Ch10. Testing 2

Cursed Paladin was a class that not many chose in Yggdrasil. There were indeed hundreds of classes in that game but that didn't mean all of them were popular. People naturally looked for the 'best' composition of classes in order to be the strongest they could be.

Unfortunately for the Cursed Paladin class, that meant it became quite unpopular. While this class did unlock both Curses and Necromancy spell trees, it didn't provide any additional bonuses for them. This meant the class was a whole lot inferior to classes like Cursemancer or Necromancer, both of which had their respective evolutions and heavily enhanced their respective spell trees with additional bonuses all the while providing stats to things like Magic Attack or Magic Defense that suited casters well.

Cursed Paladin, however, was some kind of weird spellcasting tank type of class and people had no idea why it even was in the game anymore as spellcasters didn't really focus on improving the stats this class provided.

It was not an evolution-type class either. Instead, it was a rare class that had to be unlocked through passing certain requirements like slaying a few thousands of a certain type of mob or gathering a few stacks of a material... things like that.

In short, it required quite the effort to unlock this class and most people judged it not worth it because the bonuses the class provided were simply far too inferior to what they could get by focusing on other classes.

The reason why Rei found this class appealing, however, was that it had only five levels and each level gave a point to both Magical and Physical Defense while also providing 2% magical resistance per level.

Altogether, fully leveled it gave 5 to both Magical and Physical Defense, which was just a horrible increase in stats compared to what other classes could provide. On top of that, it gave ten percent of magical resistance.

Percentual resistances were very rare in Yggdrasil and indeed, this ten percent was one of the reasons why Rei chose the class.

The major point, though, was that this class unlocked both Necromancy and Curses spell trees WITHOUT locking any other spell tree. In-game, this was pure garbage. But Rei was looking a bit more into the future when he saddled Solution with this class...

In Yggdrasil, there were two types of spells. Spells that anybody could learn, no matter their class, and then there were spell trees that could be unlocked by taking certain classes.

For example... there was a reason why Momonga didn't know even one healing spell. He was a necromancer and that meant the holy and healing magic was locked for him. There was no way for him to learn it as all holy caster classes were locked the second he took the Necromancer class. There were some exceptions to that rule and it was indeed possible to have both Holy and Necromancy magic on one character but it would require not taking the Necromancer class which provided the most benefit to the Necromancy skill tree.

It was the same reason why most Necromancers chose to play as undead. The racial bonuses for the Necromancy were simply far too good to not do that.

Rei knew that summoning undead would be kinda overpowered in reality. In the game, there was always a time limit on summons but that could be bypassed in reality. Undead also had so many uses as cheap and efficient labor or meat shields... hence, Solution was given a class that enabled her to summon them without restricting her in any other way, the Cursed Paladin class.

The difference between her and Momonga, who fine-tuned his build to provide the best bonuses to the Necromancy skill tree, was quite large, however. If Solution summoned a Death Knight, it would be level thirty-five. This was without any additional boost to Necromancy whatsoever in her build as it was the basic level of a Death Knight mob. If Momonga summoned a Death Knight, it would be level forty-five. Which was honestly just bullshit as one of Momonga's Death Knights could match five of Solution's because of the level difference while also taking a lot less mana to be summoned. The higher the level of summons, the bigger the difference in powers of summons these bonuses in Necromancy provided too.

But Rei didn't mind that when he was making Solution's build. There were always other ways to buff the summons anyway and Solution was in no way a Summoner type of character.

Looking at the Wraith Lord in front of him, Rei could only wryly smile. Solution used a seventh-tier spell to summon this mob whereas Momonga could have summoned a similarly powerful mob with the top-level fifth-tier spell. Yet another show of how much effect the job and class bonuses had on various class-locked spell trees.

"I am going to cast a spell on the Wraith Lord, Solution." Rei warned his maid, that took a few steps back, before he extended his hand towards the mob. "Crushing Hellchains!" He exclaimed, not even bothering to use his Silent Casting as three crimson chains burning with black flame on various parts burst from the ground and in an instant were about to bind the Wraith Lord when...

The only thing Rei's stupefied mind registered was the brief sound of 'squelch' as his seventh-tier spell minced the summoned undead mob so fast Rei didn't even register it, causing even Momonga to flinch in discomfort from the gory scene.

"Ah... noted. This is no longer a game." Rei mumbled in shock, staring as the black flames incinerated the remains of the mob that was violently ripped to shreds in front of his eyes by a freaking crowd-control skill that wasn't even supposed to do much damage. "I should start expecting realistic graphics and effects, then." He wryly added, his nose smelling the burnt undead flesh and scrunching in disgust.

'Hey... that was a seventh-tier restrictive spell, Crushing Hellchains, right?' Momonga suddenly mentally connected to Rei through the Message skill.

'Yeah... crowd control skills now apparently deal damage and can even kill. It kinda gives a sense if you really think about it. Neat, huh?' Rei replied, still a bit stupefied from this new discovery.

'And you didn't secretly add any Metamagic like Maximize Magic or something like that, right?' Momonga asked, trepidation clear in his voice.

'No...' Rei trailed off, still staring at the burnt patch of ground where the Wraith Lord stood a few seconds ago.

'Yeah, nope. I am never dueling you again if that's the case. I like being in one piece, thank you very much.' Momonga's deadpan voice entered Rei's mind before the skeleton disconnected the Message skill.

"As expected of my Master." Rei heard Solution quietly say for herself in restrained excitement while he could only wryly smile while thinking,

'Shit, it will be such a pain in the ass to check all of my favorite spells for the differences from the game...'
