Ainz Ooal Gown

'Man... I don't know what pissed him off so much, but I pity those Knights...' Momonga thought as he watched the back of the leaving Dōji.

He had no idea what came over him and why he had appeared in his room with his armor already on, but he was very glad that he had no desire to rebel, that would have been a real problem for him.

'Now let's take a look at these two...'

"My Lord, shall I get these inferior lifeforms out of your eyes?" just as he was about to take a look at the two girls, Albedo asked from beside him, holding her Bardiche already high in the air.

"Stop! Stop, Albedo! The ones who are our enemies right now are those Knights." Momonga immediately interjected and told Albedo who their Enemy was.

Albedo let her down her weapon and stood a bit to the side, "As you wish, my Lord."

Finally getting the time to take a look at the two girls, he saw something he hadn't noticed before.

The older girl who had a huge gash on her back was sitting there, with a wide smile on her face, this smile wasn't right in any way on the face of a beautiful young teenage girl.

Gazing at the place where her eyes were fixed, he found the body of the Knight killed by Dōji earlier, bits and pieces were still hanging on the neck which seemed like a mash of bones, metal, blood, and matter.

Truly a disgusting sight for human beings, 'I think I would vomit immediately upon looking at such a thing if I were still Human... but why is she in such a state?'

'Anyway, the first problem to be solved should be to heal her wounds...'

Searching in his inventory for the item in question needed for such a situation, he soon took out a small vile filled with a blood-red liquid.

'Minor healing potion... should be enough.'

Nodding to himself, he bowed toward the two sisters, the little one seemed to have passed out, though he did not know when and how, so he simply addressed the one who needed the potion.

"Here, drink this." the deep voice of Momonga sounded, bringing Enri finally back to reality.

But she seemed to still be a bit absent-minded, her wide creepy smile had vanished and she simply turned and took the vile from Momonga's bony fingers.

Enri glanced at her little sister Nemu, her eyes still hazy, then at the vile, finally opening and gulping it down her throat.

The moment it touched her throat, she felt a warmth spreading across her whole body, 'Wait... this isn't poison?', the pain in her back and her whole body disappeared.

She had resigned herself to her fate before, thinking that Death would take her life as well, and took the potion without thinking much at all.

Grabbing her own back, she realized the huge gash had completely disappeared, not even a little scar was left.

Her eyes regained light as she finally understood, that no matter if it was the incarnation of Death in front of her or the being before and the woman in armor, they had come here to help them.

Bowing her upper body low, while staying with her knees on the ground, she then thanked her savior, "Thank you for saving my sister and me!"

Momonga waved his bony hand at Enri and spoke in a magnanimous way, "Don't worry about it." and then asked a simple question for convenience, "Do you know what magic is?"

The question caught Enri off guard, but she nodded and explained, "Yes, a friend of mine, a herbalist comes to the village from time to time to gather herbs, he can use a little bit of magic."

Momonga nodded and then continued, "This makes the following easier, I am a magic caster and I will cast some simple spells for your protection..."

[No-life Cocoon]

[Wall of Protection from Arrows]

Two spells were cast by Momonga, though one didn't see them truly, it was as if in a certain radius around the two girls the air rippled a little.

"These two spells will hold out anything that lives and protect you from dangerous ranged attacks, so please stay here for now, so as not to get into a dangerous situation again." He paused and his hand went into the infinite darkness, taking two small peculiar horns out of it.

He threw them towards the girls, the horns luckily weren't registered as something to defend against by the [Wall of Protection from Arrows] and explained, "These horns can Summon a group of small monsters called Goblins, they will listen to your commands and protect you."

Enri grabbed the horns and held them tightly to herself, she didn't understand their true worth, but it definitely wasn't something a village girl like her would be worth.

"Thank you so much..."

Momonga waved his hand, for him these two horns were simply garbage and so he started to walk away, or that was his plan at least.

"Excuse me!" Enri called out from behind and Momonga was just getting a bit annoyed 'Wasn't saving and giving you this enough?'

But what followed made him understand why he called out, "Could you tell me your name?"

