The First Town

We headed west, the forest seemed to grow less dense as we went, it was not long before we entered a large clearing where we could see not only a town but the ocean as well, the town seemed to consist of mostly wood with some clay brick accents it gave off a rustic vibe and made me worried that this is not a world with modern conveniences, we relaxed our guards a bit and momo made sheathes for our swords which we used as entering a town with weapons drawn is a bad idea in any situation. As we approached the town some of the buildings looked familiar to me, I couldn't quite put my finger on it but I definitely knew this place somehow. Once we entered town we were able to ask a passer-by about where we were. He said he was busy but Makino at party's Bar would be able to help. That name, the familiarity it struck like a gong in my head, oh god this must be the one piece world, one of the scariest and unsafe worlds I could think of, between the rampant pirates and the corrupt government who knows what could happen. I quickly pulled momo to the side and told her my thoughts. "This world definitely sounds like the one I was told about before coming here" I then explained to her the layout of the one piece world in more depth.

"the main thing to look out for are people who have supernatural abilities similar to quirks, these abilities are not obtained at birth but gained though eating an object known as a devil fruit, these fruits manifest in many ways and even to a reader their mechanics are a mystery, but basically if you see a fruit covered in mysterious patterns then you must grab it at all costs, not only can they give you powers they can be sold for an exorbitant amount. Now the politics of this world is fairly complex as there is a strange balance formed between three groups, first is the pirate emperors, they rule an area called the new world and although they are grouped together they are all enemies of each other. Next Is the world government, although they run the navy and spread their message of suppressing the pirates in actuality they are incredibly corrupt, not only do marines regularly take bribes but the ones in charge are known as the world nobles, a group of people who think they are so special that they won't even breath the same air as you or I, they enslave people and will kill for as little reason as standing in their presence. The government also has an unorthodox group under them called the warlords, they are a chosen band of seven pirate crews that the government permits their piracy, and in exchange these pirates are to help when the navy is in need. The final group is the revolutionaries, although I don't know much about them their leader is a man named Dragon who is an ex-marine and is rumoured to be the world's most powerful man, the revolutionary army is mostly about freeing slaves from the world government but their end-goal is of course a full revolution. As far as I know the revolutionary army is upright and probably our best bet if we want to join an organisation." Momo then stood there for a moment pondering on all the new information I have given her. She then came to a realisation and asked me "apologies but it slipped my mind, may I have your name? I am Momo Yaoyorozu otherwise known as Creati" I was shocked that I had also forgotten but I then nodded my head and introduced myself "I am Jennifer Beray, pleased to meet you"

After informing momo about the strange structure of our new world we decided to head to find Makino and confirm my suspicions, it didn't take long before we were able to find a large building with saloon-style doors and a sign that read Party's Bar. We entered the bar and received a few interested looks from the locals, a couple seemed to linger on us as we were young girls but I assume my repulsion ability kicked in as they didn't linger long. We then approached the bar and I was able to see Makino, she was a type of mature beauty with her lovely green hair tied up and an apron over her classic villager clothes, she quickly came over and started to serve us "Welcome to party's Bar how can I help you?" I decided to try and probe for information rather than outright ask "Hi I was hoping you could help us find someone, he is a young boy with a straw hat, by the name of Luffy" this would not only confirm our world but also tell us whether he is still on the island or has left yet. "Oh I'm sorry but I don't know anyone by the name Luffy, maybe you got the wrong area" I was quite shocked as she didn't seem to be lying or trying to cover for Luffy, so I decided to try one more question before giving up this lead "oh in that case how about a boy named ace, black hair, a rather wild child?" "Oh ace well yes I know him, He used to come into here all the time, he even got etiquette lessons from me, he set out to sea about two years ago now"

This sent me into another bout of shock, this is the world of one piece but without Luffy? Am I supposed to take the part of Luffy? But I don't want perverts like Sanji, frankly, and brook on my crew, maybe I can help them but just not invite them? Yeah, let's try and do that. With my mind made up and my questions answered I tanked Makino for her time and led momo outside, we then went into another alleyway so as to not be overheard and I explained that it seems to be the world I was talking about but the main character does not exist, all the good he would do In the world will no longer happen, it might be up to us to follow his path and help instead. Momo seemed to enter deep thought at this, she eventually said "although it seems that this world has been messed with presumably by whoever sent you here we should still aim to do as much good as possible, if that requires us to follow a set path, then so be it" I was so mesmerised by momos impassioned speech that I almost missed my system making a new noise, upon focusing on it I was presented with a popup:

[Main quest decided: pirate of good, not evil, you are to follow Luffy's path and take his place, no matter how perilous that may be. Starting reward: free draw in devil fruit lottery, Ending reward: unknown]

I was astonished at the grand scale of the quest along with the generous starting reward, I quickly navigated past the menu which had a new quests button and into the lottery button, there was now two wheels to pick from and I immediately chose the devil fruits, this wheel also had a disclaimer

[Any fruit obtained will either be removed from the world or the person who currently owns its power]

This could have drastic consequences but if the fruit is good enough then consequences be damned. There weren't nearly as many segments but it seemed to not have filters either, I was a bit worried about that because most zoan devil fruits are far too weak to help me survive Luffy's path, the only ones worth mentioning are the mythical and ancient zoans and they are a minority. Well with nothing to lose I decided to spin, the wheel sped up much faster this time and took around 10 seconds to come to a stop, the fruit it finally landed on was the paw paw fruit. I was so excited, not only was it a powerful and versatile ability, it would also give me super cute paw pads on my hands. I immediately focused on the fruit as the system closed and my hands were full with a fruit that looked like an animal paw, momo gasped in surprise at the fruit appearing but I was too busy taking a big bite out of it, of course I then immediately fell to the ground and started retching, trying to get the disgusting taste out of my mouth, in my Haste I had forgotten that devil fruits are said to taste terrible, I then gained an instinctive feeling of how to use my new power as my hands lifted slightly off the ground due to my new paw pads, during this momo was on high alert and protecting me while trying to check if I was ok, I managed to calm down enough to calm her down and explained what happened,

How I have a system and that it rewarded me with the fruit that just tasted horrible, through this I found out that no time had passed while I Was in the system apparently the fruit appeared as soon as she finished speaking, it was good to know that I was not vulnerable while using the system. I then explained to momo that the ability of the paw paw fruit consisted of paw pads that allow me to reflect anything touching them, and I mean anything, air, pain, swords, anything. As soon as I showed Momo my hands with their new paw pads she grasped my hand and started kneading them, it felt so strange but also pleasant, I now know why cats and dogs are so happy to have their paws played with, after Momo had her fill of my new paws I realized that I may have just made a huge mistake "so when my system gave me the fruit it said it was going to take it from its current owner, in my excitement I ignored that but the fruits now past owner was Bartholomew Kuma, one of the warlords of the sea, also known as tyrant Kuma" as momo processed my new shocking revelation I added "but don't worry he is secretly a member of the revolutionary army, this might be our easiest way to come into contact with them, we just have to hope that if he comes to find us we can talk him down." Momo seemed relieved and we started to plan our journey.
