Chapter 6: Paper-Flipping Game

As the pirates looked utterly confused, Vivi gave a signal to her pet duck, Karoo, standing nearby, indicating that it should bring out the flip cards they used for the game.

To keep her pet happily engaged, Vivi replicated many games from her past life in this world, and Paper-Flipping was naturally one of them.

"Quack?" Karoo, who was squatting and counting money, calculating how much milk it could buy with it, looked at its owner with a puzzled expression. Its big, watery eyes were filled with question marks, as it had no idea what she meant.

Ever since Vivi transmigrated to this world, whether it was due to the pet panel or some awakened superpower, she could "hear" many voices. She had never met the Pirate King, Gol D. Roger, so she didn't know what this "Voice of All Things" entailed exactly.

For her, stones, rivers, trees, and animals - by focusing her mind, she could vaguely hear some "words." Most of it was incoherent and difficult to interpret, while a few were laughter, emotions, and a few extremely simple words. Only Karoo's inner thoughts sounded the clearest. However, this form of hearing was one-sided; she could hear but couldn't transmit her thoughts back through "mind speech."

Currently, this ability wasn't of much help to her. Instead, she was overwhelmed by the cacophony of noise, bombarding her brain with an excessive amount of information, which left her mental state exceptionally poor. She wished she could sleep for sixteen hours a day!

In this situation, "Voice of All Things" wouldn't be of much help. It took her nearly half a minute of signaling and gesturing before she finally made Karoo understand her intention.

Clang!

Karoo took out a frying pan from his backpack and gestured with it, as if asking, "Do you want this?"

Vivi's forehead twitched with three black lines.

"Gah? Quack, quack!" The duck was initially puzzled, but then it nodded repeatedly, indicating that it understood.

It began rummaging through the cartoonish backpack.

Green onions, a bottle of milk, two dice, a half-knitted woolen hat, a handful of marbles, and a somewhat tattered ledger... Just when Vivi's face turned pitch black, the duck finally pulled out two tightly wrapped flip cards - one red and one blue.

Vivi wouldn't play such a childish game in front of everyone. Her participant for her side would be Karoo itself!

She had been playing with the duck for half a month, and it was quite skilled.

When Vivi played, she usually chose a blue flip card because of her water-blue hair. Naturally, Karoo would choose a red one.

This game would be no exception, with the pirates representing the blue side and Karoo representing the red side.

Several pirates looked at each other. They were the lowest-ranking, least combat-capable grunts in the pirate crew. While the captain could casually spend over a million berries to buy a flying dagger, they didn't have that much money. This game seemed simple and appeared to be an opportunity to make some.

"You go first," Vivi generously said.

Paper-Flipping required skill. Before the flip card hit the ground, strength wasn't the determining factor. Mindset and positioning were also crucial.

A burly-looking pirate exerted quite a bit of force and smashed the blue flip card, but Karoo's red flip card just jumped up in place and didn't flip over as expected.

"You lost," Vivi smiled. She looked at the faces of the pirates and said, "Don't say I didn't give you a chance. You can come one by one, and we'll calculate the overall score."

All seven pirates agreed to play Paper-Flipping. Even though Vivi let them go first, one pirate lost, and Karoo flipped the flip card. Then the next pirate stepped up, and Karoo flipped it again. Without exception, all seven pirates lost in seven rounds.

"Now, are you going to pay or..." Vivi asked.

The first pirate, with a fierce and ferocious expression, had a malicious glint in his eyes. It was impossible for him to pay up! As for getting slapped in the face? He couldn't afford to lose his reputation!

He pulled out a somewhat worn-out pistol, pointed it at Vivi, and twisted his face in anger as he roared, "What did you say? I couldn't hear you clearly! Hahaha! Fool, times have changed!"

Vivi knew it would turn out like this and sighed inwardly. The people in this world had no integrity at all.

People in this world possessed extraordinary physical abilities. She was naturally fast enough to avoid bullets. She had various methods to deal with such situations, like using a chain to sever the opponent's arm or directly disarming him. However, those methods didn't align with her character.

Having anticipated this situation, she snapped her fingers next to Miss Monday, who stood beside her.

Miss Monday, with muscles as sculpted as a bodybuilding champion, enjoyed her job as a brawler. She took a step forward, extending her left hand and directly crushing the pirate's firearm. Then, with a shout that startled her opponent, her explosive muscles rippled, from her legs to her waist, from her waist to her shoulders, and finally, her arm swung out, delivering a massive fist the size of a sandbag, which struck the gun-wielding pirate's face.

Bang!

A low "bang" resounded as Miss Monday's fist carried a powerful gust of wind. Swift and precise, the punch landed solidly on the pirate's face, turning it into a mushy mess, and sending him flying more than ten meters backward. Blood, broken teeth, and viscous fluid scattered all over the ground.

Miss Monday casually wiped her fist, as if nothing had happened. Vivi looked towards the remaining six pirates, revealing a radiant smile. "Did you brave sailors see that? The times haven't really changed. Will you pay up or get slapped?"

All six of them chose to get slapped. Vivi instructed Miss Monday to slap them one by one.

Including the earlier guy, there were a total of seven people who received resounding slaps, one after another.

Vivi didn't organize this game to make money. The pirates who came to play paper-flipping were all poor. Even if she stripped them of everything, it wouldn't amount to much. She did it to continue studying her "golden finger."

She wanted to test if physical confrontations at this level, like slapping, could trigger any attributes. Furthermore, she was curious to know if these attributes had a time limit.

Taking advantage of the break while Miss Monday slapped the pirates, Vivi brought the pet duck, who was eagerly ready to continue playing, closer to her. In the bewildered gaze of the duck, she once again activated the panel and focused on the time section. After some thought, she settled on a duration of "ten seconds."

Even though she couldn't see any bright spots at the moment, she could observe the duck's actions as it bent down to pick something up. Vivi nodded with satisfaction. It wasn't easy to control the intensity of physical fights, if she wasn't careful, they could accidentally beat someone to death. These pirates didn't seem to possess any skills worth learning directly, and it would be a waste to kill them outright. The current situation was just perfect.
