Overconfidence leads to destruction

Arriving at Ryugu Palace, Kenshin was surprised to see two rows of royal guards raising their weapons when they saw Kenshin arrive.

"Isn't this a little too dramatic?" Kenshin asked Jinbe who was grinning beside him.

"Let go, don't mind the small details," Jinbe said as he pushed Kenshin forward entering the palace.

Kenshin could only step forward with an awkward look on his face when he saw the royal guard's serious expression, Hiyori who was walking beside him held his arm as she gave him a sweet smile.

Entering the palace Kenshin sighed in relief seeing that there were no more royal guards around he glanced around the huge hall and saw many familiar faces.

He also saw Fisher Tiger and Arlong along with the fishmen that were from the Fishman District as they were seated at the eastern side while Whitebeards commanders were seated at the western side.

Seated at the front were Neptune, Otohime, Whitebeard, Rayleigh, and Gaban.

Seeing Kenshin appear with a beauty in his arms Neptune couldn't help but grin while Whitebeard and Rayleigh both frown but didn't say anything.

"It appears that I was worried for nothing seeing you have a beauty beside you the whole time," Neptune said in a teasing tone.

Kenshin rubbed his nose with a slight smile on his face and replied, "Well having a beauty beside you really helps with the healing process."

"Hohoho, I could not agree with you more," Neptune said with a laugh while Kenshin and his group sat at the middle table that was prepared for them.

Otohime then gave the command for the foods to be brought out seeing that everyone has finally arrived making the room a lot more lively.

Neptune who already started drinking a while ago was already feeling a little tipsy as he started talking nonstop, "Kenshin, I am deeply indebted to you for helping our Fishman Island, If it wasn't for your intervention then I don't know what that world noble will do."

Kenshin only waved his hands and said dismissively, "It's all in the past now Neptune don't bring it up anymore."

Neptune nodded and still looked gratefully at Kenshin, he then looked at the minister of the right and commanded, "Bring the sword here."

The minister of the right immediately went and grabbed the sword, he then carefully placed it in front of Hiyori's table and bowed as he left.

Hiyori who was quietly eating looked at Kenshin suspiciously and asked, "Why did they give me this sword?"

Drinking his beer Kenshin pointed at the swords on her waist and asked back, "You are using Ame no Habakiri and Enma right?

Nodding her head she took out the two swords and showed them to Kenshin.

Pointing at the white scabbard Kenshin said, "Your Father bequeathed Ame no Habakiri to Momonosuke while he passed you Enma so technically you only have one sword that is why that sword in front of you will become your second sword."

Staring at the sword in front of her, she stretched her hands and took the sword as she inspected it closely.

"That sword is named "Mikazuki" one of the 12 supreme grade swords in the world." Kenshin surprising Hiyori.

Hiyori was stupefied hearing the name of the sword and immediately passed it to Kenshin saying, "This is too valuable, you should be the one to use it."

Holding her hands Kenshin replied with a smile on his face, "This sword is for you, with this sword in your hands I will be less worried if we ever face a strong opponent in the future knowing that you have the best swords in your hands."

"But. . ." Hiyori still wanted to deny but Whitebeard interrupted her.

"Take it, didn't you want to give him the devil fruit that I painstakingly searched just for you?" Whitebeard said as he threw a purple-colored apple towards Kenshin.

Catching the devil fruit Kenshin was now the one who gave Hiyori a questioning look.

"If you want me to accept the sword then you should eat that fruit first," Hiyori said as she finally made up her mind and accept the sword.

Staring at the fruit in his hand Kenshin shook his head and said, "I don't need this devil fruit, I can defeat my enemies without the help of a devil fruit,"

Whitebeard who heard this laughed and said in a mocking tone, "Don't think that you can already contend against the top powers with just your measly mastery on conqueror's haki brat."

He then stood up and released his conqueror's haki directing it towards Kenshin while Rayleigh and Gaban defended the guests so that they won't get affected by Whitebeard's haki.

Kenshin who was suddenly being attacked immediately used his own conqueror's haki as he tried to defend Whitebeard's will but he was still pushed back.

"Conqueror's haki is closely connected to your will, if you have a weak will then it doesn't matter if you know infusion because you will never be able to injure your opponent who has a much stronger will than you much less defend from their attacks."

Whitebeard then infused his fist with conqueror's haki as he punched Kenshin who also infused his arms with conqueror's haki trying to defend the attack.

*BAM!*

Kenshin was suddenly sent flying back as he crashed on the wall, his arms that were infused with conqueror's haki were now hanging down without any strength as they were completely broken from Whitebeard's attack.

"Kenshin!" Hiyori shouted as she ran towards Kenshin but was stopped by Izo.

Whitebeard stared at Kenshin who was breathing heavily and said, "Remember, Kaido is at his prime right now while I am just a washed-up old man. don't get too overconfident just because you managed to survive from 3 admiral-level opponents."

He then picked up the fruit that was on the floor and threw it towards Kenshin, "Eat the fruit, it is a paramecia type devil fruit that is more powerful than my tremor-tremor fruit."

"I hope that you will continue on getting stronger because Hiyori will be with you starting from today onwards, I want you to protect her at all times even if its costs you your life," Whitebeard said as he left the hall followed by Rayleigh and Gaban who gave him a thumbs up.
