18 16. A Visit To The Museum

"You won your gym battle?" Ash asked Shu with a surprised face.

"Yep. I got the Boulder Badge!" Shu announced happily with a smile.

"What did I tell you?" Misty said to Ash with a smug face.

"Shut up. I was talking to him." Ash said to her irritated.

"Jerk. So what are you gonna do now?" Misty asked Shu with a curious gaze.

"Look around Pewter City I guess. Ash still has to get his badge so why not use the time to explore the city." Shu said with a shrug.

"I guess that works. Though I don't think he will be able to beat Brock that easily." Misty said to him before glancing at Ash.

"You just wait! I will win against him and get his badge." Ash said to her angrily.

"Oh by the way, it looks like Gary, Nathan and Leaf have already gotten their own badges and left the city." Shu said to Ash as he remembered it.

"Really. Gosh, we're really behind them." Ash said as he grit his teeth.

"You are behind them. He has the badge. Out of the five of you you're the only one who didn't win his match." Misty said offhandedly when she heard him.

"Hey, who told you to intrude in our conversation." Ash said with righteous fury.

"I can choose when I want to intrude on your conversation Ash. If you had actually won your match then I wouldn't be talking like this." Misty said to him as she glared at him.

The two glared at each other while Shu, Nidoran and Pikachu looked at the exchange and then at each other before sweat dropping at their behaviour.

"Alright you two, it's enough. Ash why don't you go train with Pikachu and Misty go visit the aquarium in the city?" Shu said as he separated the two.

"Fine. I'll show her what I'm capable of. Come on Pikachu." Ash said as he walked away with Pikachu in tow.

"Yeah right. You won't win without my help. See you Shu." Misty said as she also walked away.

"You know, if I didn't know any better I would've thought that the two of them were husband and wife." Shu offhandedly said to Nidoran who just chuckled.

"I'M NOT HIS/HER WIFE/HUSBAND!" The two shouted causing Nidoran to jump onto Shu who grabbed and hugged him in fear.

"H-How did they hear me?" Shu asked his Pokemon.

"Nido Nidoran." Nidoran said with a shake of his head.

The two looked in the direction the two went before they also decided to go on their way. They reached the Pewter Museum of Pewter City as they entered and looked at the many things there as the two were quite fascinated by what they saw.

'Man, it really feels great to see all of this for myself.' Shu thought to himself as he looked at the various displays.

"Hmm?" Shu stopped when he saw a digging area in the museum.

'Digging area? Why would they have a digging area?' Shu thought to himself as he looked at it.

He then inquired about it with a staff member who said that it was because the people who came there could dig there and try their luck at finding any fossilized remains of Pokemon or other ancient things from there.

"I would like to give it a try." Shu said to the staff member who was more than happy to help him.

After paying the money Shu and Nidoran entered the digging area and smiled at each other.

"The first one to find something wins!" Shu said as he ran to a side of the area.

"Nidoran!" Nidoran also ran to one side.

The two started to dig around the area and for a whole hour they didn't find anything. But they didn't give up and kept on digging until Nidoran broke open a rock and his eyes widened before he called his trainer.

Shu at hearing Nidoran call him immediately went to his side and looked at the rock in front of the Pokemon as his eyes widened.

"You did it Nidoran. You found something from this area!" Shu said with a smile as he looked at the yellow crystal like substance in the rock.

He then carefully removed the rest of the rock before he went to the staff and showed it to him. The staff member was wide eyed when he saw the crystal in his hands.

"You actually managed to find an Amber. Wait here please, let me please call our researcher." The staff said to him as he nodded.

He waited at the sitting area for a few moments before a man wearing a lab coat came to them as he introduced himself as a researcher who is working in the museum.

"Can you show me the thing you got?" The researcher asked him.

"Here." Shu said as he presented him with the rock.

"This is... an old Amber. I never thought that one would be there all this time. With the we can actually revive a fossil Pokemon." The researcher said in wonder.

'Now I remember! This is used to revive Aerodactyl! Though I never visited the Pewter Museum so I guess that's why.' Shu thought to himself as he looked at the man.

"What Pokemon will it be?" Shu asked him.

"It will most likely be an Aerodactyl. We can use our machine to revive it. It will only finish tomorrow morning though." The researcher said to him.

"I'm fine with it. Can I have Aerodactyl?" Shu asked the man.

"Of course. You found it so it's rightfully yours." The researcher said with a smile.

"I'm glad to hear that. So, let's get on with it." Shu said to the researcher.

"Of course, please follow me." The researcher said to him with a smile.

The three then went to a restricted part of the museum where the researcher took out the rest of the Amber and placed it on a machine and closed the lid before turning to Shu and Nidoran.

"Come by tomorrow to get your Pokemon. I've already registered it as being yours in our records so he rest assured." The researcher said to him with a smile.

"Thank you sir. Then I'll come in the morning. Have a good day." Shu said to him with a smile before he started walking away.

"Have a good day as well young man. And if you're participating in gym battles then I hope you win them." The researcher said with a smile as he waved at him to which Shu waved back.

The researcher looked at the machine and smiled as he looked at the way Shu had gone.

"He's a good kid. At least he didn't seem to be that obsessed with finding a prehistoric Pokemon." The researcher said to himself.

He remembered some of the researchers he knew that were very obsessed in finding ways to locate ancient Pokemon fossils and revive them as he shook his head.

'I guess my perception changed a bit after spending some time with them.' The researcher thought to himself before he went to do other works in the office.
