Chapter 18 - A Boy And His Weapon!

So this is considered a job. Does it do anything?

*Job: Adventurer*

*The brave people who explore unknown lands and slay monsters.*

*+1 STR Per Level Up*

*+1 AGI Per Level Up*

*+1 WILL Per Level Up*

"Hey, Luke is your village owner also considered a job?" I asked Luke.

Luke seemed really happy and replied in an excited tone, "Yes, the system tells me that I can switch between the two at any moment."

While we were all lost in checking the new system pop-ups Ratha's voice brought us back to reality, "Be sure not to lose your adventurer card, it will cost 50 golds to get one if you lose it. Now if you have any monster corpses, you can take them right over there!" she said while pointing towards an empty space near the reception desk."

At first, Lukes's group took out the goblins and a few wolves that they killed. Then Walter and Lily took out the couple of goblins that they killed. At last, I took out all the monsters in my inventory, which consisted of more than 10 goblins, one hobgoblin, and one sabretooth. This shocked everyone in Lukes's group, for a moment their jaws were wide open.

Ratha's eyes were shining with a big smile on her face, "Oh a Hobgoblin and a Sabretooth, these corpses are going to be in demand right now."

After which Ratha took out, a small leather pouch and put it to my hand.

*+180 Gold*

There was a little bit of envy in everyone's eyes when I got the coin pouch. Since the next highest gold earned was by Luke, who only got 20, plus there coins were basically given to them on hand without any pouch.

After we received the coins Luke added a blacksmith upgrade to the village. The moment he did that we could hear some rustling noises coming from outside. When we went to look at what was going on, a building with a board of an anvil drawn on it hanging right near its door appeared out of nowhere. It was right in the empty area close to the adventurer guilds building.

Luke told us that when he added the building he was able to choose the location for it.

The blacksmith building door opened and a dwarf came out. He was about 3.4ft (103cm) tall, with a long red beard reaching his chest. He had a muscular build with abnormally bulky arms. The guy was wearing a blacksmith apron with pants, fully displaying his bulky hairy arms.

Well, who am I to talk about that? I am basically walking around in my birthday suit.

The dwarf came walking towards us and talked in an abnormally heavy voice "Aye… humans, if you need weapons, come to Vakhun. I got the best stuff!"

He just said that and went back to his shop. He was a strange character, to just introduce himself and walk off without any care of the world.

Lukes's group decided to go and check the village, whereas Me, Walter, and Lily decided to go and rest up in one of the cabins since it was starting to get dark.

We walked into one of the smaller cabins. The inside of the cabin was as bland and simple just as it looked from the outside. The only furniture inside was four beds, one table, and four chairs.

The beds were hard as a rock with only one carpet-like rug laid on top of it. But the moment I sat down on the bed it felt the most relaxing. Without having to care about being attacked by a monster at night, I was able to sleep carelessly.

The next day, I woke up when the sun was shining brightly through the window. Lily and Walter were still sleeping, so I went out to look around the village. There were beautiful sounds of birds chippering and hammer being hit to metal, it looks like Vakhun was hard at work.

I was walking toward the village gate when I saw Luke and Asmond calling me from behind.

Luke came up to me and asked in a sincere tone. "Where are you going?"

I replied, "Just checking out the village"

We started to walk together while talking about random stuff like the new world and the system.

After a while, Luke casually asked me, "So Robin, all of us in our group were thinking about settling down in this village, do you want to join us?"

I never expected an adult to talk to me soo formally, but they probably thought having me around would make things easier, since I was the strongest among everyone on the group. I was probably stronger then everyone combined in the group.

Nonetheless it was a great offer, but I had something else in mind. Yesterday when the system mentioned adventurers exploring the unknown and slaying monster, that idea got me hooked on it.

Luke didn't seem like too bad of a guy so I tried to decline his offer in a calm manner, "Luke thanks for the offer but, I am not sure about that right now."

Luke looked a little disappointed after hearing me say this, "Whenever you feel like it, come visit us then. Orilon Village will always welcome you."

After talking with Luke and Asmond for some more time, I left to see the new blacksmith shop.

***

The blacksmith shop had all kinds of weapons hanging on the wall from a small dagger to a 6-foot-long great sword. It was exactly what I imagined a fantasy blacksmith shop to look like. There was a massive but short desk that came just a little above my knees, the dwarf Vakhun was sitting on a chair behind it.

Vakhun greeted me with his same heavy over the top voice, "Human, welcome to Vakhun's Shop, here you will find the best weapons and armor in all of Orilon". Towards the end of the sentence, he had a smug look on his face which stayed on his face for much longer than I anticipated. It was as if he was looking for me to praise him.

"But you are the only blacksmith in Orilon" I asked the dwarf.

Vakhun seemed a little annoyed by my remark, "That's the problem with you, damn humans, you get too much into the details"

After which the dwarf changed the subject, "Say it, what do you want? You are my first customer, so I will give you a 50% discount. Look at you, what am I even asking, you are basically walking around naked, let me bring out my best armor." when he said "best armor" he had an abnormal shine on his eyes. If this was a cartoon, there would have been big dollar signs drawn on them.

Vakhun was already ready to go back to his storage room and look for armor after saying this.

I stopped him, "I am actually looking for a staff"

Although I didn't hate the axe I was using now, but the crappy stick of a staff that I used before was a totally different feeling. It was as if I was 10 times more in control, it was as if I was meant to smash stuff with a staff in my hands.

Vakhun had an amused look on his face after hearing me say staff, "Staff, an unusual weapon, but I got what you need."

Vakhun went to his storage room, through the door which was right behind where he was sitting and brought back an around 6ft long giant black staff, and kept it on top of his desk.

The staff was dark in color almost black with a little hint of silver, with a thick circumference of about 7 inches. The top 20% of the staff was much thicker than the rest of the body, with a circumference of around 9 inches. The topmost end of it was covered with little spikes at the edges.

The dwarf said with his same smug tone, "It's one of my finer creations, made with black iron. Go ahead try it."

I lifted the staff. It was much heavier than I anticipated, probably weighing around 150kg(330 lbs). This was the first time I was seeing such a small object weigh soo much. Although it was not much of a problem for me with my high strength.

I did a downward swing, and I could hear the sound of the staff moving through the air. The airwave sent by the swing was strong enough to flutter the apron that Vakhun was wearing.

Seeing me like the staff, Vakhun was rubbing his hands with a wide smile on his face "Haha, nice right, it comes with a small price of 100 gold but it's only for you my first customer. You won't get discounts like this again."

Although 100 golds was a major portion of my fortune, the staff was worth it.

*-100 Gold*

After buying the staff, I made my way to the cabin to meet up with Walter and Lilly. By the time I got to the cabin, Lily and Walter were already up and were waiting for me.

We sat down on the table inside the cabin. I took out some cookies and milk from my inventory for everyone to eat.

While having our breakfast, we talked about our plans for today. We were going to go back to the school and bring them all back to the village if possible. And check on Walter's family on the way.

After having breakfast we went out and set out on our way to the school, but the first thing to do was to get weapons for Walter and Lily.

We went to Vakhan's shop where Walter chose a pair of daggers, and Lily choose a bow. They were a little short on money, so I helped them out a little with getting the weapons.

*-10 Gold*

Their total amount was 30 golds. While browsing through the shop, I choose a pair of long linen pants and a full sleeve linen shirt. They didn't really provide any defense at all, but I just felt like it was time to cover up my body a little.

Vakhun gave the clothes to me for free because of the purchases we have made so far. I had some money left to buy a chainmail armor, but it was restricting my movements a lot so I decided against it.
