Play By The Rules

/Halloween Story/ "All you had to do was find them-" My lips shuttered in horror, "All you had to do was follow the clues-" I watched the blood drip from under the door. "COME OUT, ALIA!" They yelled from beyond the room; I ran to the portrait- moving it so I could get away through the hidden passages. Immediately I started fumbling on my feet, and I knew they heard me, but I didn't care- I have to survive! I have to go home! "COME HERE! THE GAME IS OVER!" A male growl rumbled through the vents- I was crying in fear, hoping to survive. "He said the way out is through your heart! If you have the spirit- you can win!" The passages echoed my voice. I felt cold air- the fall air! I kicked open the vent, "ALIA!" I jumped to the floor without care- my life is already near death- I have to do anything necessary. I landed into a bush- stabbing a branch in my leg- I got up in a rush, broke the stick, and staggered to the gates. I saw a car- I arrived at the gate and tried to climb up, screaming, but it was useless because of my leg. "HELP! PLEASE! I'M GOING TO DIE!" I cried over and over again until the car stopped for a moment to reveal a teenage girl within a costume. "Nice acting, very convincing! Happy Halloween!" she waved, driving off. I felt a hand on my shoulder, "Gotcha." I turned to see the murderers of the game, "He said all I had to do was win..." I repeated as I fell to the grass, seeing the knives about to kill me. "The game was unwinnable from the beginning." *Play By The Rules* {|Warning: This story contains gore, blood, death, lgbtq, sensitive topics such as alcohol addiction, miscarriages, death, depression, etc.- If you cannot handle these topics. Mysterious notes were left in many different locations to many unique types of people- none of them were like each other, and yet they were. The first to find a note was a woman who looked like a housewife but raised on the farm- she found it on her front porch and opened it. "To Nykoale, I invite you to be a guest at my manor."

The second was a businessman running to his job, but suddenly the note fell to his footsteps- he looked around to see who dropped it, but the messenger must have passed the crowds undetected. He opened it, "You will have a feast among many like you-"

An older man sees a guy walk from the bar stole- leaving his wallet, and he immediately rummaged through for some cash, but all he found was a note with his name... "Your life is coming to an end, but what if this dinner could change your life?"

A homeless girl on the street found a cigarette but just as she was going to set it aflame- she unwrapped it to see a note. "You'll have all you desire in the world, but you must come to see if your worthy- if you have the spirit to continue."

Last, is a detective searching through his desk to grab a file, but all he had held in hand was a note. "You can bring one guest of your choice, come to this location, and play my game. It'll be fun and straightforward with the winning of a cash prize. Hope to see you there.

Sincerely, Him."

The rest were excited to get money, but the detective none the less was skeptical of a too good offer. The dinner was on October 1st at 8 pm, today's date was September 30th. "Tomorrow is the day." The detective whispered, "Tomorrow."
