Kaido was unable to see the wound himself, but the sharp pain was a clear indicator that he had sustained a serious injury.

His subordinates, however, had a clear view of the damage. There was a gaping hole in Kaido's back, so large that any of them could have fit their head through it.

To Kaido, the size of the wound might not have seemed significant, but to those watching, particularly those close by, it was a shocking sight.

They could even see Kaido's heart pulsating within the wound, nearly destroyed by Brontes's powerful attack.

"I almost reached it." Brontes said quietly, observing the hole in Kaido's back with a hint of pity in his voice.

"Trying to destroy my heart? It's a good strategy, but you've underestimated me." Kaido responded in a chilling tone. Without warning, he turned around and threw a punch aimed at Brontes's head.

"Boom!"

The sound echoed, but Kaido's fist met only air. Brontes had moved with such speed that he left an afterimage behind, reappearing in the sky above Kaido.

"His speed has increased significantly." Kaido noted, not showing concern for his painful injury. He entered into the half-dragon mode and charged at Brontes with terrifying speed.

"ZliZli!"

"Are you in a rush to get beaten?" Brontes taunted, surrounded by crackling electricity, as he watched Kaido approach in his half-dragon form.

Kaido's transformation made him a much larger target, which seemed to play into Brontes's hands.

"Kaise! Activate the Thunderclouds Mode!" Brontes called out to his second-in-command, who was stationed on the warship below.

"Right away, sir!" Kaise replied instantly, engaging the warship's thundercloud generation system. A stream of black smoke shot up into the sky.

Even in his dragon form, Kaido was a fearsome sight. Any average person would be paralyzed with fear at the sight of him.

But Brontes noticed something peculiar—the wound on Kaido's back had vanished after his transformation.

This disappearance suggested that either Kaido's injury had healed or his transformation had triggered a state in his body that allowed for instant recovery from all damage.

This made Brontes even more intrigued by Kaido's origins. He briefly entertained the thought of sending Kaido to Dr. Vegapunk for research.

However, he knew that capturing Kaido was nearly impossible; no prison could contain him. The Marines had tried and failed many times before.

"Boom!!"

The sound of their fists colliding resonated through the air. Brontes was sent flying backward by Kaido's powerful counterattack. Kaido, standing on dark clouds with his body enveloped in black lightning, was the legendary Azure Dragon, unafraid of lightning.

As the clouds above became thicker and the electrical energy intensified, Brontes realized he might have made a mistake. It appeared that Kaido could also manipulate the lightning within the clouds.

"Worororo! Kid, thanks for these thunderclouds. They're exactly what I need!" Kaido bellowed with laughter.

A terrifying force emanated from his massive dragon body, dominating the sky and earth, and even Brontes felt himself pushed back by the sheer pressure of Kaido's presence.

Lightning strikes didn't seem to bother him at all. Even when Brontes called down lightning from the storm clouds to hit Kaido, it was useless. Kaido's body acted like it was totally resistant to the lightning's power.

"I didn't think you could control lightning that you didn't make yourself." Brontes said, feeling surprised.

"Rumble!!"

"Do you really think you know all there is to know about me from one fight? That's pretty naive!" Kaido laughed out loud.

As he did, lightning shot out from him, and the thunderclouds overhead roared along with his booming voice.

But the truth was, lightning didn't do anything to either of them. They were both immune, so their fight was at a standstill, with neither able to get the upper hand.

With no other choice, Brontes pulled out his white spear, but Kaido, half-transformed into a beast with dragon scales, was almost impossible to hurt. The spear's tip could barely scratch him, with his eyes being the only spot that seemed vulnerable.

"Boom! Rumble!"

But Kaido didn't give him much of a chance to attack. The fight had reached a point where lightning was no use to either of them.

"I'm curious. Why did you come to save the former Chief Warden of Impel Down, King?" Brontes asked. He suddenly appeared behind Kaido and tried to stab him with his spear.

Kaido quickly turned and flung Brontes off, then slashed his claw, breaking Brontes's body into streaks of lightning.

"I've known him for a long time. I just recently asked him to join my pirate crew." Kaido said, not hiding the truth.

