Chapter 14

Title: Haki...

  -Ace POV-

As I hear Sabo ask me that I didn't answer him as I concentrate on trying to sense some kind of aura at least. After all, Haki is willpower, but at the same time, it is something more. 

I lightly punch the tree in front of me. What am I missing? My body strength is sufficient, my willpower should also be stronger. I can handle crazy amounts of pain now. What am I missing? 

Suddenly I am struck by a realization. What I miss isn't physical or spiritual, it's my mindset. I must think... no I myself must believe that I can do it. It's only natural that I can harden my skin by using my willpower.

I know that I have an invisible armor around me that enhances my attack. It's only natural... no... it's always been this way. I have always been able to do this, I CAN DO THIS!!!!

Pow!!!

The tree in front of me is destroyed as I punch it. I know that I didn't use anywhere near enough power to destroy the tree.

"I got it... I finally got Haki..." I think out loud as I can feel the smile on my face. I finally got it, the first step to my strength.

I concentrate and zone out Sabo as he seems to be asking something. It doesn't matter, I must concentrate on the task in front of me. I can't forget the feeling that I got from using Haki.

I punch another tree lightly. 

*crack*

The tree cracks, no I must use more Haki? I bring my fist backward and punch another tree.

POW!!!

*break* The tree falls down as I punch it lightly. 

I take a deep breath and keep that feeling of 'concentrating' in my arm and punching forward.

Pow!

Another tree falls down on my training. I can't lose this feeling, or I feel that I will not be able to duplicate it for quite a while anymore if my body doesn't remember it.

….

I continue doing this for two hours straight, fully concentrating on the Haki as it feels like an invisible armor surrounding me. I now remember the feeling of it. I am able to use it whenever I want, now I just need to figure out how to get Hardening.

I just take a deep breath and kick the ground.

Boom!

It creates a crack all around my kick, the crack is about as big as my whole body. This is amazing, I have never been able to do this so easily, even though I have had stronger than most physical strength.

-Sabo POV-

I couldn't help it as my mouth was open as I saw Ace absolutely destroy the environment around him. I have always had a clear vision of his strength, I thought that when I am eight years old I will be as strong as Ace is now.

I can see the excitement on his face, he just got access to this "Haki" thing and I saw him become way stronger. I guess his Kung-Fu training wasn't for nothing.

-General POV-

After Ace gets used to his Armament Haki, he looks at Sabo and smirks. He runs towards the tree that Sabo is sitting on and grasps it.

"Oy! Ace, what the hell are you gonna do?" Wanders Sabo, he knows that when Ace has that smile on his face, nothing good is gonna come out of this.

Ace starts roughly shaking the tree he was sitting on. "C'mon Sabo! We are going!"

Sabo jumps down from the tree as he sees this. "Why do you do this every time?"

Ace smiles at that. "Well, it's more fun this way. Plus it shows my cool side."

Sabo sighs at this, Ace is the smartest person he knows… but he does so many silly things sometimes.

They run towards Portgas town quickly, and due to them jumping from tree to tree, they are even faster. 

During the walk back, Sabo brings up that they should start making some money before they start their journey.

Ace smiles at that and says. "Of course. I already have a plan for that."

….

Once they arrive in the town, everyone greets Ace and as they walk, he greets one of the shopkeepers. 

"Oy! Old man Striker heard that your daughter got married recently. Congratulations!" Says Ace, smiling at a bald shopkeeper with a white beard.

"Gah! Don't remind me of it, Ace!" Complains the old man. "Now that she has moved into that corrupted town, she will rarely come to visit. Also, I don't approve of the husband at all, he doesn't even seem to like me."

"Didn't you shoot him in the arm the first time you met?" Questions Ace. "He had balls to dare and still marry your daughter even after that. Were you at the wedding?"

"Yeah, but they didn't let me take my gun with me in the ceremony." Complains the old man, an annoyed scowl is now very apparent on his face.

'Yeah, no wonder they didn't let you in with a gun. They were scared you were gonna shoot the groom again.' Ponders Ace. "Don't worry old man, if she doesn't visit, I will help you drag that scared husband of hers here."

The old man's mood brightens once he hears that and a smile appears on his face. "Well, I can count on you for that then Ace."

Ace smiles at this and waves at the old man as he walks. "See you later, old man Striker."

"See ya around Ace." Says the old man, now in a brighter mood as he looks after his shop, which sells toys for kids.

Ace then arrives at a small house in the corner of the town. The house is slightly bigger than the others. He opens the door, it's not locked because he doesn't need to lock it. What is anyone even gonna steal from him? Some chairs, a bed, cooking utensils? 

Plus he knows that no people from the town will steal from him. The people who come to stay in the town don't dare anything like this, is it worth it stealing if you will then have a whole town chase after you, wanting to kill you.

Ace goes towards his room and Sabo goes towards his own. Ace enters his own room and starts taking off his clothes. The room is simple, with a small window, a simple desk made out of wood, a wooden chair, and a normal-looking bed. There is also a shelf to the side, it has countless medical books. He has been gathering whatever books he can get his hands on.

Ace changes his clothes, one who won't smell like grass and trees. He then lies on his bed and not even two seconds later he falls asleep.

Though it is afternoon, Ace still feels a little tired.

Once morning came around, Ace slept around fourteen hours and his eyes opened immediately. Unlike normal people, he is fully alert as soon as he wakes up.

He looks at the sunlight coming from the window, he can determine that it's around six in the morning. 

He gets up and starts reading his medical books.

….

He does this for two hours, and by eight in the morning, he notices that Sabo has woken up and cooked some breakfast.

….

After they eat breakfast, they do their morning training by using some weights made by Ace, they are just heavy clunks of metal. At around ten in the morning, they hear a knock on the door.

*knock* *knock* *knock*...

Ace is the one to go and open the door. He sees that it is Jason, his old friend. 

"Ace!" Calls out Jason, his mustache has grown thicker over the last year. "There are rumors of a man with a 5,000,000 ß bounty appearing on Goa City. He is "The Slasher" Spenser."

Ace frowns slightly at this.
