Chapter 66: The Final Piece I
...........
"Hm? Cap! Why did your bounty poster change from only wanted Alive to Dead or Alive?" Laffitte wondered with curiosity before pouring a bottle of water on his sweaty head.
"Because I did something they didn't expect, so they're okay with me dying." Yovan shrugged, shirtless, and maskless.
"You know, Cap. I'm starting to be very envious of your state. Like, you're so much of a skeleton that you can't even sweat. God, I hate sweating!! Ir ruins my beauty." Laffitte complained, also shirtless.
"Agreed. Sweating ruins my kid... I mean, my suits." Bege nodded, very much agreeing.
"Hey! Don't lump yourself with me!! I'm not the one wearing a suit in a fucking desert! Weirdo!" Laffitte yelled before pouring another bottle of water over himself.
Bege ignored his question, seemingly out of embarrassment, and instead asked, "By the way, where did you send Antarisa?"
"Hm? Some Island in the Calm Belts, I think? Boo... Boa recommended it to me due to Antarisa's laziness. It's named... Ahhh, let me think."
By let me think, he meant let me open my notebook, "Oh, Rusukaina Island. Apparently, it's very dangerous, filled with monstrous animals."
"Oh, is she gonna be okay alone?" Bege wondered, knowing of her laziness.
"Nah, Hancock told me she'd likely die. I hope not." Yovan responded, not seeming worried at all.
"So why? And when did you become so close with that freak?" Bege asked.
"Because Hancock's Haki only made her lazier... It kind of made her more persistently lazier. Like, her willpower is immense when it comes to remaining lazy... It annoyed the hell out of me."
It was apparent on his face. Those who don't want to push themselves aren't worthy of being a part of his crew.
"As for Hancock, well, I kind of regret giving her my Den Den Mushi number. She calls me all the time to yell at me, and preach her beauty to me... Kind of annoying, but she sometimes tells me valuable things."
"Come to think of it, why are we camping in the middle of the desert?" Laffitte wondered.
They were indeed in the middle of the desert, and Arabasta has never witnessed a more peculiar scenery because a colossal ship was lying right beside them, Seizon No Hono.
They were relaxing in the middle of the desert under the burning sun for some unknown reason.
That wasn't even the weirdest thing. The sand beneath them was shaking, vibrant with rapidly increasing intensity.
"Bathing in hotness with a bit of massage." Indeed, the source of vibration was Yovan himself as his hand was resting on the sand, transferring shockwaves through it.
"Bathing in hotness?" Laffitte was confused, "But you're right, the massage does feel great."
"God why does the sand feel so good," Yovan murmured.
"Ahn... Ahem, it does feel good," Laffitte agreed, feeling the sand shaking against his skin.
"Why the fuck are you moaning?" Bege asked with curiosity, "Does it actually feel that good?"
"So fucking good!" Laffitte nodded with a twisted smile.
"Why do I feel like we're doing something that should stay in the bedroom?" Bege wondered as he actually took off his suit, leaving only his pants before lying on the sand, "Ahmmm, nice."
They were acting very weird, innocently weird, but weird nonetheless. If that wasn't already weird, they soon stood up and started walking northwest, leaving the Ship behind them.
And well, they were all shirtless, even Yovan. He didn't seem to care about his looks anymore. Hell, he even walked into a specific town like that.
"Cap, why do you look like you're on the verge of falling over?" Laffitte asked with confusion much to the dismay of everyone around.
The town seemed to be extremely prosperous, and its inhabitants were certainly not used to seeing monster skeletons like Yovan, so imagine their surprise when they heard Laffitte's words.
'Because he's a fucking monster skeleton?!! How???' That's what was on their minds. What they would've yelled if not for their fear of the monster.
What's even weirder was his left arm. He doesn't have any, but that's not the weird thing, what was peculiar was the fact that the area seemed to be made of stone? Hancock's doing.
But they didn't know that Yovan having difficulty walking is actually an anomaly for his crew.