"So that's how it is. You must have met him back when you were in Impel Down, right? I didn't think he'd actually turn his back on the World Government and the Marines to join your crew." Brontes said in a serious voice.

"A smart person changes with the times. He realized that staying in prison was just wasting his skills and what he could become. The sea is where he belongs. With the freedom to fly, the vast sea will be his new home." Kaido replied in a cold voice.

"I can't let you take him. Even though I don't think too much of him, him joining the Beasts Pirates is a threat. Your crew would get a lot stronger." Brontes said, staying calm.

"So what? I already decided to take him. Do you think you can stop me?" Kaido shouted. He suddenly changed back from his half-dragon form and in a flash, he was above Brontes.

With his fist clenched tight, he punched down at Brontes's face from above, knocking him out of the sky.

"Boom!!!"

Brontes hit the ground like a bolt of lightning, creating a huge pit.

"Admiral!"

The marines on the warship were shocked. They all rushed to the side of the ship, shouting in shock and worry.

"Rumble! ZliZli!"

Lightning burst from the pit, and Brontes reappeared not too far away, without a scratch on him.

"Woosh!"

Suddenly, a huge figure dropped from the sky. Kaido's hands were locked together, forming a massive fist, and as he fell, he slammed it down toward Brontes like a hammer.

"Boom!!!"

The ground exploded right away, not just where they were, but the whole island and the surrounding sea felt the impact. A circular shockwave blasted out to sea in an instant.

The clash created huge waves like tsunamis, and Kaido's and Brontes's crews had to hold on tight to their ships to keep from being swept away by the waves.

"Yoooo! Kaido-sama!!"

The Beasts Pirates' ship erupted in cheers. They had seen it with their own eyes; Kaido's massive fist should have crushed Brontes's head. No one could survive a hit like that from Kaido, or so they thought.

They were convinced Brontes was gone for good. To them, Kaido was nearly invincible, with only a few exceptions. What chance did an admiral have? Surely, he would be defeated by their captain.

As the shockwave faded, Kaido was the first to be seen, frozen in the stance of his punch. His fist hovered about three meters above the ground.

When the dust settled, they finally got a clear view of Brontes beneath Kaido's fist.

"What is that?!"

Everyone's eyes went wide at the sight of Brontes, and the marines, including Kasie, stared in disbelief.

...

"Is that giant our Admiral?"

"How did he get like that?!"

"The Admiral looks so strong and cool!"

"You finally used it." Kaido said, his voice filled with excitement as he looked down at Brontes, who was holding back his fist with both hands, a wide grin on his face.

"If you want to try that move again, I'm ready. Just don't let me down." Brontes replied, lifting his head, his voice now deeper and rougher.

"You're talking big for someone who just took a serious beating." Kaido sneered, pulling back his fist and then thrusting his right arm forward, now covered in dragon scales and a layer of Armament Haki.

"Thor's Enhancement!"

...

With Thor's Enhancement, Brontes had transformed significantly. He would always remain in his physical form, which meant he couldn't enter into the elementalize form. He now stood three meters tall, his body swollen as if pumped full of air.

His body was covered in bulging muscles and surrounded by blue and white lightning. Brontes felt like he was overflowing with endless power.

His new look was reminiscent of Killua Zoldyck from the anime series, using his Nen ability, but Brontes was much more muscular and taller.

Though Brontes's Thor's Enhancement was smaller than Enel's Amaru form, in terms of raw power, they were on entirely different levels.

"Haah!"

Brontes clenched his fist and swung it up to meet Kaido's punch.

"Boom!! Rumble!!"

Their fists collided, setting off a massive explosion. Black and blue lightning erupted, and the pressure wave that followed shook the entire island.

Both Kaido's and Brontes's crews at sea watched in shock, unable to believe what they were seeing.

"How is this possible?" Kaido's crew was in disbelief. They had never seen anyone take on Kaido's might head-on, except for legends like Whitebeard, Big Mom, and Garp the Naval Hero.

But here was Brontes, matching Kaido in a test of strength, proving he was not far behind in power.
