Painful Addiction

Emotional onslaught
"I know I made a huge mistake and I should have been wiser and listened to you, but that doesn't equal being made to listen to you tell me that you told me so eight hundred times!" I vented, exasperated and frustrated from being reminded of my mistakes over again.
"I only said it three times but hey, exaggeration doesn't kill anyone, I think," Emmanuel replied, tapping his chin thoughtfully.
"Ow!" He yelped when Mariam who was sitting by my side, smacked his arm as she usually did when he was stressing me out.
"She was in love, okay? It's blind and bittersweet, that's what it is. She knows that she did this to herself! She doesn't need you ringing it into her eye that you told her it wouldn't end well!" Mariam reproached, a stern glare fixated on Emmanuel like she was a mom scolding her unruly offspring.
"Sorry, ma! I was only making sure that she gets it o. Before she would say something different next week," He said, raising his hands in surrender.
