Date: Grouday, 14.17.2181, after Mikail left Oak's Egg Center

Location: Oaks's Lab Charmander Egg Center, Sienna City, Kanto.

POV: Professor Oak

Watching the young boy teleport away with Arthur, I thought back to the meeting just now. I had been wanting to see Mikail for some time now since the boy aroused my interest due to a multitude of factors. Not only mine, but the boy also elicited the interest of a lot of people with access to restricted information.

Thinking back to Mikail's reaction during our meeting, I could admit that it was rare to see such a composed young person. Moreover, with such control over his body. There were not a lot of people who could have read the tell-tale signs Mikail momentarily showed, but my experience made me part of the group that could do it.

From his physical reaction, I could tell that Mikail truly had access to a separate space and that the boy had already concluded that the alliance had made that assumption.

There were multiple theories regarding his space among those in the know, but the most accepted one was Mikail having exclusive access to a Mirage Island due to the blessing of one of the major ones. There were even some that suspected that Mikail had been blessed by exalted ones since he was too talented across the board for it to be purely natural.

That suspicion was also why no one had approached him regarding his space since it was a major taboo to interfere or meddle with the blessing of a legendary. I had long since ensured during my tenure that everyone knew that such behavior was considered taboo and any offender would be dealt with with extreme prejudice.

I had seen the consequences of such behavior twice already and after the last incident nearly two thousand years ago I had cracked down hard on any such inclinations.

I made sure to turn the non-interference regarding blessings into one of the core doctrines of the alliance, and it had become the regular modus operandi of the alliance that any blessed ones would have their importance and security level raised to the highest level.

As long as these people did not turn to crime they were safeguarded by the alliance in the dark, but any blessed ones that became true criminals would be handled swiftly to prevent a disaster from brewing.

After my adventures with Celebi and later on with Mew, I had been granted a meeting with Lady Mew thanks to the friendship I had struck up with the two. It was also thanks to that meeting that I set the rules the way I did, so I knew what could be done and what not to some extent.

Anyway, it was because of that meeting that I changed my mind. Until now, I had similarly believed Mikail to have been blessed by one of the legends, but I had been more inclined to Mikail having received a major blessing.

However, now, after having seen him in person, I was leaning toward the latter. I did not have any validation for that, but that was what my gut told me, and I had long since learned to trust my gut feelings.

Honestly, it was a major boon for humanity if that was truly the case since none of the stronger Pokemon and tribes would strike at a blessed one or their home without being attacked first. They were able to feel the blessing and thus avoided any aggressiveness toward them unless forced out of their respect for the legendaries.

I had felt Mikail's genuine respect for me during our meeting, and his internship at my lab would allow me to ensure his safety for a period while also letting me observe him some more.

That way I would be able to get a better picture of his character and behavior which would decide my future stance toward him. I had promised him the field researcher status if he performed well enough during his internship, and I was planning to keep my word if he proved himself worthy.

I was looking forward to seeing what someone blessed/talented like that could achieve, and I truly hoped that he would not let me down. He had left me with quite a positive first impression after all, so I would be genuinely disappointed if he turned out to be a bad seed.

Date: Grouday, 14.17.2181, after Mikail left Arthur Cameron's office.

Location: Rota City, Rota.

POV: Professor Michael Cameron

*ring* *ring* *ring*

"Professor Michael Cameron speaking," I accepted the phone call while keeping my eyes on the research I was reading.

When I heard my grandnephew Arthur greeting me over the phone I stopped reading and focused on him instead.

"Did you call me to tell me about the thing I requested from you?" I inquired since it had been some time since I asked him to recommend me to that upcoming genius Mikail Geo.

The last thing I heard in his regard stated that the boy was going around the habitats, recruiting some more Pokemon to his group, increasing the number of his Pokemon even further.

Some higher-ups felt that his behavior validated their theory that the boy had access to a private space with abundant resources since it would be impossible for him to support all those Pokemon otherwise.

Honestly, the boy was lucky that the Order and the Alliance had regulations regarding such cases or he would have most likely fallen victim to someone's greed due to his oversight.

*chatter* *le sigh*

"So you're saying the boy settled his internship just now, and that he will be working for old Oak now," I ruffled my hair in frustration at that.

*Arthur talking* *le sigh, again*

"Well, I don't blame you, or young Mikail for that matter. There are not many people who could refuse Samuel Oak, especially when he makes the offer personally.

