards the Pink Pokemon.

"Hypnosis," Celia called making me double-check the distance between them, it was too long.

Waves of Psychic energy left Munna and reached Cet, making me gasp in surprise.

"Quick Attack, back," I called out.

Cet darted back and sputtered to stop.

'Well at least it works as a speed boost,' I thought looking at Cet who still hadn't mastered Quick Attack.

' I better use Gust-side next time, the Quick Attack is not reliable,' I thought staring at Celia, who was pouting.

"Heh! I thought this would be the fastest defeat you would face, but do you really have to prolong your loss by teaching your Pokemon a new move," she said shaking her head.

"You are frustrating, Leon."

'Of course, the range of psychic move will be different when used by a pure psychic type instead of a Gastly,' I thought cursing myself for taking Gon's Gastly's Hypnosis range as an example.

Celia looked at me like her winning was just a matter of time, but unlike Gon, her gaze didn't contain arrogance but pure confidence.

Her confidence was making me sweat, but this was not the only move, I taught Cet.

I slowly whispered, "Unseen Reaper."

Naming the combo moves always makes the kid in me come out.

As Cet flexed his wings, the Munna shined before dust covered my vision.

'What was that? She didn't even whisper, I was looking at her,' I thought before looking at the dust cloud covering three by fourth of the battlefield, leaving Celia's side clean.

I can see the other side of the battlefield without the dust obstructing me as the combo move specifically requires shoulder-height dust clouds to cover the battlefield.

Suddenly Cet parted the dust, rising from it, and flew towards the Munna burning with azure fire.

I didn't hear any commands from Celia before the Munna blasted Cet with Psybeam.

Cet disappeared on clashing with the Psybeam, making Munna and Celia widen their eyes in sync.

'They are too in sync,' I thought observing them.

But before they could get over their shock, Cet came burning through the dust and crashed into the Munna, pining it to the ground.

He took to the skies, wobbling, recoiling from the move after smacking the Munna to the ground.

The Munna floated wobbly.

'It's shining ..' my thought was cut off as a loud sound rang- maybe the dinner bell- and floodlights were switched on at the camp entrance and lamps shined brightly at each cabin, making me glance away from our match for a second.

Our battlefield was at the edge of the camp so the lights barely reached here.

"Double team and Brave Bird, Cet," I called out deciding to end this match as I was feeling something was off about the Munna.

Cet circled the Munna like a bird hunting its prey before his double got added to the mix, both burning with azure fire.

I looked at Celia, to see how she would counter this when the Munna once again shined, but this time I saw what was happening.

'The moonlight was converging on it. What does that mean, Recovery?' I thought suddenly less sure about my win.

Two Zubats dived towards the Munna, like burning meteors, but not before it stood on the ground and stole light from the moon once more.

Both Zubats crashed into Munna, the illusionary double blinking off after touching real Cet's azure fire.

"Oh, come on!" I shouted as just before Cet touched the pink Pokemon, it blinked getting replaced with another Munna.

Cet crashed the fake Munna into the ground, before trying to take off with no recoil damage visible.

Guessing what was going to happen, I shouted.

"Dodge!"

But it was too late as before the word 'dodge' left my mouth, a beam of Psychic energy blasted Cet into the air.

'Substitute,' I thought listlessly looking at Cet doing a loop, redirecting the energy from Pysbeam, barely dodging another one.

'I have a great partner,' I thought looking at Cet not forgetting his training even when hurt.

"Tch!" Celia's voice rang out from the other side, upset that the match didn't end then and there.

The Munna glowed once again, so I shouted.

"Gust."

The gales crashed into the Psychic Pokemon just as the moonlight receded from the Munna, sending it spiralling off the ground.

"Move with Double Team and use Poison Sting, Cet," I called out.

A copy of the Zubat appeared beside him, both Zubat's fired the Poison Stings without any delay.

'What am I going to do?' I thought glancing at Celia, as the Poison Stings are just a temporary measure.

She was smirking at me.

Just as the Poison stings reached the inverted Pink Pokemon, it glowed with a purple coat reflecting the Stings towards the real Cet.

The illusory stings got destroyed on touching the Munna.

'What move is this,' I thought confused as Cet dodged without any difficulty, using his quick reflexes.

'He can't take another Psybeam and still dodge the following one, to add to that I can't guess the Munna's health as it used some type of recovery move,' I thought looking between Cet and the pink Pokemon.

"Hold a gust side," I whispered before shouting for a gust.

Cet closed the distance between them and flexed his wings, filling them with flying-type energy.

As I intently stared at the Munna, pink waves buffeted towards Cet, just then Cet flung himself back.

'Cet has to go into its Hypnosis range, for him to use gust, but being a poison type and stationary target for Hypnosis doesn't end well,' I reasoned after testing Munna's Hypnosis range.

I am confused about what to do right now, any use of Brave Bird will end the match with the Munna using substitute and Psybeam.

Gust is out unless it's a last resort or the Munna is incapacitated.

Poison stings get reflected.

The thought that I was going to lose was slowly creeping into my mind, making me feel dread.

Shaking it off, I decided on a plan.

'It's risky and depends wholly on Cet's manoeuvring talent, but I don't know what else to do.'

"Sandscreen," I called out.

As the dust rose, a burst of psychic energy was emitted from the Pink Pokemon making her side of the battlefield clear from dust.

'I thought it would fly out of the dust cloud. How many moves does this thing know?' I thought exasperated at the happy Pink Pokemon.

"Agility, twice" I whispered, not able to see the other side of the battlefield, due to the dust in the air.

'She must be using recovery right now,' I reasoned.

The dust settled to show twice buffed-up Cet, brimming with energy giving me a small ray of hope.

"Double Team, Brave Bird," I called out, making Celia smirk.

Ignoring her predatory smirk, I watched two Zubats crashing towards the Munna-like comets.

As the Sun disappeared during our battle, Cet looked even more majestic burning with the Azure Fire.

The Munna slowly settled on the ground preparing for the repeat of before.

As Cet crashed into the Psychic Pokemon and flew away without any recoil slowing down.

A powerful and swift Psychic beam of light chased him, which he barely dodged.

"How!" I yelled.

The Psybeam was even more powerful than its previous ones.

'It must have buffed itself,' I thought reaching a reasonable conclusion, ignoring my growing irritation at being outsmarted.

'Celia is always being a step ahead of me,' I thought grimacing.

I observed Cet, to see him slightly panting from all the energy usage of the match along with the double buff burdening him.

"In and out, Supersonic," I called out resorting to a last plan, trying to make use of his buffs before he got exhausted.

Cet circled the Munna from above, swiftly inching in, making it rotate to keep him in sight, and started releasing odd rings of sound at it.

The Munna released Psychic energy bursts onto Cet, but they didn't touch him.

Just as I was gaining hope at my last resort, the Munna glowed with Psychic energy obliterating my hopes.