'Right... I haven't even introduced myself yet...' but when he wanted to say Momonga, the words simply didn't leave his mouth.

'Who am I? The last of the Supreme Beings? The last remaining player of Ainz Ooal Gown?'

Suddenly he had an idea, turning around and spreading his arms wide he announced.

"My Name is Ainz Ooal Gown!"

"And you would do well to remember this name."

He then turned again and left this place with Albedo following behind him.

Enri on the other hand mumbled to herself the name again, as if to engrave it into her soul, "Ainz Ooal Gown..."

.

.

.

"Albedo..." Momonga addressed Albedo who was following behind him.

The two didn't go to the village immediately, knowing full well that Shuten Dōji could handle the situation there on his own, Momonga wanted to go around to do some tests on the scattered scouts of these knights, who would for sure be posted around the Village.

But before that, a question came to his mind, which he needed an answer to.

"Yes, My Lord." Albedo listened attentively.

"Do you resent me for taking that name upon myself?" Momonga asked the question bothering him in his heart.

He was a bit nervous inside about the answer, that Albedo would give him.

"Excuse me my Lord, but why would I resent you for taking this most exalted Name for yourself?" Albedo didn't answer but asked why she should be, as in her opinion there was no reason to.

"Umu... very simple, because this name originally represented all 41 of us. Including your own Creator Tabula Smaragdina. Don't you resent me for taking this name all by myself, without consent from the others?"

Momonga's concerns were from his perspective valid and should be addressed, but Albedo saw this very differently from him.

"Excuse me, my Lord, my following words may upset and if this would be the case, then please order me to kill myself immediately!"

Albedo's words made Momonga a bit confused but Albedo simply continued.

"I may be upset if one of the beings, who abandoned us were to take that name upon themselves, without your consent, the one who stayed with us." She paused and after fiddling a bit continued on.

"However if the one taking that name upon himself is you, Lord Momonga, then I feel nothing but Excitement and Gratitude. For you, my Lord truly worthy of such an exalted name."

Momonga hadn't listened to the last part, he had basically stopped listening since the word 'Abandoned' had registered in his mind.

It wasn't like the other players of Ainz Ooal Gown had abandoned him, but Yggdrasil was simply just a game and Real life had caught up to them.

They each had their own reasons why they left the Guild and the game, 'But do I harbor resentment against them?'

'Do I feel like they have abandoned me?'

'Umu. Possible...' It was possible that somewhere deep inside him he felt resentment towards them for abandoning him and the Guild they had built together for all those years.

Human emotions work in very strange ways sometimes.

"Umu. Then from today onwards I will only be referred to as Ainz Ooal Gown until one of my comrades comes, I will hold this name and let it resound throughout this new World."

Albedo's face went a deep shade of pink as she gazed at the resolute Ainz declaring his new name.

"Then Lord Ainz Ooal Gown, shall we continue to sniff out these insignificant lifeforms?"

"Ainz, call me Ainz, Albedo. I don't want to be referred to by such a long name all the time."

The squirming of Albedo intensified as she asked with her sweet and seductive voice, "Ehw, could it be that I am specially..."

Knowing full well what she wanted to say Ainz interrupted her words, "No Albedo, I will let everyone refer to me as such. When we go back to Nazarick later I will announce the change of my name."

Albedo's mood drooped a bit, but she still followed Ainz all the same.

"By the way, I want you to explain I later to Shuten Dōji when we meet up with him." Remembering that there were more than only the two of them, he immediately gave Albedo an order, to not cause any misunderstandings later.

"As you wish, Lord Ainz!" Albedo of course wouldn't object and orders given to her by Ainz.

The two of them soon found one of the Scouts hiding in a tree, Ainz had cast a spell on the two of them, to approach without being spotted called [Perfect Unkowable].

It was a high-ranking invisibility spell and from the looks of it much too high for the scout to even get any suspicions.

'I think my former caution was completely unnecessary against such opponents.' Ainz had speculated that maybe the normal people living in this world were already as strong as a level 100 character from Yggdrasil.

But now that he met the humans from this world, he realized how utterly wrong he was and how weak these humans were.

