Failure: Death

“Really a level one hundred and fifty dying on floor 5 like that would happen.” I whispered to the system.

“Ok you 15-year-olds this is your last trial to become Paladins. Survive this dungeon and get to the third floor and report you are able to go further but it is highly unadvised.” Our teacher said.

“Yes sir!” We all said.

“Now go!” We all headed into the Hells Abyss dungeon where we will be fighting several lesser daemons.

It took me an hour to walk through the first floor somehow not seeing any demons. I made it to the third floor only seeing one or two crawlers.

When I walked into the main aria of the third floor where was a small Paladin camp, but something felt off. I ducked behind the wall and watched as another recruit came into the room from another direction. He entered the tent and then I heard a small shuffle and part of the curtains shifted. I moved over to the side of the tent and placed my ear near it.

“Hehehehehehe Another sacrifice for my assentation to greater heights. Theas new paladin recruits are too easy to capture for their level.” Said a deep voice.

I pulled out my sword but noticed its durability was too low and I would need a full durability weapon to fight properly. Especially if that thing is what I think it is. I snuck away but apparently, I wasn’t sneaky enough because I heard something that froze my blood.

“Your right but let’s get the last one that’s been outside eavesdropping on us.” Another screechy voice said.

I quickly turned and rushed away from the camp and instantly went to the stairs heading to the fourth floor. I herd footsteps behind me and silent curses as I ran away from them. I made it to the fourth floor and smack dab in the center of a nest of scorps I cursed but thanks to my speed I ran up the wall and past them. The screeched behind me and curses as they ran strait into the nests and were attacked. I continued running because I knew they wouldn’t die from the acid spitting demonic scorpions. But I did shout back at them.

“Take that you fucking Cursers!” I shouted while continuing though the bigger fourth floor.

After several minuets I hear the footsteps of the basterds.

“Were going to get you for that!” They shouted.

After an hour of running I was getting tired but I was at the top of the stairs for the fifth floor. I rushed down but as I was approaching the bottom of the stairs I missed one step and it sent me flying forward but before I hit the ground head first a door appeared in front of me opening as I fell through it. I closed my eyes expecting the end, but I didn’t hit anything. I slowly opened my eyes slowly and saw myself sort of floating in midair. I extended my arms and legs placing them on the ground and felt gravity reengage. I stood up and looked around at the wide-open store with an aw look on my face.

“Hello and welcome to the Void Shop where all gamers come to shop and trade how my I help you today.” Said a pretty blond with completely white eyes and a white dress. “My name is Emmeth and I’m the store keeper. So, how can I help you today?” She said with a smile.

“Well Emmeth I was in the middle of a quest that was important to me. I’m wondering if my quest is stopped or will it fail if I’m here for too long?” I asked.

“Well that depends does it have a time limit?” She asked.

“Um no it had none which was weird because we had to be out by time the day ends.” I mumbled to myself.

“Well can I know the rewards?” She asked.

“Two skill books and info about someone from my world.” I told her.

“Well I don’t know about the skill books, but I know there is another gamer that comes from the same current universe you reside in.” She said to me.

“Really!?” I asked surprised.

“Yah she comes here once a week to get food.” She then looked at her watch. “In fact she should be here any minuet. You can weight over there, and she won’t see you unless it’s one of her rare times she decides to go to the Roulette wheel.” She said pointing over to a corner where several people were trying their luck.

I nodded and walked over to the aria calling back to her. “Thanks for the help.”

When I made it over to the aria I leaned agents the wall and watched as people came and went. Until some 5-year-old girl walked in everyone seemed to avoid her like the plague. She had black hair with red streaks in it. Her eyes were blood red, but they weren’t glowing like a demons she seemed to have a small smile on her lips. If it wasn’t for the fact that I know she was a gamer I would have claimed she was an innocent little girl. I looked at Emmeth and she looked at me telling me that it was her. I gave her a nod of understanding and pushed off the wall and started walking over to her. As I approached her my hart started to race like it used to when I lived in my original world whenever I got near Demetiry Shadow. I considered her my girlfriend, but I never knew if she thought the same then I found her body and I just couldn’t live without her. I took the knife that was lodged in her chest and plunged it into my own hart.

