98 CH36 (97), Route 3 (3)

Today was the seventh day since I had made my way from Dew City towards the last milestone of my trip, Cyan City. The first two days were nothing special, I saw the usual wild Pokemon, spent 3 hours after lunch in the Flying Hall to finish the Roost course, battled a few trainers, while occasionally checking if I could find anything useful.

Well, I actually did see a few Poliwag and Wooper near a pond, but none of them had any good potential. I managed to walk around 50 km on both Palkiday and Dialday, so I covered about 100 km before the weekend came around.

Since it was the weekend once more I spent the next 2 days with my parents at home simply relaxing. Well, at least my mother and I did. My father went to check the Smeargle's potential on Kyoday. I tried to tell him that he shouldn't bother since I did not feel too optimistic about it, but my father said that nearly all worthwhile places he was considering selling the Smeargle at wanted to know its potential, so he still went to do it.

The two of them were slightly disappointed when it came out that it only had 2-star potential, but they weren't bothered for long, since I had cautioned them about it. Besides, we were still going to earn a lot of money from its sale.

On Grouday my father flew away for a few hours to sell off Smeargle, and after he returned he told us that he managed to get 3.200.000 Poke for it. So after subtracting the potential identification fee we still earned 3.100.000 Poke from a single Pokemon.

The only noteworthy thing that happened on Arcday was my talk with Aaron. Well, I made a stop at Dew City during lunch to call Rose and Aaron after filling my stomach. Oh, and that of Nyx, can't forget about Nyx. I didn't order anything for the others this time, since the last time proved that it got too expensive if I did.

Besides, they were eating their lunch inside the space. Anyway, after I left the restaurant, I found a telephone booth and called Rose first. We simply talked for a while. She told me about her school day since her school started again. She also told me about all the training she and her Pokemon were doing with the help of her parents and their Pokemon.

Their training basically consisted of her Pokemon getting down their moves, as well as some basic strength, endurance, and running exercises. Rose also told me that she had wanted to visit us to see me and Mothra, but that they couldn't because her parents were too busy at the time.

I told her that it was fine and that there was still the next holiday. She got excited by that and asked how I was doing. I told her a bit about my trips, and about the different kinds of Pokemon I had seen. After a while, we ended the call and I changed booths to call Aaron.

Aaron told me that he had managed to track down the Sirfetch'd on Dialday, but that they didn't click. Still, after receiving the confirmation that there were more of his kind around Aaron apparently challenged the Sirfetch'd to a battle with the condition that the Sirfetch'd would lead him to some galarian Farfetch'd if he won.

The Sirfetch'd accepted after making sure that Aaron would not harm them and that he would not force anyone to come with him against their will. After coming to an agreement they battled. Aaron told me he used Lucario and that they managed to win after a really hard battle which they nearly lost.

The Sirfetch'd kept his promise and led them to his kin. From what Aaron told me, that group seemed to be the only galarian Farfetch'd group inside Viridian Forest, at least from what the Sirfetch'd told him. Those were apparently all the descendants of the Sirfetch'd.

After checking out all the Farfetch'd he felt positively towards two of them, but in the end, he chose the one that he felt the highest attraction to, even if it turned out to be the youngest and weakest of them. Anyway, after he got his Farfetch'd Aaron started making his way back to Route 4, and from there to Pewter City.

I told him about me walking through Route 3 and we ended the call shortly after. By the end of Arcday, I had covered another 40 km, since I got slightly delayed by the phone calls. The next morning I decided to check the situation of the Fire Chips and rocks while doing my daily check-up on the Growlithe egg.

The condition of the egg was pretty good, but there still had been no change in potential. As for the fire materials from what I could make out there was still enough fire energy for them to last another 5-6 days. Afterward, I had my breakfast and left to continue my trip.

I walked a bit faster than usual to make up for the shorter distance I had walked the day before. So, I participated in fewer battles than I usually do. During lunch, I decided to check the status of the second half of my Magikarp.

It had been some time that I had looked up their status since I only looked at the status screen occasionally to see the result of our training, or the influence of something. Anyway, I checked out my only regular Magikarp first.

'Name: None

Species: Magikarp

Parameters:

Stage: Bronze Stage (mid)

Vitality: G -> E

Strength: G -> E

Endurance: E -> D

Agility: D -> C

Energy Capacity: G -> E

Energy Density: G -> E'

Looking at his parameters, one could see how hard the guy trained. While still behind the dragon variant and the grass variant, he was not too far off. A few more months of hard training and he would reach the (high) bronze stage, which would mean that he could evolve to Gyarados.

