3 Ch. 02 - Starter Pokemon

And I forgot to mention that in this world, Pokemon series does not exist, be it Pokemon anime, Pokemon games, or Pokemon cards. Nothing related to Pokemon exists. Which means that I am the only person in this world who has any knowledge about Pokemon.

I wish that I had played all the Pokemon games. If I had known something like this would happen.

Oh well, just the knowledge from the Pokemon Fire Red game and the Pokemon anime, which I could barely remember because it's been so long since I have watched the Pokemon anime, should be more than enough to gain a lead over other players.

The next thing I knew, I was floating in a dark space with another screen in front of me.

A screen to create my avatar in Pokemon World appears in front of me with random selections.

I quickly looked over the customizations and changed them according to my preferences. Only basic changes could be made to the avatar whereas the facial structure and body structure of the avatar remains the same as my real body.

After the changes, this is what the screen looks like.

There was not much to change since no major changes in the appearance could be made.

There were 5 different starting regions to choose from which are 'Unova', 'Kanto', 'Hoenn', 'Sinnoh', and 'Johto'. I chose 'Kanto' as my starting region because Pokemon Fire Red takes place in the 'Kanto' region and that is the only region I am familiar with.

Clicking on the <Confirm > button at the bottom of the screen, I was transported to a new location and right in front of me was a sign that read.

After looking at the sign, it was easy to guess where was I.

Looking around, people who chose 'Kanto' as their starting region have started to arrive, each with little flashes of light. In just a few minutes, the area of 'Pallet Town' started to get crowded.

"Woah! It feels so real. I thought this was some weird experiment conducted by the government, but I don't think any government in the world would have this type of technology." someone said from the crowd.

I know that I have to hurry up and get on with my journey or else I will be left behind. Even though I have a huge advantage, but it is only limited to the 'Kanto' region which means by the time I complete the 'Kanto' region's storyline someone in the other region might stumble upon the storyline which leads to legendary Pokemon.

If someone does encounter a legendary Pokemon then, they will definitely try to capture it, which I can't let that happen because I don't know if multiple legendary Pokemon of the same species exist in this world. If not, then the first person to catch a legendary Pokemon will become the sole owner of one of the most powerful Pokemon.

Leaving the astonished crowd behind, I started moving to the North side of the 'Pallet Town' where the path to 'Route 1' is. While moving towards 'Route 1', I noticed there the 'Pallet Town' is much bigger than what it was in the game, and there are definitely more than 2 houses in the town.

Finally, I was right in front of the opening that connects 'Pallet Town' to 'Route 1'. The opening is covered with bushes and tall grasses, and there are sudden movements in them indicating the presence of wild Pokemon.

Just as I set foot in the opening, a large red holographic shield appears in front of me, stopping me from moving forward.

[Quest - Hero's Journey (1/2)

Description - The majority of the area of the Pokemon world is inhabited by Pokemon, and It is unsafe to move in the wild without protection. You need your own Pokemon for protection. Search for Professor Oak and get your starter Pokemon from Him.

Reward - 1x Pokemon (One of the Three starter Pokemon of your choice)

Failure - Cannot leave 'Pallet Town' without proper protection.]

[Note - This is a mandatory Quest and cannot be Rejected]

Looking over the quest, which shows (1/2) indicating that it is a chain quest, and the <Reject > button which is grayed out, I pressed <Accept >. From my time playing Pokemon Fire Red, Professor Oak should be in his Lab, which is a building with Yellow-colored bricks.

Turning around, I started exploring the town while looking for Professor Oak's lab. While exploring, I moved through a crowded marketplace where I saw some players also exploring and interacting with the people of 'Pallet Town' for any Information, but from the looks of it, there wasn't much useful information they found.

Soon, I was able to find the Lab. Moving into the Lab, I was greeted by the sight of a large shelf full of books and people wearing white coats roaming around the lab doing their work. At the end of the lab stood Professor Oak beside a large machine and a table with 3 Poke Balls on it.

I moved towards Professor Oak, and just as I was a few meters away from him, His eyes lit up, and he said.

"Welcome! You must be here for your starter Pokemon."

"Yes."

"Good, You are the first person who has come to get their starter Pokemon."

Before I could say anything, He spoke again.

"There are three Pokemon here." said Professor Oak as he moved toward the table with 3 Poke Balls on it.

"The Pokemon are held inside these Poke Balls. You can have One."

"Go on, Choose!" Professor Oak said, urging me to the table.

Moving towards the table, I picked up the first Poke Ball, and a screen appeared in front of me with a picture of Bulbasaur and some text written under it.

[Bulbasaur is a Grass Pokemon and It's very easy to raise.]

[Do you want to go with the Grass Pokemon Bulbasaur?]

I had already made my choice of which Pokemon I would be choosing as my starter Pokemon. So, I pressed <Reject > and moved on to the second Poke Ball.

Similar to last time, a screen appeared in front of me with a picture of Squirtle and some text written under it.

[Squirtle is a Water Pokemon and It's one worth raising.]

[Do you want to go with the Water Pokemon Squirtle?]

Again, I pressed the <Reject > button and moved on to the third and last Poke Ball, which would have the Pokemon of my choice.

A screen appeared in front of me with a picture of Charmander and some text written under it.

[Charmander is a Fire Pokemon and You should raise it patiently.]

[Do you want to go with the Fire Pokemon Charmander?]

Pressing the <Accept > button, I choose Charmander as my starter Pokemon.

Reward - 1x Pokemon (One of the Three starter Pokemon of your choice)

Failure - Can not leave 'Pallet Town' without proper protection.]

[You have received the Charmander from Professor Oak.]

The Poke Ball in my hand turned in white light and disappeared.

Immediately after that, A new window appeared on the right side of my sight with 6 slots, and the first slot was occupied by a miniature version of Charmander, While the other slots were empty.

'How do I summon my Pokemon?' I thought, and suddenly, a Poke Ball appeared in my hands.

'So, I can summon the Poke Balls of my Pokemon by thinking of it.'

I tried again but this time I thought of un-summoning the Pokemon, and immediately, the Poke Ball in my hand disappeared.

"This Pokemon is really quite energetic!" said Professor Oak.

"Before you start your journey to the world of Pokemon, you need to experience how to use your Pokemon in battle."

"A Pokemon Battle is when Trainers pit their Pokemon against each other. The Trainer that makes the other Trainer's Pokemon faint by lowering their HP to '0', Wins."

"But rather than talking about It, you'll learn more from experience."

[Quest - First Pokemon Battle {Unique}

Description - You are about to enter the world of Pokemon, which could be very dangerous without proper protection. Learn how to use your Pokemon in battle. Search for Blue, the Grandson of Professor Oak, and have a Pokemon battle with him.

Reward - 1x Backpack, 1x Map of the 'Kanto' Region

Deadline - 1 Day

Failure - None]

A quest window appeared in front of me, which was probably triggered by Professor Oaks. I quickly pressed the <Accept > button after reading the quest description.

"You can find my Grandson somewhere in the Lab and have a Pokemon battle with him. The Pokemon battle will help you understand how to use your Pokemon in a Pokemon Battle."