I nearly stumbled a few times on my way over feeling like I was walking towards something dangerous but also something breathtakingly beautiful. I made it behind her while she was talking to Emmeth.

“Ex-excuse me m-may I spe-speak to you?” I stuttered.

“Hm?” She hummed then turned around. “Oh, I haven’t seen you around before you must be new.” She stuck out her hand. “My names Eclipse it’s nice to meet you.”

“H-hello Eclipse m-my n-name is Talia.” I stammered and chastised myself for not being able to speak properly to her.

“Hahahahahahaha” She laughed. “It’s ok I won’t bite at least not as long as you don’t insult me or attack me.” The giggled out cutely. Then it looked like something came to her. “Hay you remind me of someone I met a long time ago what was your original name before you were reborn?” She asked.

“Delaine Helena.” I said

Nothing seemed to cross her face or eyes which led me to believe she doesn’t know me. She shrugged but had a gentle smile.

“Sorry but I must have been mistaken. But I have another question.”

“Ask away.” I said a little bummed.

“Well why did you approach me? As you can see most people avoid me I apparently give off an energy that causes people to fear me.” She said losing some of her smile.

“I am from the same dimension as you are, and I had a quest that said that I will get a clue to some one in my past life.” I mumbled to her.

She smiled sweetly and pat my back. “Who are you hoping to find?” She asked.

I gave her a small smile. “Well I considered her my Girlfriend, but I don’t know if she thought of me in that way.” I said a little sad.

“So, you didn’t tell her your feelings?” She asked like a five-year-old would.

“I tried but the day I was going to tell her she disappeared, and I found her the next day dead.” I cried as a tears fell down my face. “I couldn’t take it and ended my life with the same blade that killed her.” I sniffled.

“Why didn’t you take revenge on the people that did it?” She asked.

“Because she had already killed them before I found her.” I whispered.

“Oh, but what about the people that might have hired them?” she inquired.

I looked at her with surprise. “You’re not saying that they could have bean hired to kill her?” I asked surprised.

Her smile completely disappeared causing me to shiver. “That’s precisely what I’m saying.” She replied coldly. “For all you know they were hired and the person behind it was able to get away with it. At least until the world ended.” She mumbled the last part.

I looked down and nodded. “Well I just wanted to talk thanks for the chat.” I said.

“Hay before you go!” She shouted.

“Yah?”

“Here.” She said tossing me three books which I caught. “Those will suite you better than they would me.” She smiled then turned around but turned back. “Oh, and good luck on becoming a Paladin and try the wheel you might get lucky and find something better than that nearly broken sword.” She said then bought her food and left through her door. But said something before the door closed. “Maybe you can visit me in The Dead Crypt.” The door then closed, and my thoughts were interrupted by two alerts.

Warning locked until you reach Level 1000

I looked at the new quest with confusion, but she was a dead end, wasn’t she? I was also wondering why it was locked until I reached level 1000. I looked at the place she left from then went over to the roulette wheal and spun it three times. The first one was the skill observe the second one was a new paladin armor that blocks curses and the last was a blessed holy sword that heals the user as they fight. I smiled then left the shop with a good by and my new equipment.

Eclipse POV

After I left the shop I broke down crying I couldn’t keep my emotions bottled up anymore I was currently on the 31st floor in my hideout. Crying because I just saw someone I thought I would never see or know again and I was so cold to them and lied to them.

‘Oh, honey why did you lie to her if it hurt you so much.’ Florence asked me.

“Because if I didn’t then she would have followed me back here and seen the monster I truly am.” I sobbed as I looked at all of the bodies around me.

‘Aw sweetie you did what you had to, to stay free if they would have brought you back you know what they would do they would have killed you believing you a demon because you haven’t aged in these past 6 years.’ She said in a comforting voice.

