2 The Meet

"And who the f**k are you?" I asked immediately.

"Wow! Easy babe, I was just trying to be nice," he replied backing off.

"So, because you think you are cute, you can have any girl you want, f**k anything under skirt? Well, let me burst your bubbles, Why don't you go try to be nice to your mother, d**k s**t!" I shouted.

"You know, Cynthia, you probably shouldn't have acted that way. If you don't like him, you can just turn him down nicely,"  Shade said softly

"Well... I don't like him, I don't like any guy! They are all the same!" I shouted back.

We went into the lecture theater without saying a word to each other and all through the lecture and even on our way back to the hostel. At around 3 o'clock pm we were all done with all the lectures for the day and were back at the hostel. Shade had prepared the lunch for both of us yet, we were still not talking until I broke the silence and admitted my fault.

"You know I am sorry for earlier today, I was just not feeling great"

"Oh! What's wrong? Is everything alright?" she asked sitting closer to me.

"I don't really know babe. One time we were talking and laughing, another time, I was vexed and lashing  out on everyone. Worse is that I can't say this is what is making me angry" - I said calmly.

"It's okay dear, sometimes it does happen but maybe I have something to make you feel better, who wants to eat 'Amala' with 'Obe ewedu' and 'Pormo kiika' [local food in Nigeria] - she asked shaking her body rejoicing

We were eating and talking about the lecturer today and how short the lecturer can be with his spectacles which are too big for his head like the mirrors of the witches. His nose hole was so wide that the hairs in it was very obvious and disgusting. I was irritated throughout that lecture period. We both laughed and kept laughing until shade choked and I rushed to give her water.

"Okay, I think the spirit of Dr. Boluwade is against us, let us exercise some table manner lest, we die from choking," I said jokingly

"Yes, I... TH...in...k Y...ou RI...ght" she said trying to clear her voice.

We were done eating and Shade seemed to be okay totally. We both laid on our separate beds and were busy with our phones. The silence was too loud that my mind began to revolve around thoughts and I wanted to say a word just to tell what's on my mind when Shade's phone began to ring.

"Hello," she said. After 10 seconds of silent she began to smile and respond.

"Oh! Joshua, I wasn't thinking you'd call early"

I began to wonder. All years of my friendship with Shade, I don't recall knowing anyone bared Joshua. Who could that be? Could it have been the guy from earlier, the cute guy?

Honestly, only a blind man will choose Shade over me. I am more light and with a nice shape, what are you looking for that you can't get? Is it the front or the back? I am well-endowed with these things not to mention my face which looks like the face of a goddess. I am more beautiful and I know this fact. Why would a person who claim to have eyes choose her over me. Shade who is all dark and skinny and dry. I can not imagine to look at her breast without bra, it always looks like a guy's chest. So dry and dried if I am allowed to use that word. How can a guy be so blind and lack good taste?

"Cynthia! Cynthia!" Shade shouted slapping my legs.

"Oh! Shade, wad up?"  I asked shockingly

"What were you thinking about that I was shouting your name and you wouldn't even hear not until I touched your legs?" She asked curiously.

"It's nothing jare. Was just thinking about how time flies, gone were the days we were in secondary school, yes?" I answered smiling.

"Mhmmm issokay o. By the way that was Joshua. You remember the guy who walked up to me this morning while we were on our way to lecture?" She asked happily.

"Yes, I remember. Did he just called?" I asked.

"Why are you acting weird?" She asked.

"Well... He said he'd like to take me out by 7pm" -she said happily.

"And what did you tell him," I asked

"What else? I said yes!"- she said laughing

"But you don't know this guy,"  I said being concern

"Well... Everyone was a stranger at first, even you, you were a stranger before we became friends. You should learn how to make friends you know?" she said jokingly as she hurried to the bathroom.
