Michael observed the teenager at the center of the commotion closely.
His bare torso showed an athletic build, his light blond hair falling over his forehead. The absence of wings on his back distinguished him from the other Skypieans.
But what truly caught attention were his earlobes, unnaturally elongated to brush his chest.
"Without a doubt, it's Enel," he confirmed to himself.
He calculated that Enel appeared to be slightly older than him. Considering that his own current body was around ten years old, he estimated that Enel couldn't be more than twelve or thirteen.
A memory crossed his mind: Enel and Shanks seemed to be contemporaries. This realization led him to an astonishing conclusion: he was at least two decades before Luffy began his adventure.
"Roger hasn't even reached the title of Pirate King yet." The implications of this fact unfolding in his mind.
Far from discouraging him, this revelation ignited a spark of excitement in his eyes.
"Not bad at all."
"This era is equally magnificent for my plans."
As Michael watched, Enel let out a strident laugh: "Yahahaha! Until I become the god of Birka, this kind of destruction will continue without cease!"
'God of Birka?' thought Michael, the corners of his lips curving into an ironic smile.
"If I remember correctly, you'll destroy this island with your own hands in the future."
"Damn insolent! As long as we, the God's Guards, are here, you won't act recklessly!" roared one of the uniformed men.
The man, consumed by rage, unsheathed his sword. The blade gleamed as he lunged at Enel.
In an instant, the sword pierced Enel's body, cutting him cleanly in half.
But the victory was ephemeral.
"Yahahaha! It's useless! How could the attack of a mere mortal harm a god?" Enel mocked, his laughter resonating in the air.
Before the astonished eyes of all, Enel's "shattered" body transformed into a brilliant blue lightning.
The electricity danced in the air for a second before piercing the attacker's body with lethal precision.
"Ahhhh!!" The guard's heart-rending scream filled the street.
In the blink of an eye, the thunder condensed again, reforming Enel's intact body.
The guard, now a blackened and smoking figure, collapsed to the ground, exhaling weak wisps of white smoke.
Observing from his privileged position, Michael slightly arched his eyebrows, his interest increased.
"Does he already possess the Goro Goro no Mi at this time?"
"Yahahaha! Do you now understand how insignificant you are?" Enel proclaimed, his body recomposing from pure electricity.
His wild laughter echoed through the streets, "This is the fate of those who defy the gods!"
"Enel!!" the inhabitants of the street, the God's Guards, roared in unison, their voices laden with anger and fear.
They launched themselves against Enel in a frantic and desperate attack.
But their efforts were in vain.
For those who didn't know Haki, Enel, user of the Logia Goro Goro no Mi, was truly a divine and untouchable existence.
Neither swords nor weapons could even graze or harm Enel, composed of pure electricity.
Their attacks only served to feed his ego and increase their frustration.
"Yahahaha!" His laughter rose again, his body motionless before the useless attacks.
Despite his evident youth, his face reflected a malice and arrogance typical of a tyrant.
"Cease your useless resistance! Sooner or later, I will rule here," he declared with his face contorting into a sneer.
"Why don't you kneel obediently now?"
"Never!" roared a brave man. "The God of Birka is unique! He is our Lord!"
But the fear in his voice betrayed his words.
Enel, the deformed wingless child, despised by all, had unexpectedly obtained the power to manipulate thunder. Although his mastery was not yet absolute, his ability to transform into pure electricity made him invulnerable.
Since obtaining this power, Enel had unleashed years of repressed anger on the island, proclaiming his destiny as the god who would rule over all.
The most terrifying thing was his youth; with time, his power would only grow. Who could oppose him in the future?
Enel's eyes turned icy at the resistance: "Then, you have no place in my divine kingdom."
Raising his right hand, his wrist transforming into a living lightning, sparks dancing between his fingers.
"Excuse me, may I intervene in this situation?"
A crystalline voice resonated from above.
Suddenly, all gazes converged towards the sky.
Enel and the members of the God's Guards raised their eyes in unison, but as soon as they looked, their expressions froze.
The island, elevated high above the terrestrial clouds, bathed in a sky of immaculate blue, with the sun shining unobstructed in the firmament.
And there, against the backdrop of the infinite sky, floated a figure.
His majestic white wings beat with hypnotic slowness, while the sun's rays enveloped him in a halo of golden light, granting him a truly radiant appearance.
Despite the backlight, his divine face was clearly visible, every feature chiseled to perfection.
"... Is... is he a god?" murmured one of the God's Guards, his voice barely a whisper of amazement.
Michael's presence emanated a sacredness and solemnity worthy of a deity.
A murmur of amazement ran through the crowd as the reality of what they were seeing settled in.... He was flying!
Enel's face, usually marked by arrogance, couldn't hide an expression of genuine surprise.
The wings of Skypiea's inhabitants were merely decorative, incapable of lifting them off the ground. However, here was this being, defying everything they believed.
Michael descended slowly, his wings beating softly. His face, though young, radiated a supernatural beauty and serenity.
A kind smile adorned his features as he observed those present.
"Excuse my intrusion."
"But I couldn't help overhearing your fascinating conversation." His eyes shone with curiosity. "The god of Birka you speak of, he's the ruler of this island, right?"
Before anyone could respond, Enel materialized in a flash of light on a nearby rooftop.
His furrowed brow revealed his discomfort at the presence of someone who dared to rise above him.
"Who are you?" Enel demanded, electricity crackling around his body.
Unperturbed, Michael directed his serene gaze towards Enel. "You must be Enel," he said in an affable tone.
Then, turning to the astonished God's Guards, he continued: "And you are the God's Guards, aren't you? A pleasure to meet you all."
With a respectful nod of his head, he proceeded: "My name is Michael. I know it may sound presumptuous, but I beg you to remember this name." His smile widened slightly.
"Because this is the name of the next God of this island. From now on, I will rule the skies."
Michael's declaration, though bold, was pronounced with a disconcerting calm. There was no aggressiveness in his tone, only an unshakeable certainty.
For him, it wasn't necessary to elaborate complex plans or act with caution.
His new mentality, influenced by the [Supreme King] talent, granted him absolute confidence. If he desired something, he would simply make it a reality.
Although he was aware of the subtle change in his personality, it didn't worry him. In fact, he found it comforting.
The God's Guards remained in stunned silence, their minds struggling to process the situation.
First Enel, and now this angelic being proclaimed his intention to become god.
The tension in the air was palpable, with Michael floating serenely in the center, his presence dramatically contrasting with the confusion and amazement surrounding him.
"Yahahaha! Insolent child, how dare you say such a thing?!" Enel roared, his wild laughter echoing through the streets.
Electricity crackled around his body as he declared: "I will be the one who becomes god and rules this island! Do you dare to challenge me?"
His eyes shone with arrogance and fury.
For him, all the suffering he had experienced was simply the necessary forging to ascend to divinity, and now that he had mastered the power of thunder, he considered himself untouchable, superior to all others.
"That's right," Michael responded with a slight nod, his voice calm and his smile always undisturbed.
"What a pity..." Enel murmured, but a cruel smile distorted his features. "I don't tolerate competition."
"Oh?" inquired Michael, his smile intact. "And what do you intend to do about it?"
"Disappear!" Enel roared. In a blinding flash, his figure materialized in front of Michael, electricity dancing wildly around his body.
The God's Guards watched in horror from below, unable to intervene as Enel raised his arms, now converted into pure electrical energy.
"Divine punishment!" he shouted, unleashing all his fury.
A beam of blinding light sprouted from his hands, engulfing the upper part of Michael's body in an instant.