‘So, what about them you’ve had no trouble killing them in the past while you saved the children.’ Nobunaga said uncaringly. ‘They deserved it when in my day people that did that were place on pikes or carved into bloody bits.’

‘Noobuuunaaagaaaa!’ Florence threatened.

‘What! You know its true!’ He wined cowering from the angry killer. ‘Besides you know Paladins don’t take kindly to necromancers especially ones that are immortal.’

I sighed as I tuned out their bickering then used my level 99 Raise dead skill to reanimate the corpses. Then set them loose in the lower floors of the dungeon with Dungeon Gate. I had almost completed the quest Deaths apprentice which made me resurrect 100 people to get the ring of death that allows me to respawn like in an actual game. I had 10 people left to turn into undead before I could revive skeletons, zombies, and Spirits as well as get the ring. I decided to pull up the quest again.

I smiled at the progress of my stats I was so close to finally getting to level 1000 I could almost taste it. I decided to head down to the 46th floor and challenge myself a little more to power level myself. Greeting a gate to the 45th floor I step through and was instantly met with several Lytches. I shook my head as the summoned several zombies and skeletons. I drew Excalibur from my inventory and swung at them once releasing a wave killing all except the Lytches in one swipe. But the Lytches didn’t get off unscathed they were heavily damaged and were constantly getting damaged from the holy element in the slash. Using my speed, I quickly cut down two of them in a single blow the other had just enough time to raze its hand before it was bathed in my Undead flame breath attack. I smiled when I saw the Lytch shaped ash incased in a greenish ice. I then headed down the stairs to the 46th floor. As I walked I heard smoothing start to crumble I quickly looked behind me to see the stairs giving away.

“SHIT!” I screamed as I ran down the stairs taking them two at a time. I looked back to see the crumbling stairs were gaining on me I turned around and started saying. “Shitshitshitshitshitshitshit aHHHHHHH.” I screamed as the floor fell out from under me.

I quickly took out my wings, so I could glide down instead of plummet. I looked down and saw nothing but a void going deeper. I groaned because I knew it would take a while before I made it down, so I folded my wings letting myself plummet I would then snap them open every few seconds to prevent myself from hitting terminal velocity. After several times of this repeated sequence I finally made it into a dark open space. I looked around and saw no monsters in the aria I let myself drop the remainder of the way to the ground and rolled to make less sound. I looked around for an exit, but I didn’t see any.

“Well shit I hope it isn’t one of those death traps that starve a person to death I said to myself.” Then I heard creaking. “Of course, at this depth a boss battle is just as bad.” I mumbled then turned around. There floated a skeleton dressed as a reaper it had a scythe and a cloak. Using observe I found it was level 1000 and its stats were off the charts.

Death Reaper

Title: The final Boss, The end

Hp: 100,000,000/100,000,000 rHp 2,000/min

Mp: 100,000,000/ 100,000,000 rMp 2,000/Sec

STR: 20,000,000,000

SPD: 20,000,000,000

AGI: 20,000,000,000

DXT: 20,000,000,000

INT: 45,000

WIS: 340

I know that for humans and any other species the intelligent and wisdom are really low but for undead their super high. I started to raise its giant scythe slowly, but I knew it would come down fast and hard. As it reached its peak I quickly leaned back as the scythe rushed past me where my head was. I then drew Excalibur and charged forward dodging the trust from the butt of the scythe. I sliced one of its hands off causing it to let out a wail then its swiped at me with what remainder of its arm. I blocked with Excalibur and watched as it sliced through the bone. The reaper then used the staff of the scythe to push me away and made me impact into the wall on the other side of the room. I groaned as I peeled my self from the wall. I looked up just Intime to do a matrix dodge and watched the scythe burry itself into the wall behind me. Sadly, it didn’t get stuck, but it gave me an opening to spot the orb in the center on its chest then lunge at it with Excalibur. I watched as my sword buried itself into the core of the Skeleton then I twisted it causing cracks in the core and light poured through the cracks then the sphere shattered. The skeleton gave one last shriek before it turned to dust. I collapsed to the ground to tiered to do anything.

