Steven Stone and Wallace.

The future Champions of the the Hoenn region. Though that was in the future, they were still famous now as super rookies. It looked like the Hoenn region was also sending their best team like Kanto. The other 4 trainers from the Kanto region had serious expressions. They could now feel the pressure of this trip. But Axel was calm as water. However, inside, he was excited, too excited to battle the future Champions.

Axel didn't know much about the other 3 trainers from the starter families so he didn't think much about it. They did the greetings with the Hoenn trainers and Boris spoke up, "Each group would be escorted to a different part of the island where you would start your journey. A bag would be given to each of you with dry food, water, and a tent for your survival. Your task is to catch a Pokemon not higher than rare ranked and train it for 2 months. You could catch only 1 Pokemon. If you were to catch another one, only 1st Pokemon would be counted for the battle. The Pokemon trained after 2 months should also not exceed rare ranked. After 2 months, both of the groups should be here in the camp where the final battle would take place. We wish each of you good luck!!!"

Each of the groups was teleported to a specified location where they were left alone to fight for themselves.

A full silence welcomed them in the jungle. Ryker was the first to break it. "I can't believe that Steven is also taking part in this."

"Yeah, this trip got a whole lot difficult for us", said Lorelai supporting Ryker.

"I know that Steven is famous but why are you guys so scared? I mean Lance is also famous in our region. I think we would do well.", said Axel.

"You may not know much cause you are just a normal trainer but Steven is very powerful. It is all a rumor but I know for certain that he is more powerful than our Lance and you.", replied Ryker.

"Really?"

"Yes." This time it was Lance who replied.

"But we would be catching a new Pokemon and would fight with that new Pokemon. So, I don't think that it would make any difference.", said Axel to lighten the mood.

Axel could feel that the current mood of the group was sad as if they had already lost the battle. He didn't know why they were acting like this when just before all of them had their confidence at its peak. But he figured out why they were sad just a few seconds after,

"You don't understand Axel. It was said that Steven's starter Pokemon was Beldum and it has fully evolved to Metagross now.", said Ryker.

"What are you kidding me?", shouted Axel.

"No. He is around 14 and a half years old. I know that he is from a prominent family but we all are. If he could fully evolve a pseudo-legendary Pokemon in such a short time then I don't think that we can out-train our new Pokemon in 2 months.", said Ryker.

Axel was pacing up and down murmuring in an inaudible voice while the 4 of them were watching him. They could sympathize with what he was feeling right now. Being a promising trainer they knew that Axel had arrogance and ego just like them. So, hearing that some other trainer was far beyond his level would disturb his mental state.

But Axel was not thinking about Steven right now. He only had one question in his mind

'If Steven is such a powerful trainer, what about Cynthia?'

He knew from the series that Cynthia was the most powerful Champion. While watching Lance, Axel figured that they were not so powerful but he was completely wrong. If Steven was so powerful what about Cynthia or Leon or other Champions in the world? Axel realized that he would have to work much harder than he did before. For now, he just had to defeat Steven. He calmed down after that.

"So what about Wallace?", he asked.

"Haven't heard much about him but he is rumored to be a perfect water-type trainer.", replied Ryker.

"We can't just sit here and think that we are going to lose. We would train our Pokemons harder and beat those guys. But first, we must plan for our trip.", said Axel.

The 4 trainers sitting on the ground dusted their butts and got ready for the trip.

"We should settle on food and water first. I realized we only have 10 days' worth of food and water.", said Lorelai.

"No, that would be stupid," said Axel

"Why?"

"Cause we don't have much time. If we want to beat Steven we don't have time to waste on food and water. We have water-type Pokemon so that would solve the problem of water and we could just kill some random Pidgey for food. What I want to decide is what Pokemon we would catch, of what rank? And how much time should be spent on it?"

All of them nodded their head in understanding. They felt that it was the right decision to make Axel their leader.

"I want a fire-type Pokemon.", said Ryker

"I would go for water type.", said Lyra

"I would also prefer ice or water-type Pokemon.", said Lorelai

"I would normally go for dragon type but finding and raising a dragon type would be hard in 2 months. I would just catch something that I like", said Lance

"I too don't have any preference." said Axel.

After a long discussion, they came up with their plan.

1. They would catch their Pokemon within 7 days.

2. The Pokemon should be fully evolved or a rare ranked

3. They would then train their Pokemon for the rest of their time and be ready for the final battle.
