Chapter 139: Age Of Chaos I

...........

His Golden eye, staring at her with such intensity it reminded her of the horrifying event that just took place before her, and even her respect for her Captain or sadness for what happened couldn't dwindle her fear.

"Now explain. What brought you here?" Yovan asked as he narrowed his eye, glancing at Viola and Kalifa.

"We already interrogated her," Kalifa said, "Viola made sure no lies were told."

"I've been sent here by the warlord of the sea, named Bartholomew Kuma," Nico Robin explained herself.

"It seems to be the powers of his Devil Fruit as he sent me flying over a vast distance, from Paradise to here over the course of several days, and I was encased in an unbreakable paw bubble, so I couldn't escape." She further added.

"And he sent you here why? Or rather, how did you come across him?" Yovan asked with furrowed brows.

"I... He intercepted us as we approached Sabaody Archipelago, like he was looking for us... Why he sent me here, that I wonder myself," Robin responded with a bit of a frown.

Yovan glanced a Viola who nodded, confirming that what Robin said was the truth, causing him to hide his face or rather his changing expression as he realized something, 'Dragon.'

He soon took off his hand, showing his now calm face, and his two golden eyes. His right eye only had its iris golden, but his left one was entirely golden, seeming fiery as if it was the window to the sun.

And so, Yovan just looked at her. He did absolutely nothing. He just eyed Robin as his mind went into deep thought.

Nico Robin's face couldn't help but twitch, her expression turning for the worse, fear clear in her eyes. She realized that her future was in the hand of Yovan.

She realized more. Yovan was contemplating whether she should have a future or not. She was the calm one for she went through a lot, but in the face of death, she found fear.

However, that fear soon settled down as she let out a sigh of resignation. There was nothing she could do, not when he opened his fiery eye, a sign of his other identity, Apollo.

She already knows, but now she knows that he knows that she knows. She was now certain that the crows that visit the Straw Hats from time to time are actually from the Pantheon.

"What an interesting tale," Yovan murmured much to the confusion of everyone around him, "So maddeningly interesting, Yahahahahaha!"

Whatever tale he was talking about, he said nothing more about it as he stood up, looking down at Robin, "You'll be staying with us for a long while, so welcome to the crew."

"Say what?" Robin doubted her ears.

"Strangers! Antarisa!" He completely ignored her as he yelled, his voice acting like a miracle, summoning Antarisa to his side instantly as she started to rub her big head against him.

"Big Mom," Yovan murmured as he patted Antarisa, the now colossal white panther, her golden antlers grown beyond belief, "We'll be paying a visit to the Big Mom."

"Why?" Reiju asked with curiosity.

"To retrieve what's mine, Antarisa, the Painting," Yovan responded with a smile.

"Oh, I totally forgot about it," Laffitte muttered before his eyes lit up with unrivaled passion, "Such an offense! Blasphemy! We must punish her for this! Let's kill her! Please? Like, can you imagine two emperors dying within a week of each other? Sounds so sexy, no?"

"Hm," Yovan lightly stroked his chin in thought.

"Oh, tell me you don't actually find that sexy?" Kalifa interrupted his musing.

"Umm, I mean, it sounds cool? Bege thinks so as well, right right?" Yovan turned his attention to the high Capone Bege. He has been smoking way too many cigars for the past few days to stay awake.

"Ah? Yes yes, big means sexy," Bege nodded with vigor.

"What the fuck are you smoking?" Yovan questioned with his face twitching.

"Don't tell me you have been smoking that substance for the entirety of the past week?" Kalifa questioned, her face spasming in perplexity.

"Hah? No no, not big but fat, sexy sexy," Bege jumped from his seat to perform a comical dance that one would expect from anyone but him.

"Bad behavior!" Laffitte screamed as he lunged at him, taking the cigar from him, "This is bad stuff, I have to check for science," And he did check by taking a long deep smoke.

"Oh no," Kaku shook his head, knowing exactly the substance they were taking, "It's something we used to use on people to get information, but it's a bit too strong, a failed product."

"Ahem hem! Good good stuff! I mean, bad stuff," Laffitte barely held back his cough as he said, the stuff still not taking effect just yet.

"Hm?" Viola raised a brow as she asked, "If it truly has those properties, then why is it a failed product?"

"Well," It was Kalifa's turn to explain, dearly wanting to facepalm, "Taking only a little has the effect of keeping one very focused, but even a little bit more and they'd start saying things, all kinds of things."

"That's a good thing, no?" Reiju curiously asked.

"Not when what they say is never what we want to hear. In fact, they seem to lean more towards saying stuff we don't want to hear." Kalifa explained.

"Hay! give it back you skinny fuck!" Bege yelled as he lunged at Laffitte.

"AAA! Pervert! Get your hands off me!" Laffitte yelled and acted like a girl, "AH!? Only the Captain is allowed to touch me there! Stop!"

"You think I'd touch your boney fuck! Give it me back!!" Bege yelled.

"AHH! I'm saving my body for the Captain, you pervert!" Laffitte yelled again. The substance sure took effect quickly.

"Hehehehehe," Reiju couldn't hold back her giggle, finding their antics amusing as usual.

"Yahahahahaha!" Yovan joined her with his loud infectious laughter.

"Saving his body? What does that mean?" Kaku asked with confusion.

"Don't mind it, just Laffitte's usual delusions," Kalifa shook her head as she stood in front of Yovan, seemingly trying to protect him from something?

'Weirdos,' Nico Robin mused, a thought shared by almost all that came across this unstable crew, 'So chaotic, careless, and wild.'

She glanced at the laughing Yovan with a frown, 'So why do I feel like he's still in control? Why is he keeping me alive? What interesting tale was he talking about? How much does he know?'

Those who come across Yovan often find themselves with many questions, and no amount of answers would solve the whole mystery.

Yovan's smile as he eyed the moon says many things. His eyes burning with fires of survival and much more says a lot.

'Limitless. Misfortune. Suffering. Survival. Growth. Survival. Desires. Suffering. Survival. Death. Chaos. Evolving to become even more of a monster... More suffering, but we... I, I always survive.'

Those words were a tale, quite the interesting tale. Those words speak of his tale, his past and future both.

He came to this world, assuming it to be a hallucinating at first, but it was not. He found himself in a test that he can not get out of, Limitless is ruthless.

Limitless doesn't have a personality, it has a job, a purpose. It's only serving its purpose, finding an inheritor... How many before him tasted the ruthlessness of Limitless? Yovan wondered that a lot.

Perhaps none. Perhaps a few. Perhaps millions, billions, or even more. If there were any, none of them succeeded, and Yovan can see why.

Limitless is, after all, trying to kill him, such are the ways of misfortune, and there seems to be no end on the horizon.

To overcome Limitless, does he have to just survive? Or is there a hidden purpose he has to achieve? Limitless certainly made nothing clear.

Does that even matter to Yovan? He was once a relatively normal person, but now, he is very different. He is now a monster created out of necessity, necessity for survival.

And Yovan knows he will become even more of a monster, perhaps so monstrous that he will leave the bounds of humanity... Yovan knows.

He had seen the future, literally, but he also saw his own future, metaphorically... Death.
