Ch 06 - Testing and Improving Pt 1

Anyways now that I am content with the skin that I'm currently wearing it's time to check the most important aspect of this body for this world, the devil fruit powers.

After that thought I quickly raise my right hand in the gesture of spiderman and consciously shoot a beam towards a swarm of flies not far from me. I quickly look over and I am again floored to see how everything around the area slows down significantly, even some falling leaves that were caught in the beam's path.

It's simply a mesmerizing sight, everything looks like it's in slow motion and caught in some otherworldly space; it's extremely funky looking.

I quickly get up and walk towards the small swarm of insects and start looking very closely, the effects are amazing and it's clear that everything around them seems super slow, they don't even immediately react as I go up to them, something that flies are known to do; yet a few seconds later they seem to react to my presence and start trying to fly away from me, but with very little success.

I then grab one of the falling leaves in the air and see if I can pull it towards me and no, I am having tons of trouble bringing it towards me. I can move it a bit, but it feels like I'm pulling a large fridge or something.

"This is amazing, even something as tiny as a leaf weighs a ton," just as I say this the 30 seconds seemingly run out and everything goes back to normal speed, the flies fly away afraid of my presence and the leaf once again feels weightless to my hands.

As I do this a few more times to the environment around me I suddenly think of something, "Didn't I feel this energy coming out of my hand? So, this means that I can interact with it in some manner…"

Yes, earlier when I first performed the 'Slow-Slow Beam' I did indeed notice that the energy seeped out of my hands in order to create light waves. Also, another thing that I found strange at the time is the speed of the beam, it was super slow compared to how fast light is meant to be.

As I think of this for a bit, I come to the conclusion that the photons in the light beam are likely pushing against all of the atoms in the environment so much that it slows them down to being visible to the eye.

Another aspect of the theory is that the frequency and pattern of the light beam might somehow affects its moving speed and how it interacts with the environment, after all the natural form of this energy is a circle with an opaque filling, which is like a film of some sort that makes everything inside the area become slow it also gives it much more area to cover (a disk).

After a few more observations I quickly noticed another feature of this power, if I only encompass one part of a plant, like the stem for example, then the flower will still sway naturally to the wind.

As I make these observations, I quickly come to the conclusion that I'm actually shooting out vertical disks towards my target, which if anyone knows anything about basic physics, is not the correct way to do it. Imagine throwing a frisbee vertically, it would probably go about a foot and fall right at your feet.

As I come to this conclusion, I quickly bring up my right arm, make the spiderman pose, and try to consciously believe that the beam will be tilted downwards 90 degrees to its previous position making it parallel to the ground and whisper "slow-slow beam!"

The results are something miraculously different, there were no visible disks or anything, only a short spurt of purple light and then nothing.

As I look towards the targeted area, I'm amazed to see that a horizontal line of slowed down time is visible all around me, everything around me seems to be separated into two distinct regions, the lower half separated by the slow photons in the middle and then the upper half.

I walk towards a small lizard that I caught on its head in order to examine what happens to living organisms when I use the power this way, and I am once again amazed by what I found.

Its Struggling, as it should, its bottom half is moving to and fro desperately trying to get away from what is happening, yet it cannot move, since the affected area is keeping it anchored, the amazing thing however is that over a short period of time it seems to be asphyxiating or something because its eyes are hemorrhaging at a stupendous rate and soon after, it just goes limp.

I observe the effect closely and it seems unlike the original effect where body parts can move very slowly but still visibly, this time it seems like the parts hit are actually completely frozen in time.

I then begin counting the time for the effect to run out and I am again amazed to find that the affected parts remain frozen for 3 whole minutes!

This breaks all known knowledge of how the slow-slow fruit is supposed to work, but I guess it makes sense.

Firstly, there wasn't much screen time for this fruit in the anime, secondly as previously stated the previous user wasn't very smart, and lastly scientifically it makes sense.

The number of photons remains constant, but the area of collision is much smaller, this means that the concentration of photons is much higher.

This sudden discovery opens up a lot of possibilities for the future me, who knows I might just be able to create devastating attacks with this knowledge.