I also do not doubt that the conditions were quite generous since he can easily afford it, so Mikail's acceptance was a foregone conclusion after Oak personally showed up," I admitted a bit frustrated but there was nothing I could do about it.

This was quite unfortunate since I believed that the boy could have helped me with a few of my research projects thanks to his favorable talents. Chief among them was the research regarding the alternate evolution of Primeape.

The current one was unacceptable for the Aura Guardian Order due to its nature. A point that was supported by the fact that none of the trainers whose Primeape evolved to Annihilape so far managed to control their Pokemon. The circumstances of their evolution and the nature of their being resulted in all of them breaking their bond and going berserk.

As far as I knew there had been 4 reported cases of a Primeape evolving to an Annihilape, but all of them, without any exception, had to be put down. Other than those, there had only been 1 encounter with a wild Annihilape, which was why the species/evolution was pretty much unknown. Even though I personally believed that this was a good thing.

Still, the strength of Annihilape was undeniable, which was why I was working on finding an alternate evolution that could tap into that strength without the accessory problems. I had hoped Mikail's talents and maybe the influence of his blessing could help me in my research.

*Arthur talking*

"Well, no use crying over spilled milk. At least his safety is guaranteed now that he has joined Oak's Lab. No one besides a lunatic would dare to aim at young Mikail now, and even a lunatic would think twice before acting against someone under Samuel. Anyway, thank you for the heads up," I thanked Arthur before I hung up.

I guess I'll have to cooperate with Oak's Lab if I want to involve Mikail in my research. I'll have to seriously consider which one of the projects, I had originally been planning to involve the boy in, I was going to choose for the joint project.

However, collaborating with them on the Primeape project seemed to be the obvious choice, especially since I knew without a doubt that Oak already knew about the existence of Annihilape.

POV: Professor Ishiro Serizawa

"Damn it," I yelled out in frustration after checking out the mail alert I received.

Until now I had been hoping that Mikail Geo would send an application to my research lab due to the many Gyarados he had. I had been banking on his interest in Gyarados since one could not have that many different Gyarados Variants without an interest in the species.

While the current theory among the researchers in the know was that Mikail's blessing was the reason for his luck with his variants, I did not doubt that Mikail's interest and active efforts played a significant role as well, even though I agreed that the blessing was probably to the main factor.

I had even been planning to poach him away in case he ended up with another researcher, but there was no way I could do that with Oak. I'd rather prod a King Gyarados than risk provoking that old monster.

*sigh*

I had been hoping to check out his variants and make use of his luck/blessing in quite a few of my researches. I guess I have no choice but to apply for a joint project with Oak's Lab if I want to get in personal contact with the boy.

I was pretty confident that the information on how to teach a Gyarados to swim/fly through the air was enough to get the boy to cooperate with me, but I would have to carefully select a project that would be accepted by Oak's Lab.

It had to be good enough to at least get the attention of the main lab, or I would have done the whole thing in vain since I doubted that Oak would let me request just for the boy.

The research into Magikarp's ancient ancestor which was said to have been relatively strong unlike its modern descendants could work. The stronger Magikarp could qualify as potential useful starters depending on the results of the research and whether the resultant Gyarados were controllable or not.

Something like that was right up Oak's alley, so that topic might interest the main lab. It would have been much easier if Oak did not think of me as obsessed with the Gyarados line, which made our priorities differ by quite a bit.

Normally Oak would not mind differences in research style since differences among researchers were normal and even welcome, and enthusiasm for our work was more of a hidden requirement, but he felt I was not careful enough during my research.

That was actually my fault since I caused some injuries to my co-assistants during my time working under professor Oak due to my enthusiasm. That seemed to have left an impression on him that I had a hard time rectifying.

Anyway, I had heard rumors about a ghost-type Gyarados in Hoenn, so I had to prepare for a trip to investigate the rumors. I had tracked down a few rumors like this but all of them had turned out to be false so far.

I had yet to see an actual ghost-type Gyarados but my research pointed to the prospect that such a mutation/variation was possible, which was why I tracked down any lead since my own endeavors in that regard proved fruitless.

That was another reason I wanted to have Mikail join my lab. I had hoped his presence would help me get a ghost Magikarp or Gyarados. Regardless, there was no doubt still a few months before Oak would be willing to let his new intern join a collaboration project, so I was better served to prepare for my trip to Hoenn.

Sootopolis City was my major suspect, so I would be starting from there, and with that thought, I began organizing a research trip to Sootopolis City.
