Chapter 39

I walked into work the next day. I took a deep breath before I actually entered the firehouse. Once I walked into the main room it basically grew silent. Well this is awkward

"Come on guys, it's me" I began to walk to grab a cup of coffee

Once I did I walked back out to the squad table. I sat on the table alone and I noticed Camille walking into the main room. She glared at me turning her face. She had a darken spot on her cheekbone. Damn, I gave her one hell of a punch. Joe and Capp walked out and joined me at the table. They brought out their cards and began playing

"So, do you guys hate me?" I asked

They both turned to look at me "Why would we hate you?" Joe asked

"Because everyone else seems to"

"Well, no we don't hate you. So you punched someone. Must've been for a good reason" He shrugged and they went back to playing their game

I chuckled and drank more of my coffee. Kelly walked out of the main room and walked to us. He sat on his chair and put up his feet with a magazine in hand "Ah isn't it brother of the year" I said sarcastically

"Chief wants you in his office" He said without looking up at me

I exhaled and stood up "Here we go. By the way bro" I put my hands on his shoulders "Sorry about yesterday" I made my way inside and to Boden's office "You wanted to see me Chief" I said standing outside the door

"Yes, come in" He instructed. I took only one step

I clapped my hands "Gotta run Chief" I said as I turned around and ran to the truck

Once everyone got their gear on we took off. The entire ride was pretty much silent. Expect all you could hear was the siren. I put the glove on my left hand. I looked at my right to see the bruising on my knuckles. It hurt like hell but I could take this pain. I put on the glove and got ready for this call

We made it to the scene and climbed down went to the car that was smashed. One person was trapped in the driver seat. Kelly began to shout orders as well as Matt

"Alison! Grab the jaws, we're gonna need 'em!" Kelly shouted at me

I nodded "Got it!" I turned and ran back to the side of the truck. I grabbed he jaws of life and began jogging to Kelly. On the way Camille was coming from the other end and purposely bumped my shoulder causing me to fall

I knew she did it on purpose. There was plenty of room she could've gone around me. I grunted as I stood up and Joe took them from me to take to Kelly. I turned around and saw her standing there only staring

"What the hell is your problem?!" I yelled

The noise only escalated because they were using equipment that made some noise

"What are you talking about? It was an accident I'm sorry"

I shook my head and got closer to her. Basically helmet to helmet "You know damn right that wasn't an accident!" I yelled

She pushed lightly and I pushed back. Which was a bad idea. Her pushing that lightly she knew I would push harder so she made it look like my fault

"Hey! Hey!" Matt said approaching us "Cut it out! Help us get this victim out instead of picking fights! Now!" I gave Camille a death glare and turned to walk to the car so I could help the victim

Once we got back to the firehouse I took my gear off along with everyone else "Alison" Kelly began

"I know, I know. Chief's office" I said taking off my boots

Right after I did I made my way to Boden's office. I knocked before walking in "I'm guessing you still want to see me"

He nodded "Close the door"

I closed the door behind me and took a couple steps towards his desk. He sighed and took off his glasses "I got an accusation that you punched one of the other firefighters yesterday"

I scoffed "By accusation you mean Camille told you"

"That's beside the point. Why did you do it?"

I stuffed my hands in my pockets "You wouldn't understand" I looked to the ground

"Enlighten me"

"Well, nobody sees on how she's trying to get rid of me. She lies, she deceives, and she manipulates. Everything that is supposedly my fault is hers. You shouldn't have brought her in"

"It was my choice to bring her in. Because you both have a problem with each other is among you two. And it's something you shouldn't bring into this firehouse you should know better"

Okay, he got me there "I know Chief. I know"

"And I also got information that you too got into a fight at the call you just responded to"

I scratched the edge of my forehead "Yea, that was her fault"

"And how is that? What happened?"

"Kelly asked me to get the jaws of life because there was someone trapped inside a car. So I did, but as I got the jaws and began to walk to Kelly she came from the other side and bumped my shoulder causing me to fall. I mean come on Chief, Camille had so much room to go around me but she didn't. She purposely bumped my shoulder making me fall"

"Did you push her?"

"Only because she pushed first"

"She told me you pushed her first. Got into her face and began to yell at her"

I scoffed "She engaged the fight Chief. She started all of this. She's smart, she's making it look like my fault. Ever since she got here she's been after me"

"Right now, it looks like your the fault in all of this"

I scoffed and paced for a second "Unbelievable"

"She's threatening to press charges"

"That's ridiculous!" I exclaimed "Unless what?"

He shrugged "I don't know. But you should apologize"

I shook my head "Hell no. She's the reason I'm in this damn position!" I waved my hand in the air

"Are you not taking any of this seriously Alison? Until you get yourself under control you take the rest of this shift off"

I scoffed again and took a couple steps backwards "Alison"

I looked up at him "You need to get yourself under control. Or I will have no hesitation taking you out of this firehouse" His voice was stern, serious

I clicked my head back and nodded "Thanks a lot Chief" I opened the door and slammed it behind me

As I was walking out of the firehouse I could see everyone was staring at me. It felt like I was in a movie, like I was in slow motion walking out with everyone having their eyes on me. I've been through worse, what doesn't kill me makes me stronger
