3 The Acceptance

It was going to Ten in the late hour of the night and Shade is still not back yet. What could she be eating or enjoying that she haven't done before? Why is she acting all baby about this? I said to myself as I was walking one corner to another corner in the room. It's exactly 10pm and I have no other choice than to put a call through.

"Hello, am still with Josh and we are having fun, sleep first, I will be home soon" she said whispering and immediately, hung up on me.

This girl is funny sha. You went out with someone you don't know all because he asked for your number. So, because he asked for your number you kept shitting in your panties and acting all mad and crazy. How dumb is that. Yes, the guy is cute but is that enough reason to go haywire? I laid on my bed as I began to fantasize

If only the guy had just walked up to me. I know we match with each other. He is so cute and tall. He is my type of guy. Why didn't he just approach me? I am the best for him. At least, I would treat him better. What can I do? I need him in my life. He should be mine, he is mine and mine alone. I better have done something lest, this dry bone will have him forever. I was still daydreaming when Shade walked in.

"Seriously? You think you are old enough to be a night child? Why would you even decide to stay out this late, not to talk of staying this late with someone you don't know at all. Someone you just met today, today!" I said angrily.

"I am really sorry, I didn't really plan to leave you hanging. I guess I was carried away by the fun." she said in a sober tone.

"Well... I am just looking out for you" - I replied

"I know... I am sorry. Come, sit, let me gist you about today, abi you don't want to listen?" she said jumping up and holding my hands at same time.

"Hmmm Oya, make we hear the rubbish you and your baby king's way go do" [let me hear the rubbish you went to do]  I replied

"Ah ah, what's rubbish naw. Well... You know he called earlier today telling me he'd like to take me out. And as soon as 7pm, I had dashed out to meet him up at the front of Tantalizers where he came out to meet me. He appeared so appealing and wore a very nice smile. His teeth were so white like snow that it was reflecting like crystals. Don't even get me started about his aroma, he aromas like damask rose oil and that moment I sniff his fragance I found myself in paradise. When he spoke to me, greeting me and thanking me for coming, his accent was like god of wonders. I realised so many things I didn't when he approached me in the morning o"

"Ehnn ehnn, oya tell me more" I said

"When he took my hands and held me, the atmosphere was like as if we were couples. I could tell that everyone was wishing they were us. Like it was a magical moment. We sat by a table at a corner and he order for just chicken. Trust, I was very shy to unleash my craziness o. You know I like chicken na"- she said while she chuckled with her tongue resting on her lips

"So, you ate the chicken?"  I asked

"No jor, me that I was pretending to be a good girl. I mean I ate it o but I didn't really eat it like I would on a normal day. Me that I will crumble the bones with my evil teeth, I was just eating with lot of table manner. My mouth was not even making a sound, I swear" -she laughed

"Ode"[stupid] I said jokingly

"I Sha use style to eat the chicken to an extent and pretended as if I was okay while I kept on staring at his gaze. Babe trust me, we do say men are handsome but here I will say Joshua is beautiful. Ah! No be small thing!"[for real] she said and continued

"Olorun,[she sweared] I still wonder why he approached me instead of you. Obviously, I am not in his class and you are more beautiful than I am. Why did he approached me instead of you? I think he is meant for me then. Perhaps I am lucky? Well... Did I mention he asked me out? And since I liked him already I don't think there is a need to beat around the bush, I just gave him a simple yes"

"What, You did what?" I asked surprisingly.

"I said yes naw, bottom line, we are dating officially now. Joshua is now my boyfriend!"  she answered affirmatively

"That's not very cool Shade, you just made yourself cheap in his eyes."

"Well... Being cheap is a risk I am going to take." she replied.

We were both silence for about 10min and my thoughts had already gone far.

I think it's high time I gave up about even having to think about him. They are now official. Or, could it be that he is only playing Shade. He may just be making advances to pass time with her. I mean guys do that alot. They will just use girls they know has already fallen for them just to kill time. Especially when their real bae is not staying around here. Or, could he be that he is serious and mean business with Shade? Let me even stop thinking about him abi . But the guy - Shade interrupted my thought by breaking the silence.

"Cynthia, you know you should really give love a chance? Not every one will be like Olumide. Stop allowing your past to control you. Yes, experience can be our teacher but we should not let our past make us. It should only make us wiser and stronger. Babe, let the past go and embrace love again."

"Shade you know what Olumide did. Despite all I did for him. Despite all my sacrifice and even all my body, he still cheated. He gave me the dark and stole my light away." I replied

"I know babe, but it high time you let the past go. Be free and enjoy the gift of nature. Dance, laugh, kiss and fall in love. You know the guy from earlier today do like you and he is cute too." she said smiling

"You think he'd want to talk back to me after how I did?"

"Of course he would. All he needs is a trigger." she winked.
