"Damn it!"
Seeing Diamond Jozu take action and destroy dozens of Pacifistas in one fell swoop, Sentomaru couldn't help but curse under his breath.
Each Pacifista cost nearly as much as a standard Navy battleship. Losing so many at once, Sentomaru could already imagine how many reports he would have to write when he got back.
He quickly rushed to the scene where the destroyed Pacifistas lay. Skillfully wielding his large axe, he pried open their bodies to retrieve palm-sized mainboards.
These contained crucial test data from the Pacifistas; they couldn't afford any mistakes.
"Tch, is it still tough to deal with a great pirate like Diamond Jozu?"
Looking at the shattered Pacifistas and the Whitebeard Pirates retreating in the distance, Sentomaru pondered.
"But even if we can't handle those powerful ones, taking care of the small fry is no problem."
Sentomaru turned his gaze to another part of the battlefield.
"These things aren't made of ordinary steel. Even with Armament Haki, it's hard to break through them!"
"Damn it, these guys don't feel pain at all. Trading blows won't work; getting hit by their lasers means you're done for."
"Hey, these guys aren't very agile! Find a way to knock them down!"
"There are too many Navy soldiers around, no chance at all!"
During their battles with the Pacifistas, many pirates quickly discovered their weaknesses and took action.
Top-tier fighters like Diamond Jozu could easily penetrate the Pacifistas' armor, but that didn't mean the Pacifistas' defense was weak.
On the vast sea, how many warriors like Diamond Jozu could there be?
The Pacifistas' defenses were so strong that even a certain level of Armament Haki attack couldn't penetrate them.
Some pirates with bounties under 200 million berries didn't even qualify to challenge them.
(Of course, a certain Logia user with an 81 million berries bounty was an exception. After all, that guy could fight just about anyone.)
Right now, pirates not particularly skilled in Armament Haki from the New World were attacking the Pacifistas, but all they could manage was to damage the Pacifistas' outer clothing.
Imagine putting all your strength into a strike, only to find it couldn't even leave a scratch on the enemy. Just thinking about it made one feel like vomiting blood.
Meanwhile, nearly a hundred Pacifistas on the battlefield, unconcerned with what the pirates thought, mechanically executed their fixed programs. Without fear of pain or death, they formed neat formations and continuously fired laser weapons at every pirate in sight.
"I don't believe I can't cut through these tin cans!"
A pirate, driven into a frenzy, glared fiercely at the approaching Pacifistas, their steps steady.
He roared and charged at a Pacifista, his scimitar enveloped in Armament Haki as he leaped high and slashed down at the Pacifista's chest.
The blade flashed.
A vicious wound crackling with sparks appeared on the attacked Pacifista's chest. Through the wound, you could see internal components and severed circuits.
"Haha, I got it..."
Having landed a successful hit, the pirate turned to boast to his companions.
But before he could finish, in the next second, a blazing laser beam pierced his chest.
"This...!?"
In his final moments, he saw the Pacifista, which he had just slashed open, continue advancing and attacking as if unaffected.
The strike he had just delivered was the best he'd ever managed in his life, his strongest blow.
Yet, even his full-strength attack hadn't been enough to make it pause.
For decades, he had roamed the seas, his swordsmanship unmatched, only to be defeated by a machine. What a humiliation!
With that thought, the pirate unwillingly closed his eyes.
Beep, beep—
The sound of charging up, heralding death, echoed again as terrifying laser beams pierced the chests of pirate after pirate.
Under the threat of death, the pirates quickly began to collapse.
The Pacifistas, fearless of death and aided by countless Navy soldiers nearby, swiftly reaped the pirates' lives.
Like tanks, the Pacifistas continued to reduce the pirate numbers rapidly with their deadly lasers.
The tide of the battle began to turn.
"So this is the power developed by the Navy's Science Unit?"
"Dr. Vegapunk is truly amazing! Long live science!"
As Sentomaru, who was leading the Pacifista squad, fought, he observed their performance. Hearing some of the Navy soldiers' discussions, a smile appeared on his face.
Many on the seas look down on the power of technology, believing individual strength to be the strongest. But after spending time with Dr. Vegapunk, Sentomaru knew just how terrifying the power of technology could be.
"Hurry, put on Navy uniforms! These things only attack people not wearing Navy clothes!"
Soon, a comical scene unfolded on the battlefield, with many pirates scrambling for Navy uniforms.
After all, inputting every single Navy soldier's data into the Pacifistas' database was unrealistic. Moreover, such a large amount of data would significantly burden the Pacifistas' core programming.
Therefore, apart from a few high-ranking Navy officers and dangerous pirates, the Pacifistas identified friends and foes based on their clothing.
Before long, the mixed-up pirates and Navy soldiers made it hard for the Pacifistas to distinguish between them. Sentomaru had no choice but to order the Pacifistas to change their attack targets.
"I'll leave these guys to you."
Sentomaru quickly led the Pacifistas to another battlefield.
Just as he was heading there, two unexpected people appeared before him.
"Navy! We're the Shichibukai, recognized by the World Government! We're on the same side!"
Standing next to Weevil, Miss Buckin smiled at Sentomaru and the Pacifistas surrounding him.
But her smile quickly vanished, replaced by a sharp, urgent cry.
Beep, beep—
The sound of energy gathering came from the nearby Pacifistas' mouths.
Suddenly, beams filled with a deadly aura shot towards Miss Buckin and Weevil.
Blinding light flashed, and Miss Buckin, still calculating how to maximize her gains, had no time to dodge.
Zzz—
Dozens of lasers instantly pierced Miss Buckin, and the smell of burning flesh and blood filled the air.
Next to her, Weevil also had dozens of burn marks on his body but wasn't pierced through. With his terrifying physique, he withstood the attack.
"Mommy, it hurts so much! They hurt me so bad!"
The not-so-bright Weevil wailed, feeling the intense pain coursing through his body.
But when he saw Miss Buckin lying lifeless on the ground, he went completely berserk!
"Ahhh! I'm going to kill all of you!"
Realizing Miss Buckin was dead, Weevil went into a frenzy, grabbing his naginata and charging at Sentomaru and the Pacifistas.
As soon as Weevil stepped into their attack range—
Beep, beep, beep—
The sound of rapid charging was heard again, and light gathered in the Pacifistas' mouths.
The straightforward yet terrifyingly powerful lasers shot toward Weevil.
Facing the oncoming lasers, his eyes flashed red. At such a close range, he made an unbelievable move, narrowly dodging the incoming laser.
"I'll cut you all down!"
In the instant he dodged the laser, Weevil swung his naginata at the Pacifista.
The first Pacifista in his path was sliced in half from head to toe.
Eyes bloodshot, Weevil turned to look for his next target.
Facing the ferocious Weevil, the Pacifistas showed no fear.
Beep, beep, beep—
The charging sound echoed again.
