CHAPTER 66

  MAZE OF PAIN

  TIARA

I literally cringed when beyond the curtain lay the one man who made me feel a thousand things at once. So many machines keeping him alive surrounded him.

“Don’t be afraid, Tiara, he’s just being helped to live. You heard the doctor, that everything went well, but they had to induce a coma,” Mara said, putting a warm hand on my shoulder.

I could feel my heart beating to break through my chest. I wanted so much to be there with him, holding his hand and telling him that everything would be okay, that I was and would always be there for him.

But here I was behind the glass, watching helplessly.

“Why him, Mara? Why did I have to say that? I never really wished him dead. Only if I could turn back time...” I said, shaking in body and voice.