In fact, his crew would believe it if they were told he can walk normally without a heart. Give them some time, and they'll believe he's alive without a brain.
"These fucking bracelets are a scam!" Yovan lifted his hand to show them his bracelets, "Like, they're way too strong. I know they're supposed to suck me off, but this is too much, no?"
"The fuck are you saying? Did the heat get to you? How?" Laffitte questioned with disbelief.
"Wait... Don't tell me those are Seastones?" Bege asked with astonishment, "Just why?"
"I just wanted to see if I can walk with them, you know?" Yovan shrugged.
"No, I don't know?" Bege responded.
To be fair to Yovan. Whatever he was doing was working because just a week ago, wearing them made him collapse on the ground, but now he can walk and even use Kiryu Hasshoken!
However, he can not use his Devil powers at all no matter how much he tried, and he gets exhausted easily.
"I want food! Laffitte, get us some things to eat. We will walk in that direction!" Yovan instructed.
"Don't have any money though?" Laffitte responded.
"Hm? I don't feel like taking off my bracelets to get some money, so kindly ask for food." Yovan shrugged.
"Aghhh, this is hell, not a fucking vacation!" Bege complained, "My poor suit! Laffitte! Make me another suit please!!"
"If you allow me to fly you around, then sure!" Laffitte eagerly nodded with a twisted smile.
"Nevermind." Bege ran away, going to do his own thing, whatever that is.
Yovan stumbled his steps alone, seemingly touring the town until he reached he found himself a small fountain.
He assessed the depth of the fountain to make sure he can breathe while lying in it. He then did it much to the wonder of people around.
He was lying in its water, making him even more exhausted and powerless, but significantly more comfortable, "As I thought, I prefer coldness. It feels so good."
The heat was too much to the point that even Laffitte joined him, followed soon by Bege and the entirety of his men.
They pretty much took over the plaza as they started preparing for a party, a grand party.
"Amm, excuse me?" A guard finally took the courage to approach them, asking Yovan specifically, "Th-This is not a river nor the ocean... Can you please not use it as such?"
"Hmm, Mmmmm muuuurrr!" Yovan answered with water in his mouth.
"It's public property! So leave!" One of Bege's weakest men was courageous enough to approach the guard and yell something that made no sense.
But strangely, the guard seemed afraid as he ran away, "Cap! Did I do good???" Bege's subordinate then went on to ask Yovan.
"Muaauarm!" Yovan seemingly shrugged and said something.
"Yay!!" The man jumped in happiness before stumbling his steps to his fellow subordinates, "Hey! hey! You won't believe it, but the Captain said that I have the potential to be his right-hand man!!"
"We believe you, Tinny D. Sinj." They believe him and even said his full name, perhaps as a way to show respect though, for some unknown reason, they were holding their laugh back.
And so, a party took place right there and then until night. The tools and everything needed for a good party were kindly donated by the people of Rainbase city.
Apparently, Rainbase is a city located in Arabasta, one of the few cities within the country that continues thriving even during a strange drought that has taken over the country.
It was mostly thriving due to its gambling industry. Because of this, it has been referred to as the "City of Dreams".
So its people were very generous, giving away a lot of donations. How Laffitte and Bege's subordinates made it happen made perfect sense to Yovan, so he didn't bother giving it any thought.
"Captain! We accidentally took a piece of gold from a kind of casino not far from here. Apparently, its name is Rain dinners. Is it okay?" Tinny D. Sinj said, seeming a bit nervous.
"It was an accident, so it's okay!" Yovan shrugged before continuing on with devouring the food, finding it very helpful in alleviating the effects of Seastones.
Tinny D. Sinj ran back to his fellows, seeming very happy, "You see! I told you that the Captain with be okay with borrowing the golden crocodile head!!"
There was once a time when the Rain dinners, the town's most prosperous Casino had a figurehead on its top, a golden crocodile.
It was of important significance because it symbolizes the true owner of the Casino, Crocodile, the Desert King, also one of the Warlords of the Sea!!
