Ch.3 Fight With The Glorified Cow

June 4, 2005, Camp Half-Blood

Today was the day a literal storm named Percy Jackson would enter the Camp and that meant only one thing: dangerous quest after dangerous quest to prove myself and complete my goal of being remembered which also implied a high risk of death.

Weirdly enough death wasn't as fearsome as it was before reincarnating, to be honest after living a fulfilling life and knowing what is there "beyond the veil" so to speak, concern over death becomes incredibly stupid. Does that mean I will throw myself at every chance of danger? Obviously not, I'm not a masochist, I'm just freer than most.

In the past few days, I improved my archery something that will probably prove to be useful in a wide array of situations. Athena's kids were now used to my presence in the library, not enough to make conversation, but sometimes people would sit next to me as if non-verbally accepting me into their exclusive club.

Transfiguration improved a lot but not enough to reliably use it in combat, I did not have much talent thanks to Dad not loving my mother enough... Yep, apparently, that is a thing, the more a God likes their partner and the more said partner likes them back the higher the chance of a stronger demigod, it is not 200% certain but it can be a very reliable predictor. I believe this is all because Aphrodite exists, she probably makes love act in weird ass ways.

Arming myself (stealing) with a bow a couple of arrows and a sword I decided to go do some scouting for the time Percy arrives, the first step in my long-term plan is killing the minotaur the second is to sneak out and help out Percy on his quest.

In these past few days, I asked permission from Chiron to do some rounds on the perimeter of the Camp with some help from experienced trackers to develop scouting skills. He seemed delighted to help me himself ranting on how responsible of me it was to directly ask for help instead of doing it alone.

Talking to him I got the feeling he was dejected I couldn't seem to fit in the camp save for the Ares cabin who seemed to continuously ask to spar with me, officially reversing the previous positions.

Best decision of my life, the tips he could dish out as if raining beat every book ever written 10-0.

"ROOOOAR" a deafening outcry could be heard followed by the sound of metal crashing it was time to get into action, so I started sprinting.

When I got there I saw a woman got teleported away by the beast which I assumed was Percy's mother,

Looking at Grover directly on the way of my shot I tensed my bow and screamed "Satyr, get down", I'm glad he was not completely stupid and immediately ducked allowing me to get a good shot in while the monster was busy trying to charge Percy.

The arrow flew in a straight line embedding in the monster's chest dealing minuscule damage, what did you think that after a few days I would be able to hit an eye while Artemis hunters reach that level in years? Please, even with Ares buff on weapons I still had a long way to go.

What I did however was enough to redirect the monster's attention to me while I slowly walked out from the barrier "Tell your master what he is looking for isn't here and that I will help him find it, I swear it on the River Stix" risky move, but always effective, the monster will relay the information, giving me a head start for the future conversation in hell, that's also part of the reason I regularly gave him food (except for pissing off other gods).

The monster charged at me, I widened my eyes at his speed, and rolling out of his way I abandoned my bow in favor of drawing my sword and slashing mid-roll, the result a bit of damage oh his tight but nothing more. The beast launched its attack: a powerful overhead hammer fist, with quick thinking I inclined my sword over my head trying to deflect the hit

"UGH" I successfully redirected the shot however the full force of the strike was a bit too much to handle making my arms momentarily wobbly and knocking me over.

In the meantime, Percy sneaked behind the monster sword in hand (smarter than its book counterpart it seems) and with a mighty leap embeds the sword into its shoulder "RAAAAAAAAH" unbothered by the deafening scream of agony and knocking the demigod over, I knew it was time to act.

Gathering all my strength I sprinted towards the already-dying monster and before he could do anything else I stabbed my sword into his face, another deafening Roar later and the monster completely dissolved.

"And never come back you fat cow" I whispered at the end while slowly relaxing on the ground a bit exhausted, stupid adrenaline.

It was a short fight, but holy Hades was it dangerous.

Things I learned today? Monsters are op when it comes to raw strength, they are stupid so it is always better to switch aggro to confuse them, their speed is also insane. The thing is, I noticed that the monster was trying to capture us and not to kill... what if it actually wanted to kill?... oh well... 70% of the time we would have died.

Getting up from the ground I went to a still-dazed demigod with a horn in his hand, probably the monster's drop.

What a way to introduce yourself to the camp, I said with an awkward smile knowing he just lost his most important person.

He looked at me with wide eyes that were slowly going weaker, then said "Thank you umh..."

"Tom, Tom Rossini a pleasure young hero" he smiled at that introduction

"Percy, Percy Jackson" the boy was now exhausted

"PERCYYYY" the objectively useless satyr came running and hugged his friend, what a good friendship these two have

"Yo, Grov, man you are too loud... let me... sleep," he says while slowly drifting to Morpheus.

I decided to interject "Hey, can you carry him to the infirmary? I think a lost some blood, he might need some ambrosia" ahh ambrosia, truly a pocket panacea for all demigods. It is a shame that mortals can't consume it, as it will turn their blood to fire and bones to sand.

"Ah... ah yes, thank you," he took the guy and started running. In all of this, I asked myself, where the fuck is Argus!

Picking up the rest of my weapons it was time to head back, the mission was successful.

...

"Tom!" a voice called me, "Chiron wants to speak with you, alone" right

"Thanks, Annabeth," I told the annoying girl although I have to admit that she is more beautiful here than in the movies.

"oh and" she stops me with her words

"congratulation on slaying a minotaur, few have that accomplishment"

To that I smiled, she is less of an asshole now "Thank you, I had a lot of help but... yeah. See you" she smiled at me and then left for the infirmary, curious as ever isn't she?

Still a bit exhausted but knowing I could sleep well later I decided to go to the Head house where Chiron and Mr.D were waiting for me with a frown on their faces. Chiron probably because of the monster, Mr.D probably because he still couldn't drink wine. If he isn't too much of an asshole today I might try to help him with his wine problem.

"You wanted to see me Sir? Mr.D?"

"Ahh Tom, just the boy i was looking for, please sit down" putting a small smile on his face he pointed to a chair opposite of him, with the cue i sat down.

"Mr. D said he had a couple of questions for you, and i elieve you must have some of your own, without further ado, lets get down to business shall we?"