Alert due to using the strength stored with sloths curse you will sleep for 24 hours all notifications and rewards will be withheld until you wake up.

I quickly used dungeon manipulation to make a box around myself and felt sleep take over when it sealed.

I felt myself float for about a minuet then I felt a tug towards something. My dream body started floating towards the pull. As I got closer the pull increased and soon I was rocketing towards the pull then it stopped when I was in something that looked like a tomb that was turned into a house. There was one door that was made out of what looked like a slab of rock there was a throne make out of various skeletal parts with human skulls sitting on the ends of the arm rests. I looked around the room and noted spaces where dead bodies were supposed to stay but they weren’t there now. I shivered and quickly looked for the skeletons but didn’t see them anywhere in the room. I did however see another door this one however was made of wood.

“Hello?” I called out not really hoping for an answer.

But instead of an answer I got a streak of light green and purple light fly past my head I turned to my right hoping to catch sight of the light, but it just streaked to the other side of my head. I quickly turned the other way, but it did a complete circle around me and rested on the other side. I hissed then quickly turned around, but it continuously spun around me so I continuously spun witch was making me dizzy. I fell on my but with an oof when I became unsteady. The light was now on my left side and was hovering right above my shoulder when I was about to turn again I heard a deep voice laughing.

I quickly turned to the now open wooden door to see someone in a cloak covering all of his body he was hunched over and waked with a slight limp. I squinted to see into his hood, but the shadows were too dark and hid his face completely.

“Well, well, well, it looked like my scythe really likes you young one.” Said the cloaked man.

“Wait if this is your scythe then you’re the reaper aka death. Am I dead? Am I dying.? How long do I have to live? I too young to die!” I rapid fired then broke down crying.

“Relax you’re not dying, or dead Infact you’re just sleeping at the bottom of my dungeon. Speaking of which how did you think of the dungeon?” The man asked.

“Well its good for a beginner to intermediate dungeoneers but for an advance explorer it leaves something to be desired.” I replied coldly wile I continued to try and look at the now deemed scythe.

“Oh, and what would make it better?” He asked me.

“Well if you put more variety in your undead monsters and add more floors maybe add some more traps and maybe some safe floors on floors 17 20 37 and 67 if your keeping the floors the same but if you are extending the floors then there are a few more floors that you would need to add as safe floors.” I replied spinning trying to see the scythe,

“I see so the higher floors will be for more experienced fighters and the lower floors will stay the same but with maybe a few more things mixed in.” He said but I could hear the smile in his voice.

“Precisely.” I said with an evil grin on my face finally tired of chasing the scythe. “Anyway, why am I here?” I asked him.

“You don’t know about your birth, right?” He asked surprised.

“No, my family was kind of killed when I was a baby, so I got nothing.” I replied.

“Wait you one of those soul transfers that was meant to remember everything.” I said pointing at me with a black glove that matched his cloak.

“So. about my birth, right?” I asked digging for information.

“Oh right. Your father was a human known as a Dungeoneer. Dungeoneers are able to own several dungeons and modify them anyway they want. Its usually how we evolve our dungeons but its starting to become extinct because your species is extinct.” He mumbled.

“What about my mother do you know anything about her?” I asked her.

“Sorry no I don’t know anything about her.” He replied.

“Really? But your death.” I wined.

“Yes, and it’s not like the souls that pass through my care tell me everything about themselves.” He replied.

“Good point.” I mumbled.

“Oh, and if my scythe follows you do be sure to take care of her. You are now the representative of death so find the last of my armor and you will unlock my true form.” He quickly said.

“Wait what?” I asked before the room disappeared.

I woke up in my cube with a light green and purple glow floating in front of my face. I instantly knew what it was.

“Hello what should I call you?” I asked it.

“Call me Death Scythe I am now your new spirit weapon, but I have limited myself, so you aren’t all powerful.” She replied.

“Ok tell me how to make the pack.” I asked while letting the barrier fall.

“Oh, you knew I wasn’t bound to you, yet you are interesting.” She giggled.