'Still, it is better to stay cautious, I do not know if there are other players in this world besides myself, or if there are stronger humans or other races..'

Just because these humans he had met now were as weak as bugs in his eyes, didn't mean that he could throw all caution out the window.

There were simply too many unknown things right now, which was why he still decided to stay cautious.

'Let's try how my spells worked on them before Dōji only used physical strength, but maybe they have an innate immunity against magic or something?'

Deciding to use a high-ranking spell of his favored Ghostmagic, Ainz stretched a hand toward the scout sitting on the tree and cast his spell.

[Grasp Heart]

Ainz then felt something squishy in his hand being squashed together and the man sitting in the tree gripped towards his heart as his body fell lifelessly down to the ground.

'Good, so magic works on them normally, then let's try my weaker attack magic on the next target...'

Confirming the death of the scout, just to make sure, the two went on the search for another scout.

It didn't take long and they found the next sitting in the bushes.

This time Ainz used another Spell, from a different spell tree entirely, to be precise an arcane magic, the one he was weakest at.

[Chain Lightning]

The spell left through the tip of his forefinger turning into a lightning Dragon and ramming into the target, turning the scout into burned charcoal.

"These inferior lifeforms are truly too weak, why would Lord Ainz need to expand his precious Mana to rid himself of them..."

Albedo couldn't bear how weak and insignificant these inferior lifeforms called humans were and complained.

Ainz shook his bare Skull and explained, "I simply desire to use them as test subjects if there are any special conditions among them that would make them immune to magic or similar things that could become bothersome."

He paused for a moment and then continued, "I should also try to use memory magic on at least one of them to get some information and see if it still works the same."

Albedo understood that her Lord was treating these inferior lifeforms as his laboratory and didn't continue the matter.

'Even if Lord Ainz expanded all his Mana, there should be no problem with me Guarding him and Shuten Dōji annihilating the enemy.'

So she simply followed along with what her Lord was doing.

"Albedo, I want you to catch the next scout alive. I want to test my memory magic next to make sure it works on them as it should."

"As you order Lord Ainz."

Deciding that using a skill could probably kill the bug by accident, she went on to simply use her physical stats to hold the bug in place.

Momonga then used memory magic on the person, but this took much more Mana than he had imagined.

Still, he got some useful information from it, although the scout afterward seemed to have lost his mind completely, or rather his brain was smashed to pieces.

"So there are Undead in this world as well, but they are said to hate all the living..."

"This makes my appearance a bit inconvenient to interact with the lifeforms of this world..."

"I should use a mask and gauntlets, that would be for the best for now..."

On the side, Albedo who heard Ainz's mumbling, couldn't help but furrow her brows, "Lord Ainz, why should an exalted Supreme Being such as yourself hide your true form in front of these inferior Lifeforms?"

There was deep displeasure evident in her voice, but Ainz explained simply.

"It's pretty simple, I want information and if my appearance is inconvenient to get the necessary information, then I should of course hide my true appearance."

Suddenly remembering the two girls who had seen his true form, he continued, "Also I should modify the memories of those two girls, to make it that I had always worn a mask and gauntlets."

"Umu. let's go Albedo. We need to look around if there are more scouts and then we go back to the two girls."

Although Albedo was displeased with the thought that her Lord needed to conceal his magnificent true self, she comforted herself with the thought that these inferior lifeforms weren't even worthy to lay their eyes upon her master's exalted self in the first place.

The two then went on and got rid of two more scouts, who each died of a different magic of Ainz.

As he was thinking of something when the last one died, he decided to try some more spells, before looking for the girls.

What surprised him was what happened when he tried to Summon a Death Knight, it was actually born by using a corpse as a medium.

This process was pretty disgusting, to say the least, but he felt something was different and so he summoned another while staying away from the corpses.

This led to the Death Knight appearing how it should be in Yggdrasil, but something between the two felt different. He just couldn't quite put his finger on what it was.

In the end, he simply lets them wait outside the village, planning to continue to study them later on.

After changing the memories of the two girls, in a very simple way, so as not to harm their brains like he did with the scout before.

He finally decided it was time to appear in the Village.
