Expedition [2]

The second day was going well as Mason had already collected another 1240 system points, bringing his total up to 2780.

Remi and he were currently taking a break from hunting, so he had plenty of time to check out the System.

'Should I use my points to do ten Normal Spins? I could make some serious gains, it could also be trash. I guess that's just the risk I'll have to take.'

'System, use ten Normal Spins.'

[Using ten Normal Spins]

[Reward received: Common, Origami Paper]

[Reward received: Common, Pretty Flower]

[Reward received: Common, Hand Soap]

[Reward received: Common, Miniature Statue]

[Reward received: Common, Dirty Sock]

[Reward received: Common, 1 year of Mana Practice]

[Reward received: Rare Passive Skill, Tough Body]

[Reward received: Common, Corn Seed]

[Reward received: Common Passive Skill, Heat Resistance]

[Reward received: Common, Mana Regeneration Artifact]

Mason looked at each of the notifications individually, most of it was garbage. He did see a couple of things he liked though.

'Extra years of Mana Practice never go wrong, I also got two passive skills and an artifact. That's pretty good!' Mason thought as he smiled.

He decided to check out the passive skills first since he didn't have many of those yet.

[Tough Body: Your physical body gets tougher, making it less easy for opponents to cut your skin. Take 1% less physical damage.]

[Heat Resistance: Gain more resistance to heat, you will be able to last in hotter environments.]

They were both useful in their own ways, Heat Resistance would be useful in certain places. Tough Body was a good skill. 1% Less physical damage, no level was stated.

'That means that even if a level 1000 hits me, I'll take 1% less damage than usual. Even though I'd still be dead, that's pretty cool.' Mason knew that if he got upgrades on these types of skill and gained immunity that he would be like a God.

Next, he decided to check out the artifact. It was only a common artifact so he didn't expect a lot but he was pleasantly surprised.

[Common, Mana Regeneration Artifact: Regenerate mana 10% faster]

It wasn't a long explanation but Mason instantly understood the benefits. There was a Common version, so there would naturally also be higher rated versions.

These versions would be slightly overpowered because he would be able to spam spells like a moron.

Just as Mason was about to enter dreamland, he heard a feminine voice.

"Mason, we've got enemies! They aren't beasts!" Remi said.

'They aren't beasts, so they're other students?' Mason tried to work it out.

He immediately understood when he saw who popped up though, it was the guy he humiliated in the cafeteria and his gang.

'This guy also isn't scared of the princess? How do I keep offending these big-shots?' Mason thought with a wry smile.

"You are willing to be expelled over a small little joke? That's so childish, you probably won't get far in life with that attitude." Mason told the guy.

Remi now understood too.

'This guy has been offending people while I wasn't there again, this isn't the first time.' Remi rolled her eyes as her face slightly relaxed.

She knew that if Mason offended people he was confident in taking them on, she probably wouldn't even need to move this time since she saw the smile on Mason's face.

And she was right, Mason was so confident he could beat this group alone that he didn't even need to use his new element.

"How dare you! D-Do you know who I am! My name is Llo-

"I still don't care who you are, if you want to fight just start already. Unlike some people I actually have some stuff to do you see." Mason cut him off.

"I'll kill you!" The guy yelled as he exploded in anger and rushed towards Mason.

Mason didn't mind and was thinking what to do with these guys, he couldn't kill them. Remi was also there so he didn't want to turn the fight into a bloodbath.

'I'll end it as quickly as possible.' Mason thought as he used a single skill.

"Ice Wave."

The nameless guy's face changed into one of fear as he saw the massive wave coming towards him and his friends. They wouldn't be able to survive this even if they were twice as strong.

Only the leader could dodge in time, the rest of the group however weren't very skilled. They all got frozen instantly, the leader knew he wasn't strong enough to even put a scratch on Mason's body.

"I'm so sorry, I couldn't recognize your greatness good brother. I'll leave immediately so please release my friends and we'll scram as fast as possible." He said.

Mason just scoffed as he turned around and walked away, he couldn't be bother by this type of guy. He wouldn't make it far in life since he didn't know who to mess with.

Remi looked at Mason with a surprised look on her face, that guy wasn't some nobody in the academy. He would probably also be ranked top 10 in the year.

Mason had destroyed him and his group with just a single spell.

She smiled as she only had one thought in her mind: 'What monstrous talent.'

After that little children's quarrel, or so Mason called it. They went back to beast hunting immediately. Remi had asked Mason if he didn't need to regenerate some mana after that spell, but Mason just smiled and kept walking.

'I have a feeling we're in first place already but you never know what could happen, we have to be sure.' There's no way in hell he wouldn't get that top student spot.

After a while, they ran into some beasts again. Remi asked Mason why he didn't just used those powerful spells the whole time since it would be way quicker.

He decided to play one of his most powerful cards, tactical lying.

"I wouldn't last long enough for a day if I kept using those spells. It's also dangerous since they are very destructive and they would lure more beasts towards us."

He wasn't fully lying but he wasn't telling the whole truth, this had become his new skill since he got his System.

"I thought so. Well, it's not like you're not powerful enough to do it with weaker spells so you do you." Remi said.

They fought beast after beast, the night was approaching and they wanted to set up camp.

That plan didn't last long as Mason found a place with hundreds of beasts in it, also known as a Beast Nest.
