CH7 ‘I Will Never Forgive You...’

[Mission Start!]

An arrow pierced the night. It arched its way into a guards rights arm. The base was immediately alarmed.

"Into formation! Hold your position!" Conklin shouted orders across the battlefield, rallying replies.

Orders dashed through the trees, fast motions of figures darted across the small clearing.

Alodar sprang from his hideout, lunging at an unsuspecting bandit. He lodged his worn out saber into the poor bandits neck, producing a gruesome wound.

[Host has killed a bandit. +1TP]

The notification failed in slowing Alodar down. He ran towards his next target, brandishing his saber.

With a slash Alodar quickly severed his head. Or it didn't.

"Clank!"

The bandit raised his saber, one that looked grades above Alodar's and sliced Alodar's saber in two.

Alodar quickly retreated and appraised his new opponent.

Alodar's first reaction was to run. This new addition to the status page was surprising. 'What's that Neowalt?'

[That, host is a law. I've talked of it before. It is a type of magic, usually used by those who are not adept at magic. Due to its high destructive power and low mana costs early on it is considered better for those without much mana]

Alodar was not given time to respond, as a saber launched itself in his way. Alodar side stepped, barely dodging the blade.

"Slow!" Alodar pointed his hand in Randall's direction. Randall slowed to almost a crawl.

"Ignite!" Randall burst into orange flames, but he seemed unfazed.

"Fortifying Force!" Randall shouted a spell of his own, extinguishing Alodar's proud, orange flames.

The time magic also seemed to give way. It unraveled one string at a time, quickening Randall.

"A child?" Randall's voice seemed raspy and weak. His face showed pain, now that Alodar had a better look. "Why?! *Cough* Why do I have to battle humanities *Cough* future?!"

He looked at Alodar. "Sorry kid, *Cough* but this is the only thing I can do. *Cough* Kill me kid, at least I hope you can. *Cough This is all the *Cough* advice I can give ya. Aim for the *Cough* right shoulder *Cough*.

Randall stopped talking and started at me, despair filled them, like water in a pail.

Randall got in stance and Alodar followed suit. Alodar felt sorrow for him and hoped, if he won, to give the man a swift death.

Randall lunges forward, putting all his weight on his right arm. The slash made an audible sound, like the wind in the skies raining terror on one single point.

Alodar couldn't block, because of the sharp blade, so he proceeded to dodge in quick succession. Randall relentlessly pushed Alodar back, slowly cornering him.

Alodar noticed this, so he aimed for the right shoulder with his half remaining saber.

He hoped to land a hit but Randall's saber appeared near Alodar's head, threatening to kill him. Alodar jumped back.

'Since time and fire magic together doesn't work, what about time magic then a saber?' Alodar immediately tried his theory.

"Slow!" Randall started to slow down, but Randall also shouted his own spell to counter it.

The spell only lasted for a few seconds, but Alodar realized that was long enough.

Running at Randall erratically, Alodar readied his broken blade, steadying it for impact.

Alodar was finally close enough. Randall, most likely feeling death, crazily slashed his saber in all which ways.

"Slow!" Randall slowed for just a second, but in that second Alodar plunged his flat, jagged saber bottom into Randall's right shoulder.

Randall fell to the ground as time resumed to its regular speed. He looked at Alodar and mouth two words, 'Thank you.'

[Host has killed a high level character. +2TP. Host has also gained knowledge on Randall de Willow's curse. It is called the Traytic Balus Curse. This curse makes the ingested follow the orders of the first visible being it sees, but at the price of making the right shoulder a severe weakness]

'Well now I know why he asked for the right shoulder.'

Alodar glances around and noticed the fight was still ongoing. He appraised every bandit and learned Randall was most likely the strongest of them.

Conklin was still giving orders to the camp, but he would occasionally look towards the battle between Alodar and Randall. When it was over and Randall died, Conklin stared at Alodar until he ran off to kill a few more bandits.

Veto, Conklin's vice-captain had not been present the entire fight but he, regardless, nervously trotted to Conklin.

"Where have you been?! Me and the camp have been swarmed by bandits, and what have you been doing? Playing with the dandelions? Hurry! Grab a sword! We fight till our last man!" The last sentence directed at the camp boosted morale and adrenaline.

"That's what I've been meaning to talk to you about sir-," Veto was cut off as a tent nearby collapsed.

"Shush! I don't have time! Guard my back, I'm taking a few bandits myself!" Conklin ran towards the nearest bandit, brandishing his sword.

"Come if you dare fiends! I find no pleasure in killing you, but if you attack I shall respond! Come I dare you!" His voice spread throughout the opening, attracting many bandits to target him.

The bandits yelled sounds of intense hate and violence.

They all walked forward surrounding Veto and Conklin.

Veto unsheathes his sword and faced Conklin.

"Sir, we need to talk.. I have something to conf-" Veto's words were caught in his throught as Conklin covered his mouth.

"No need. I trust you with my life. Let's talk when we get back to the city, ok?" Conklins smile flashed as bright as a sunbloom flower in winter( a made up flower that blooms the brightest in winter. Extremely rare).

"You got me Veto!" Conklin looked back as to signify his trust in Veto, when a sword pierced his chest through his back.

The one wielding the sword: Veto. Veto looked at his captain. "This is what I wanted to talk about sir. I need to live, can't you see!" Veto yelled hysterically to Conklin. "I'm so young and so much to live for! I'm talented, and the girl of my dreams has just accepted to marry me! My life is complete!" He looked around, possibly for any face that understood what difficult choice it was that faced him.

"I'm sorry captain... once I learned of their ambush after we left from them, I knew I had to make a deal. I told them where we were going to camp. This was my only choice!" Veto cried and laughed, he looked like a broken machine that fell apart after only one use.

Conklin looked into his eyes and muttered his last few words, "I will never forgive you..."