“Well my gamer ability tells me this stuff. Speaking of which where are my notifications?” I asked myself.

“Oh, those silly things I held them off until after we talk.” She said then I realized she was in a two inch semi human shape and she was cleaning her ‘nails’.

“Ok. Let’s make that pack then.” I sighed.

“Yaye!” She screeched then pricked her finger.

I shrugged then followed suit pricking my finger allowing my blood to flow. She flited over to me and pressed her finger to mine and I watched as the blood mixed and then fused creating a contract. I looked it over and noticed it was one sided. Where I control her, and she doesn’t get or have anything.

Rules of the Contract

Rule 1 any command will be followed to the letter.

Rule 2 The spirit must protect their master even upon death.

Rule 3 The spirit must not attack the master.

Rule 4 The spirit will not attack the master’s companions.

“Yah that isn’t staying.” I replied and started changing and adding to the contract.

“Whatch’a doing?” She asked trying to see what you’re doing.

“Just changing our contract.” I replied.

“Really to what?” She asked like a girly girl.

“Well take a look.” I said showing her the new contract.

Rules of the Contract

Rule 1 Any command will be lessoned to but if it causes direct harm to the spirit they can refuse.

Rule 2 The Spirit has full authority to kill in defense of the master even if the master told them not to.

Rule 5 The spirit has the right to take a vacation a week each month needs two weeks’ notice before they take off. Vacation days can be staked up to a month.

Rule 6 The spirit can terminate their contract at any time.

“Really? Your allowing me that much freedom?” She asked in awe.

“You’re not a slave and you’re not mindless I’m from a society that doesn’t like people being oppressed.” I said.

“Aw you’re so sweet.” She said pinching my cheeks.

“Please don’t do that.” I said and waved her away. “Will you accept the contract?” I asked her.

“Yes of course.” She said as the contract rolled up then turned into gold dust and floated into each of us.

I looked around the room to see several walls lift and showed lots of gold silver and copper. There was several weapons and armors scattered throughout the rooms even more than when I defeated the skeleton dragon. But one room caught my eye there sitting in the middle of the room was an injured pitch-black dragon It was slender and had no spikes and wide wings with a talon on the end. Its injury was under its left wing on its side. It was obviously fatal, and it wouldn’t survive very long. It saw me and moved itself closer to me.

“Human I’m sorry for my appearance but I’m seriously injured.” The dragon boomed.

“Hello noble dragon I’m also sorry about my appearance but I passed out after I defeated the skeleton.” I replied and bowed.

“Its quite alright but I have a favor for you. As you can see I am injured beyond recovery and I would like you to do something for me.” He said.

“I under stand o grate and noble dragon I understand that you wish to die a noble death by my hand instead of succumbing to your wounds. But I have a proposition for you I will still give you the fight you deserve but you will live on within me and help me along my journey if that is ok with you.” I said bowing.

“Hm, an interesting proposition young one what is your name?”

“Eclipse Bloodmoon I am considered a slayer and will soon be considered a demon for I have not aged since I was five.” I replied back.

“A slayer? How pray tell have you gained this title?” He asked surprised.

“I killed a skeletal dragon when I was five and absorbed it into my being allowing it to technically live on inside me, but I found out that it was just born in that room and was already fully grown because of a rare magic and it was fighting on instinct. I would like you to teach me all of what you know and help me interpret the thoughts of the skeletal dragon. In return I will allow you to take over whenever I change into your form.” I somewhat lied for the skeletal dragon was just born fully grown it also didn’t have any conscious ness only instinct.

“Hmmm” He thought thinking.

“I will still give you a fight, but it is up to you weather you want to still be considered living even if it is only to me in my consciousness or dead. Either way I still get your ability’s and form.” I told him.

“I under stand and accept your proposition. I just hope you know what you are getting yourself into.” He replied then charged.

“I never do.” I whispered and used observe on him to see his level and took note that his level was only two above mine now.”

