Chapter 48: True Nature II

"I feel a bit uncomfortable," Yovan murmured, seated on the crow's head.

"Don't say?" Kalifa sarcastically responded, "I'm surprised it only took you one week to wake up. I thought you'd sleep for eternity, saving everyone from ever looking at your gorgeous self."

He was indeed gorgeous. He was even skinnier than he previously was if that was even possible. At least he was hiding most of his body as he was wearing black pants, a sweater, and boots, all black.

He further had his cape on, his white gold-lined cape. He just placed it on his shoulders, following the example of nearly every pirate and even Marines.

His face, however, was there for all to see. At this point, skinny wasn't the right word to describe him because he didn't seem like he have any flesh at all.

It made his crew wonder how he can function. It was indeed quite odd, especially knowing that nearly every bone of his is broken as a result of Don's shockwave attacks.

His hair was also almost completely white with only traces of golden about. He sometimes wonders when he'll start balding, but thankfully, it doesn't seem to be anytime soon.

"I, unfortunately, had to wake up because I saw a nightmare, and you were in it." Yovan shook his head. His eyes were dazed as if he was trying to erase a memory from his mind.

"What does that me... Nevermind." Kalifa realized that she took the bait a bit too late.

"I saw a world where you don't put on makeup, so I had to go back to the real world where you always put on makeup... Thank god for that." Yovan even nodded appreciatively at her.

"What did you say bitch!? You sexual harasser pervert crazy ugly man!!" Kalifa was actually mad because, "I never do makeup because I don't need it! How dare you?!"

"Hm?" Yovan looked at her strangely. He had a grin of amusement on his face as he said, "I was just joking. You're actually gorgeous."

"Huh? What?" Kalifa doubted her ears.

'New ammo. Nicely done Yovan!' Yovan congratulated himself in his mind, finding another weakness of hers.

"Cap! This place is amazing!" A second later, Laffitte landed next to Yovan, crouching next to him as he had just come back from a nearby city.

"Oh? Tell me about it." Yovan asked with curiosity.

"I'll tell you! I'll tell you!" Kaku also jumped right next to Yovan with excitement apparent on his face, "There are a lot of animals!"

"That's it?" Yovan questioned with confusion, "I thought the Animal Kingdom would be more special in some way. Like, it couldn't possibly be just animals, right?"

"It's not just animals! It's special animals! They look so cool and cute! They're like cyoooo yuu wooo and suuuuuiiii!!" Kaku seemed to be genuinely excited.

"And they're so harvestable! Like, can you imagine, like, poisoning them? Singing to them to death? Perhaps we can make a slaughterhouse, and see what'll happen if we throw them inside!!?" Laffitte was also excited, just in an odd way.

"Say what?" Kaku stood up, eyeing Laffitte strangely, a look reeking of murderous intent.

"So stupid," Bege shook his head at Laffitte's words, "Why not be more creative? What if we create a colosseum and let them all fight to the death? That'd be..."

Now Kaku's murderous intent was latched onto them both as he seemed to be on the verge of exploding until Yovan started laughing, "Yahahaha hahaha, I... Ahem, anyway, did you get me the thing?"

Whatever he wanted to say, he kept to himself after seeing Kaku eyeing him carefully. The latter hastily brought out an exquisite metallic mask from his backpack and handed it to him.

Yovan looked over the mask carefully. It was a silver helmet with strangely only small unnoticeable slits for one to see. It had a bunch of engravings all over it in the shape of flames, looking very exquisite.

"It's lovely," Yovan nodded as he put it on, and well, it suited him well, especially since it hides his skin very well.

"Now, let's go explore!!" Yovan seemed different. They expected him to be a bit depressed due to what happened. However, he seemed to have taken it well.

In fact, he didn't seem to care, even appearing quite energetic as he placed his cape on the side before entering his hybrid form, giving birth to two vast black wings.

Only in his Hybrid form and beast form can he create and control the feathers of desperation, and he did so to form a cloud of feathers beneath him because he can't walk.

Kalifa joined Yovan on the cloud before it started elevating while Laffitte lifted Bege alongside him by the neck before flying up. Kaku just jumped.

Before them was a very high cliff leading to the Animal Kingdom. It was a relatively small kingdom, preferring to keep to themselves.

The kingdom's inhabitants live on a high Island, elevated very high from the ocean, and that keeps them mostly safe from pirates.

The Island may seem small in diameter at first glance, but what it lacks girth, it compensates for in length. Even its trees are colossal.

Yovan wanted to explore the place slowly, so he along with his crew moved through the forest inside of flying above it.

"The fuck is that?" Yovan questioned with curiosity, seeing something quite odd.

"I don't know? Goacock or something?" Laffitte shrugged, "isn't Goat meat edible? Should we?"

"Take it as a pet? Hell yeah!" Kaku jumped right next to the animal. Kind of a peacock with a goat's head.

The Goacock was watching the group from between the bushes, and it immediately jumped away in alarm at Kaku's excitement as it flared its green tail.

"It looks ugly?" Yovan eyed Kaku strangely. He had some strange taste. They came upon similar interactions throughout their exploration.

Every single animal they came upon was very much afraid of them as if not used to humans, and every animal was very odd, almost like a combination of many different animals.

Kaku wanted to faint with how cool this place was, and even Yovan was fascinated by the place.

"Hey! Don't touch it! Are you okay??" Yovan questioned with a look of disgust on his face.

"HUh? WHy??" Kaku wondered while crouching next to a cock slime looking thing. Whatever it was, it was spitting some white gooey shit.

"Do you have a brain?! I swear if you touch it, you'll have to stay in the bath for a month!" Bege was especially disgusted as he leaped backward.

"They're just joking. Eat it." Laffitte kindly advised.

'Aghh, what's up with this group?' Kalifa could only facepalm, especially after hearing Yovan continue.

"That's a good point. Go ahead, eat it and tell us how it tastes?" Curiosity got the better of Yovan.

"What? I don't wanna eat it!" Kaku shook his head, looking at them like idiots, "I wanna take it as a pet."

It was their turn to look at him like an idiot as they said in unison, "Kaku... Are you, like... Do you lean that way?"

Kaku was confused as he questioned back, "What way? I'm obviously crouching now, no?"

"Yo, Kalifa, is he possibly that clueless?" Yovan asked.

"Yup, he isn't a pervert like you." Kalifa nodded.

It took them about ten hours to reach the nearest city because they had to stop, like every minute, and admire or otherwise hate on animals on their way.

And finally, they reached the central city of the Animal Kingdom. It was the place they visited without Yovan to get him a suitable mask because he might be mistaken for Satan at this point.

There was a colossal wooden gate, and it was opened. Before the gate were two guards, both were humanoid pink bears with wide orb-like eyes.

On top of the gate was a wooden plank, and written on it was the name of the city, Midori No Tengoku.
