Chapter 99: Targeting Crocodile

Morgans rubbed his hands... or rather, his wings together, somewhat embarrassed, and asked, 

"So, um... can you tell me in advance which Warlord you plan to take down?" He knew this was a bold question. 

If such information leaked, it could easily alert the Warlord, complicating matters for the mysterious 'Night' organization. 

But Morgans couldn't suppress his curiosity. To him, big news was the essence of his existence.

Byakuya responded directly, "It's Crocodile. This is our first collaboration. If it goes well, there might be more in the future. Don't let me down." 

This was due to his confidence in his strength. Even if Crocodile found out, so what? 

If Byakuya couldn't handle Crocodile, he might as well consider himself a failure.

As a professional newsman, Morgans understood how rare it was to have a partner who could provide such big news. 

He promised earnestly, "Rest assured, the information won't leak before you act." 

Byakuya continued, "After we start our operation, we'll send you a recording of Den Den Mushi." 

"You need to spread the footage recorded by the Den Den Mushi across the entire sea as quickly as possible."

Morgans assured him, thumping his chest, "Don't worry. With my news agency's reach, the entire sea will know within a day." 

"I hope we have a successful collaboration!" 

Byakuya said, leaving behind a faint parting remark as he, Lucci, and Blueno vanished through one of Blueno's Air Doors.

Watching their eerie departure, Morgans' eyes narrowed. 

He finally understood how they had bypassed his guards and appeared behind him. 

But knowing it didn't help; such an ability couldn't be countered. Blueno Door-Door Fruit was highly useful but limited by its strength and the fruit's development. 

The range of this teleportation-like ability wasn't very far. 

At Blueno's current level, the maximum range was about five kilometers, and he could only use it five times consecutively before exhausting his strength, requiring a period of recovery.

The trio emerged from the Air Door and briefly suspended in the air using Moonwalk, one of the Marines' Six Powers. 

Unsurprisingly, Lucci asked, "Byakuya-sama, are we going after Crocodile now?" 

Lucci wasn't doubting Byakuya's strength. He knew Byakuya's true identity as a Marine Rear Admiral, an ally to the Warlords under the World Government. 

He was puzzled why Byakuya would suddenly target Crocodile. 

After discovering Byakuya's identity, Lucci collected information on him, noting that Byakuya seemed to have significant conflicts with 'Heavenly Yaksha' Doflamingo, another Warlord.

Faced with Lucci's question, Byakuya didn't offer much explanation, saying simply, 

"Once you reach the Kingdom of Alabasta, see what Crocodile has done." 

"You'll understand why we in the 'Night' organization are acting, especially considering your declaration when joining us." Lucci was taken aback. 

Was the declaration really for world peace? Please don't be ridiculous; he hadn't seen anything related to peace from Byakuya.

Seeing Lucci's puzzled expression, Byakuya smiled under his mask. It wasn't for world peace but rather for the World Source Power. 

The trio didn't rely on Moonwalk for long distances, as Bruno and Lucci's stamina couldn't support such a journey. 

Instead, they hijacked a random pirate crew's ship and set sail for the Kingdom of Alabasta.

At this time, the Kingdom of Alabasta had been suffering from a drought, with no rain outside the capital, Alubarna, for two years. 

Under Crocodile's deliberate schemes, the citizens believed that the drought was caused by the king secretly using the rain-enhancing substance Dance Powder, which led to ongoing civil war and heavy casualties. 

Meanwhile, the rebellious citizens saw the real culprit, Crocodile, as a savior and a hero.

Once the rebels dealt with the king, Cobra, Crocodile planned to ascend the throne as a hero, take control of Alabasta, and search for the ancient weapon Pluton. 

This series of plans showed why Crocodile was considered a formidable mastermind. 

If it weren't for Luffy, who defeated Crocodile despite not knowing Haki, Crocodile might have succeeded in seizing the kingdom and finding Pluton. 

But, as Oda wouldn't allow it, fate had other plans. On their journey, Byakuya and his team realized the importance of having a good ship. 

Even at full speed, every vessel they commandeered barely lasted three days. 

These makeshift ships would fall apart in less than a day in extreme weather. 

The journey made Byakuya appreciate the durability of even the Marine-standard ships he once disdained.

With dark clouds covering the sky and purple lightning striking the sea, their current ship could only withstand half a day before breaking apart. 

Byakuya grabbed Lucci in one hand and Bruno in the other, using Armament Haki to shield them from the storm, and he angrily used Moonwalk. 

"Damn it, when I see Crocodile, I'm going to crush him! Making me suffer like this!"

If any expert saw Byakuya's actions, they'd likely be scared witless. 

Using Armament Haki as if it were free, covering his entire body to block the rain? 

Carrying two people while flying through the storm without breaking a sweat? Even the toughest workhorse wouldn't dare to push itself so hard.

Seeing Byakuya's furious demeanor, Lucci and Bruno didn't dare breathe too loudly, fearing they might provoke him. 

Because of their lack of stamina, Byakuya had to carry them. 

Both were Devil Fruit users, and they knew if Byakuya got angry and let go, they'd end up drowning.

"Look at you two weaklings," Byakuya scolded, "how can you call yourselves agents with such pitiful stamina? After this mission, all of CP9 will undergo rigorous training!"

Lucci and Bruno nodded frantically, terrified of displeasing Byakuya. They knew if he let them go out of frustration, they'd end up as fish food in the sea.
