358 CH125 (355), One Trip After Another (7)

The trip to the Mienfoo habitat went pretty well. I was received by a Mienshao, who led me to the area the inhabitants liked to hang around the most. There I began talking and mingling with as many Mienfoo and Mienshao as possible.

I obviously checked the status of each one of them, just as I was unmistakably handing out Riolu-approved snacks to all of them since I assumed that their tastes were closer to one another than to that of a Machoke.

I did test that theory and the few Mienfoo and Mienshao I asked which snacks they liked more. 8 out of 10 pointed at the Riolu snack, and the others mentioned that they liked the Machoke snack more by just a little bit, so I simply used the Riolu snack for everyone.

When the time for lunch came around I asked elder Mienshao for permission to call out some of my Pokemon to help me with preparing lunch, and after he gave the permission I called out the same batch that helped me with the curry cooking at the Togepi habitat.

Like always, the curry/lunch was a big hit with all inhabitants, and we spent around two hours in total to cook for and serve about 2000 Mienfoo/Mienshao in total.

Still, just as it had been in the habitats before, the tasty food raised the enthusiasm of everyone that ate it, so the Mienfoo and Mienshao were more enthusiastic while talking/mingling with me after lunch. Not to mention that more of them were willing to approach and chat with me.

By 6 p.m, I had interacted with a lot of the inhabitants, and after the elders prompt I went up to the Mienfoo that I had ended up liking the most.

Stage: Bronze-Stage (mid)

Genetic variation: None

Abilities: Inner Focus, Regenerator

Talents: None

Affinities: Fighting, Aura'

I chose Mienfoo for a variety of reasons, her potential was great, she was not far from (high) bronze, which meant she could evolve not too far off in the future, and she had an actual aura affinity listed in her affinity section. That she had my preferred ability combination was a bonus.

Thankfully, she agreed to join my family, so I caught her in one of my Fighting Balls. I released her and asked if she had to say her goodbyes to anyone, but she denied it, citing that her parents were on a journey and only occasionally came to visit.

There was not much to say or do in that case, so we went up to the elder that was waiting for me/us and told him that we were ready to leave. I talked with Mienfoo until we made our way back to the reception point and only called her back when Gallade appeared.

My stay at Mr. Cameron's office was a bit short, with him congratulating me for my new member, before reminding me to be back for the visit to the Buneary habitat the day after tomorrow. I made my way back home after that and my parents were waiting for me with dinner on the table.

Like every time we talked about our day during dinner, and mom as well as dad asked to see Mienfoo after dinner, so I introduced the three to each other. I stayed downstairs with my parents until 9 p.m to spend some time with them

Once I was in my room I did the usual before entering Utopia. There I called Mienfoo out and began explaining the situation to her while Utopia did its optimization process. Mienfoo listened curiously and attentively to my explanation and I could sense the growing joy she felt at the development/situation.

As usual, the optimization process ended before my explanation and I used my trusty second thought stream to check Mienfoo's new status while keeping up the explanation.

I was positively surprised when I saw that her potential had risen to the top of purple, missing less than 10% before she reached deep purple. That meant that she would definitely reach light aurora potential after she completed her limit-breaking and broke through to the silver stage.

Besides, I was pretty sure that I could help her reach deep purple potential before that, by using her evolution to finish off the portion she was missing.

That Mienfoo had not unlocked any modifier was not surprising, and I was the one that suppressed the talent activation, so that section being empty as well was only normal.

Her quirks were a bit interesting since they gave me a zen feel but they were not bad, so everything was alright on that front. As long as they were not bad ones, I did not mind any quirks my Pokemon had, so I saw no need to work on adjusting/changing them.

Mienfoo's parameters showed that she was stably in the (mid) bronze stage. I was confident to help her reach the (high) bronze stage in 6-8 months at most, but I was a bit reticent as far as her evolution was concerned.

Theoretically, she should be able to evolve without any problems as soon as she reached the (high) bronze stage since she only had a single evolution, but I remembered that Mienfoo belonged to the small group of Pokemon that evolved really late in canon, so I considered if I should delay/adjust her evolution point a bit as well.