He swung his right claw, but I pulled Yubishiri to block the strike I got pushed back a bit but not enough to put me out of range for a strike. I charged forward dodging his left paw just barley.

“Ill try to make your death a quick and painless one!” I shouted before shoving the sword into the gap in-between some of his scales.

He let out a roared in pain, but it was obvious he wasn’t done yet. But I couldn’t pull out the blade, so I left in within him. I rolled back and let my arms shift into their claw from and pulled the knife-like bone from my forearm. I aimed for the injury in its side and through it with all my strength. But the dragon saw it coming and used his wing to stop it, but the knife still went through his wing causing him to roar again. He turned to me while taking a deep breath. I retaliated as I took a deep breath and quickly blew out my undead flame while he let out an invisible beam that consumed all. I quickly dodged to see my flame get consumed by the invisible substance.

“So, your breath attack is like a moving portal humph that is troublesome.” I said while pouting. I saw him stumble a little. “I don’t want you dying on me without me consuming you, so I’ll just have to bring out the big guns.” I said while shifting to my skeletal like armor.

The mask resembled the skeletal dragon but under it was another mask with no eye holes bones followed the same structures of my body, but they surrounded my arms a tail and wings sprouted from my back and my claws grew out slightly.

“A truly terrifying sight you are young one.” He said regaining his balance.

I didn’t reply because my mouth was sealed shut because of the armor. So, I simply charged forward. As I got close, he swung at me but with the added weight of the armor I stopped it with no trouble. It made a concussive wave from the impact but neither of us were affected by it. He then brought his other paw up, but I could sence something around it. I quickly pushed his right claw off me then charged forward shoving my claw deep within his chest until I felt his ginormous hart.

“Thank you for this honorable death Eclipse Bloodmoon. You are truly deserving of the title slayer.” He sighed in relief just before I crushed his hart and let my body consume him.

I shifted back from my armor and heard clapping behind me.

“Bravo, bravo that was a good fight now I knew my instincts were right about you. Eclipse a shadow that passes over the sun consuming the world in darkness a very fitting power for one such as you.” Said my new spirit.

“Why thank you Death Scythe.” Then I had a though. “You know what I’m just going to call you Scythe because calling you your full name will give your brand of power away.” I said matter of factly. “Now if excuse me I have someone to meet hopefully they are liking their new accom-” I was interrupted by the alerts going off in front of me.

Drake eyes Upgraded to Medusas eyes

Medusas eyes: You are able to petrify anything below at or 2 levels above your level.

‘How did I get that?’ I thought to myself. ‘Wait didn’t Perseus kill Medusa, so it must be from him.’ I figured.

I came back to reality with Scythe waving her hand in my face.

“Woops sorry a had a few notifications to go through.” I said apologetically.

“Really!?” She asked energetically. “What did you get?” Seeming to hop in midair with her hand balled and near her face like she was a child who couldn’t weight for the news.

“Well I got my species now as well as a demon from and dragon from.” I replied unenthusiastically.

“How did you get a daemon form?” She asked confused.

“Well apparently it’s my species.” I mumbled.

“Oh, wow but you still look human?” she said like it was also a question.

“Well apparently there is only a few ways that I can change one of them being almost dying.” I replied slumping to the floor.

“Hay don’t feel sad it’s not like you’re a Dreammona or something like that.” She said trying to cheer me up but only made me cry. “Why are you crying?” He asked surprised.

“Because…*sniff* That’s exactly what I am.” I told her.

Her face had the look of shock. “Well shit that is bad.” She mumbled. “Oh well no use dueling on it now get up and lets fide something useful in here.” She said while pulling my hand, so she could help me up.

“Ok” I sniffled then followed her to the treasure rooms.

I gained several million dollars in gold silver and bronze as well as enchanted gear that was used on the more advanced skeletons. Some lynch soul orbs and a few magic staffs. There was a pair of void dragon boots I even found most of the Reaper set which left me with only two thing to retrieve.

“Deaths ring I’m coming for you.” I said as a shadow covered my face only showing my now glowing red silted eyes and walked out of the last floor to finish the quest.
