131 Wits end, last resort

Hikaru had retracted his tentacles to send biomass to his legs. Escape was difficult, so he had to fight and find an opportunity.

“So you’re not going to even look at the evidence?” Hikaru said, sounding upset and victimized.

Elijah said nothing.

Hikaru could see that Elijah was committed. He must have used some sort of ability.

Could he read minds? Hikaru thought.

No. If he could then at the beginning…

“You just want to kill me, don’t you?” Hikaru continued his charade to provoke Elijah.

He wasn’t affected, but it didn’t matter. It was just to buy time.

A hidden tentacle from Hikaru’s right foot had sneaked under a dumpster. It expanded in size and lobbed the dumpster in an arc towards Elijah while Hikaru charged forward.

Elijah didn’t want to waste mana when he might need it on a stronger opponent later. He sliced the dumpster in half and saw Hikaru behind it, coming towards him with his fist.

Elijah had expected this.