After contemplating the topic for a while, I decided to ask Mienfoo to delay her evolution until all her parameters reached the limit, or with the usual letters, the A-value. I was pretty sure that she would agree to the request seeing how she was supposed to be patient.

The sections right until her condition were as they should be. Her condition was pretty much the same as that of any Pokemon that got their first Utopia experience along with the explanation regarding what was going on, at least on the emotional front.

Mienfoo being healthy was what I wanted and expected her to be since I had not noticed her being injured or ill. If anything besides healthy had come up, I would have immediately acted to ensure that her condition turned healthy, so healthy was good.

Thanks to her aura affinity, Mienfoo's mastery section had something listed that others of her species didn't, aura manipulation. It was only at novice mastery at the moment, no doubt because she only worked on Aura Sphere so far, as far as aura was concerned.

Nonetheless, its mere existence gave her access to a few moves she would otherwise not have been able to learn, not to mention the capacity to learn aura abilities such as healing and creating aura constructs. It was definitely a great thing for her to have.

That only left her moves, and as far as I was concerned, her move list was good enough. She was proficient with quite a few of her moves. Detect, Meditate, Calm Mind, Aura Sphere, and Drain Punch were the ones I was especially happy with due to their usefulness.

The fact that Mienfoo had an egg move unlocked was fortunate, and that it was Vital Throw was quite lucky as well since it was a great fighting-type move that fit her species pretty well.

Anyway, it took me a bit to finish up my explanation even after I was done checking her updated status screen, but once I was done and had made sure she got the gist of it, I called everyone over to introduce her to them.

After the introductions were out of the way, I initiated her welcoming party, and everyone had fun. The photos we took during the party joined our photo album, and it was close to midnight when I declared the party over. The younglings tapped out a bit before that since they ended up sleepy due to how energetic they were the whole time.

Everyone went back to their own places when I declared the party over, and I personally led Mienfoo to her new habitat. I placed it beside Tyrogue's habitat, so her neighbor was of the same type. Once Mienfoo entered her new dwelling I bid her good night and left Utopia. I directly went to sleep as well once I had changed into my PJs.

Since I had no appointments on Giratiday, I called out all newbies along with some oldies and spent time with them at home the next morning. That helped increase our relationship and I got to spend time with my parents.

Well, the document that Professor Oak had mentioned arrived sometime after lunch, so I checked it out together with my parents. The content was pretty much the same as what we had discussed during my visit to the center, I now simply had it in writing.

I went over all points, conditions, and privileges with my parents. We talked a bit about them and saw nothing wrong. Mom and dad agreed with me that the conditions were really generous, so I signed the documents after we checked them thrice.

Still, there was something there that was "new". They asked me if I was alright with them publishing an announcement on their website about my acceptance as an intern at the main lab. The reason given was to inform all other professors that the case was closed so that they did not keep waiting for an application.

I probably could have done something myself, but their method was probably faster, so I checked the agreement box. Once I signed the documents, we placed them in an envelope addressed to the main lab in Pallet City. I then threw the envelope into a mailbox close to our home. Other than that bit of semi-work, the rest of the day was spent chilling with everyone.

The next morning, after breakfast, I made my way to Mr. Cameron's office once again since it was Palkiday, which meant I was going to visit the Buneary habitat.

After I was done with this visit, and the visit to the Pancham habitat on Kyoday, so the day after tomorrow, I would be through with all my visits. Once that happened, I would stop adding any new Pokemon to the family until the end of my internship/tertiary education since this batch was already quite large.

Well, to be honest, I would probably make an exception if I came across a chance to get a pseudo-legendary, one of the royal Pokemon, or a similarly rare Pokemon. I knew myself well enough to admit that. However, I was not planning to go out of my way to search for them.

Anyway, future plans aside, I made it to Mr. Cameron's office at 8:55 a.m and knocked on the door after deciding against waiting until 9 a.m. Mr. Cameron called me in and after we exchanged morning greetings, he called out Gallade, who teleported me to my destination straight away.

Gallade entrusted me to the Lopunny waiting for us and directly left afterward. Meanwhile, I was checking out the Lopunny for no other reason than it being one of the rare Aura-Variants I had seen, heard, and read about. The aura variant was also the reason why I added the Buneary habitat to my options in the first place.
