Two people, who might come aboard

"This Island sure is lively."

I changed the course from the port to the rocky beach.

Whatever happened there, I should not get involved.

After reaching the shore, I tied my boat to a large rock and took my things to leave.

"Hey you can't tie your boat here without giving a docking fee !" A voice stopped me in my tracks.

Turning around I saw a man wearing some type of armour and holding a long spear running towards me.

As he came near, he panted a bit. Probably a soldier of the native ruler.

"You have to pay a docking fee if you want to dock your boat in your In the Island.

"What's the fee ?" My voice was deep. I was trying to be as neutral as possible but I guess, I scared him.

He backed away a few steps.

"Heeeee ! Fi-Fifty berries per day !"

I took out a note of hundred berries from my pocket and threw at him. The paper money flew straight at him and knocked him out of his ass.

Well I guess I used a little too much strength.

"Two days." I jumped on the ground and headed to the town inside the island.

There was a massive castle in the middle of the island that is visible all the way to the coast. Around the castle, there was a large town.

Thriller bark is a big island. It might seem small in the map, but it was definitely not the smallest island in the west blue.

It was a unique Island. For the first time, I was seeing multi-storied buildings in a normal Island. And by multi-storied, I mean, all of them were at least 6-7 storied buildings. And all of them were closely stacked together in the middle of the island, around the castle. While I was entering the town, I could see many soldiers rushing towards the dock. Probably to investigate the explosion.

I needed to find a few people, who will be willing to come with me into the seas. It won't be easy. But if I am going to sail in the real world, then I will need at least someone to fish me out of the ocean, if by chance I fall into it.

So before securing an inn to spend the night I decided to go into a local bar to gather some information on the island. From what can I see so far, the entire Island is full of out laws. Surely, securing a couple of people for my crew won't be that hard.

Thinking about it I entered a local tavern.

The place was lively. I went to a common table where many people were eating food instead of just drinking alcohol.

"What can I get for you, dear guest ?" A girl around twelve asked me. She was scared of me. It was written all over her face. But she has gathered up enough courage to ask me. It was really commendable.

She was holding a wooden board.

Looking closely, I was actually surprised that they have a menu here.

"Ommurice and meat stew. Bring me five plates from each."

Those were the most expensive food I can see on the menu. 200 and 350 berries for each plate respectively. It has been years since I have eaten meat stew. So I don't mind spending a few thousand berries on food.

"Coming right up !" The girl left immediately. Maybe excited that she got a big order.

While I was waiting for my food two more people, a girl around my own age and an old man around his eighties, came to sit on the sharing table, beside me.

"Here, is your order dear customer. The rest is coming soon." The waitress put two plates of ommurice and two bowls of meat stew in front of me.

"What can I get for you, dear guest ?" The waitress started taking order from the duo. But while I was eating I felt like the girl was somehow familiar. But I just couldn't put my finger on it.

I dismissed the matter as I focused on my food.

"You sure can eat a lot." The girl who was waiting for her food said to me.

I was surprised by the comment. Not because of the comment, but that she talked with me in the first place. The thing was, everyone was avoiding me in the tavern. Maybe because the way I look or because of my scars. But looking at the girl, I couldn't see any trace of fear in her eyes. But it was one that of curiosity.

"You are not afraid of me ?" I asked her in a neutral tone. During my time in the Mariejoice, my voice box has been ripped apart many times and then healed afterwards. So my natural voice was deep and broken like a chain smoker.

But even after listening to my voice the girl didn't show any trace of fear.

"No, but why are you asking that question ? Is it because of your scars ?" She asked me instead.

"Usually." I answered briefly and then focused on my meal.

But while I was eating, I could feel the distress of the old man through my observation haki.

He was not afraid of me. Instead he was sympathetic towards me.

"Not much of a talker, are you ? Well fine I guess. By the way, I am Kureha." The girl spoke to me.

Her name was enough to send my mind into overdrive. Everything clicked into place as I realised who the girl was, and why her face seemed familiar to me.

She was known other than doctor Kureha or docterine.

I paused my eating.

"Monkey D. Maki, and I don't like talking while I am eating." I answered her as I continued to eat. I didn't know why I told her my full name. But it kinda slipped from my tongue.

But as soon as I told her my name, I sensed that, the old man tensed even further.

I was really curious about the duo and what she was doing in the West blue of all the places. And why here, in such a law less Island.

So after finishing my food when I was waiting for the next plate to come, I decided to start a conversation.

"By the way you don't seem, you belong here. Are you travelling ?" I asked her.

"Why do you ask ?" She asked back.

'I guess she is really smart.'

"I am travelling to the grandline. And I wanted a few crew members for my caravel." I replied back. I didn't know why I was just saying her everything going on with me. But it felt like I was going to get her and the old man as my companion.

Master is going in the right direction. Kureha and her grandfather are in trouble and searching for a way to escape.

It would be beneficial for master if she helps them.

Now I understood what I was feeling before. It was the system who was trying to guide me. And I was subconsciously doing it.

Even though I didn't like being manipulated, this time I didn't see any problem in helping the duo.