The rise of Magikarp's potential in the last few months was okayish. 5 percent were not bad, especially considering that his potential was already pretty high and that the water materials I possessed had become nearly useless for Magikarp.

The Magikarp with a fire affinity was way luckier in that aspect.

Thanks to the materials for the fire type I had gotten for my Growlithe egg and the materials I already had for the water type, his potential had increased by nearly 10% in these few months.

On top of that, the training he had been doing supported by the supplements I have been giving my Pokemon allowed him to raise another two of his parameters to SSS. So, he was not too far from being allowed to breakthrough. I was excited to see what he would look like after gaining the fire typing during his breakthrough.

The last point would be his increase in mastery of his Aqua Jet. I had him focus a bit more on his parameters, so he only had time to focus on one move. Since Aqua Jet was pretty useful for Magikarps mobility I had him focus on it, and he had gotten proficient in it.

After I was done checking his status, that left me with only the youngest member of my Magikarp Six. Cringey group name aside, I checked out her status as well.

Her progress was just as impressive as that of the fire-affinity Magikarp, at least parameter-wise. Thanks to her hard training and the supplements I provided she managed to bring up all her parameters to SS while improving her agility to SSS.

While her potential increase was not insignificant, it could have been more than the nearly 7% it was. The reason she had gotten a smaller increase than the fire-affinity Magikarp, was that I had no dark type materials available except for the Moon's Buttercup, which was a recent addition, as well as black apricorn, and that had already lost its effect. So, I had to use mostly water-type materials for her that she had also started getting used to, which was why her improvement was smaller.

After lunch I resumed my trip and thanks to my faster than usual speed, I managed to cover about 60 km by the end of the day. This leads us to today. I had covered about 200 km until now and there were still around 60 km more until Cyan City.

This meant that I would get to spend tomorrow inside Cyan City, at least as long as nothing big came up. Don't want to provoke Murphy by talking in absolutes. This meant that as long as nothing wrong happened, I would reach my last milestone before the coast itself by tomorrow.

With that happy thought, I left the house and had Xatu Teleport us to our last spot. After I called out Nyx, I started walking. During the last few days, I had noticed that the closer I came to Cyan City and the coast, the more water-type species started to show up.

It started with the occasional Wingull as well as Wooper, and the higher number of Poliwag, yet that was not the end. Yesterday I had seen the occasional Marill, and just now I saw a Psyduck. I was definitely not complaining about the increase in diversity, on the opposite I was happy about it.

The only unfortunate point was that I had seen no Pokemon with great potential among them yet. All this still gave me some fun and excitement during my walk. That and the occasional trainers I battled. Shortly before lunch I even saw my first wild Lotad.

Unfortunately, it just had light yellow potential so I left it alone, despite being interested in having one myself. During lunch, I saw a Pelipper flying overhead, which was surprising since I had not thought that they would fly this far inland. I mean we were still a bit more than 200 km away from the coast, so that was cool even if it was too high up for me to check its potential.

Now one would think if this is too far inland for Pelipper, then why isn't it so for Wingull. The answer to that question is preference. A Pelipper is much bigger than a Wingull and needs more food. They have a much easier time procuring that food at the coast or the open sea, so they generally prefer to stay around those places. Since Wingull are smaller, they don't have as much of a hard time getting something to eat inland.

After lunch, we resumed walking and two hours later I saw a Lotad that I was not too sure what to do with.

'Species: Lotad

Gender: Male

Type: Water, Grass

Potential: Light Green

Stage: Iron-stage (high)

Genetic variation: None

Abilities: Swift Swim, Rain Dish

Talents: None

Affinities: Water, Grass'

It was not really good enough for me to want it personally, but it would feel like a waste to just let it go. After the upgrade by my space, he would have at least green potential and might even reach deep green potential. You know what? Even if his potential is not good enough for me to want him in my team, I could still give him to my father.

A Lotad would fit well into his team. Now that I thought of it, I kind of regret not catching the Mankey that time with Aaron. *sigh* I got a bit too picky lately. Anyway, I challenged the Lotad to a battle and won using Pidgey.

After that, I used one of my CommonBalls to catch it, before I went on with my trip. I put him inside my space and let him out. The space did its thing and raised Lotad's potential to green. I also gained a new habitat that would be left empty after I gave Lotad to my father, but I was not going to complain about more space.

By the time it was time for me to return home for dinner, I saw a sign that said 8 km to Cyan City, so I considered if I should keep walking, but I decided otherwise. Wouldn't want to be late for dinner, you know. So, I called out Xatu and we made our way back home.
