Chapter 3: Seeing him again
Zuli familiarly runs through the wide lawn and reaches a small pavilion. there she found the two old men drinking tea while chatting. When Grandpa Jerome heard a familiar footstep, he turned his head to look, he saw his granddaughter's flushed face from running.
A smile broke out on his old wrinkly face. Seeing his familiar face, Zuli can't stop herself from crying.
She dashes towards her grandpa like a cannonball and gives him a tight hug. Grandpa Jerome was stunned by her abnormal behavior. slowly patting her head, he said gently.
"What's wrong little princess? why are you crying? are you hurt somewhere?"
Hearing his familiar voice, Zuli buried her head deeper in her grandpa's chest. She sobbed and responded in a muffled voice.
"No! No! I'm fine! I just wanted to hug you."
Grandpa Jerome chuckled and said dotingly.
"Alright! you're a big girl now so stop crying; you're embarrassing this old man in front of your Grandpa Vincent."
When she heard what he said, she hastily stood up and bowed her head to wipe her tears.
She then turned to grandpa Vincent to great him softly,
"Good afternoon! Grandpa Vincent, how are you?"
Seeing this obedient little girl in front of him, grandpa Vincent also broke into a small smile.
"Lily, it's been only two months since the last time I saw you, but you look more and more beautiful. I heard that you fell sick again? you should eat more in the future." he sighed lightly and continued lovingly,
"Look at how skinny you are, you shouldn't follow the trend nowadays. Growing girls should eat more to...."
"Ahem..."
Grandpa Jerome interrupted his friend blubbering with a few coughs, and give him a warning look. Grandpa Vincent shut his mouth obediently.
Zuli was slightly embarrassed and didn't see the odd behavior between the two. She only focused on the first line of his words and didn't bother to clarify the latter.
Bowing her head shyly she was about to reply when they heard a deep mellow voice from behind.
"Grandpa!"
The three turned around to look, they saw Cai in a black shirt with khaki pants and a white rubber shoe. walking towards them in a very calm and elegant demeanor.
His handsome face can even make you faint, his skin is slightly tanned but it only added more to his sex appeal.
His muscle looks firm and even more alluring with his plain shirt. There was no expression can be seen on his cold face but somehow, he just looks so beautiful that he can trample a country using his face.
Zuli just stood there in a daze while looking at him. she almost can stop herself from drooling.
She lightly pinched her legs to get back to her senses and forced herself to peel her eyes off him. She hurriedly looked back to the two elders and gently smiled at them.
"Grandpas! I'm sorry I have to prepare for the banquet tonight, I have to get going"
Zuli stared at her ex-husband's face, clicking her tongue in her heart she muttered begrudgingly.
'What bad luck! he is the last person that she wanted to see at the moment.'
Bowing slightly, she then left immediately, not giving any of them a chance to speak. What was more surprising was that she didn't even glance at Cai.
Cai: "-"
The two old men were also surprised by this series of activities. They give Cai a quizzical look, then smile meaningfully at each other. Cai merrily shrugged his shoulders and look at the young woman's back, who was walking very fast like someone is trying to catch her. He's here to find her, and looking for his grandpa is only an excuse.
Holding a small box in his hand that was inside his pocket he muttered softly,

Walking back to the lake Zuli pick up the book that her mother gifted her and sat down on the rocking chair. Her head was a mess because of the memories of her so-called last life.
She remembered clearly during her 15th birthday her grandfather announced that she and Cai will be officially engaged. To everyone, this is not a surprise at all, since both their grandpas are best friends and the relationship between the Williams and Eckart family is rather close.
Zuli met the 13-year-old Cai during her 6th birthday. Cai was the only person at the party who was not even glancing at her and was only reading a book in the corner. Little Zuli was furious, she walks toward him and took the book from his hand, and haughtily ask him.
"Hey, you there! aren't you going to say happy birthday to me?"
Everyone In the banquet turned their heads to look, they started murmuring to themselves.
"Ayah! this little girl is bold"
"Shhh, don't speak nonsense she is the beloved daughter of the general after all"
"ex-general you say, what if the young master of the Eckart family shouts at her? What can her grandfather do?"
Everyone knew that Young Master Cai is a genius and he hates being interrupted especially when he is reading. There are even rumors going around that he has a very fiery temper, that he even fired the maid who accidentally spilled a coffee on his book.
Cai was already in a bad mood, to begin with because he was forced by his mother to attend this party, and now his face got even darker.
Cai looks at the little girl in front of him with his intimidating cold eyes, and even the twins that were closest to Zuli shivered in fear.
but to his astonishment, the little girl didn't even cower in fear and was even smiling brightly at him. his lips lifted into an arc that he was not even aware of, he was amused by this little girl's boldness.
Everyone was getting nervous, Even Caden and Joshua who were fighting for her attention was having a cold sweat. They didn't even dare to breathe loudly.
Caden can't take the silence anymore and tagged Zuli's dress lightly, "Lily, big brother is quite busy. How about I do it for you?"
Joshua nodded his head and even added, "yes! yes! you shouldn't bother him, look at me I can do it better."
But Zuli only looks at them expressionless and blinks her innocent eyes,
"But grandpa and nanny said that you shouldn't be this rude, this is my birthday and he should at least greet me"
The twins were left speechless. This little ancestor is so hard to persuade.
