5 The Navigator

[East Blue, Mr.1 pov:]

It's been two weeks since I got called by Mr.0 who turned out to be Crocodile himself. The content of the mission I was assigned to was pretty... odd, I have no idea why He suddenly has an interest in a small island in East Blue also nicknamed the weakest of the Blues. From what I could find there wasn't anything special about this island, just some village captured by fishmen.

My mission although odd, was pretty simple, kill the fishmen and find a young girl with bright orange hair named Nami.

Just then I suddenly start seeing land, after 10 minutes or so I reach the shore, I tie my boat to a tree and start making my way to the village, it isn't a big island so it didn't take long. Once i arrived in Cocoyasi village a figure made itself known, from the looks of it he seems to be the sheriff of this town. After looking at me he said.

"Hey you, I can probably guess why you're here, you somehow found out a pirate group with a big bounty resides in this town and came to kill them, boy let me warn you, you will die.

They are fishmen, each one has the power of 10 men, turn away before it's to late."

"Let me worry about that" and I walk right past him. As I start to make my way further I suddenly see it, a tall building with pools surrounding it, I can see all sorts of fishmen talking and laughing. As soon as they noticed me one of them starts walking towards me.

"yo, who are you? Do you wanna die?"

I ignore him, morph my arm into a blade and lunge at him, cutting his head off.

Silence, everyone stops talking and they all look in my direction, and so the massacre began.

[A few hours later, Nami pov:]

I just arrived on my home island after robbing yet another cruise ship. [Hmm... I recently heard about some new casinos opening here in East Blue, maybe I should give it a go, new casinos tend to lack security. Maybe this is my chance to aquire the money needed to free the town.]

Anyway something weird is happening, the once hollow and empty streets are bustling with people. Some people are crying others are laughing, I wonder what happened, aren't they scared of Arlong. Then I see Genzo running full speed towards me.

"Nami! You won't belive what happened, Arlong and his crew are dead! You don't have to pretend anymore, we know that you became a member of Arlongs pirates in order to protect us."

Even though I'm shocked they knew all along, I start running as fast as I can towards Arlong Park. Once there I immediately noticed the pungent smell of blood, and i witnessed a scene that not even in my wildest dreams could I imagine. A pile of bodies, stacked upon each other, more specifically the bodies of my tormentors. Then as if hit by a sudden realization I see a figure sitting on a chair, under an umbrella and sipping on a glass of wine.

He is a tanned man with long, thin limbs and fingers. He is tall and muscular with a shaved head. His most striking feature is probably the black unibrow, right over his round eyes. He has big lips and the archaic Japanese symbol of the number "1" tattooed on his torso.

"Did you do this?"

[Mr.1 pov:]

So this is the one called Nami, she fits the description perfectly. I wonder what's so special about her to catch the eye of a Warlord.

"Yes, although that wasn't my main goal. My Boss sent me here in order to get a hold of you, he has a business proposition for you."

I can see how she finches at that, flexing her body probably in order to run from here if things go south.

"For some reason that even I am not aware of, he gained a interest in your navigator and cartography skills.

He would like for you to come and work for him. Before you make any decisions you must know that we are also pirates, and our headquarters are located in Arabasta, Paradise."

"What? Do you think I would become a pirate right after I managed to escape from under one's rule?"

"He warned me that you would say something like that, so in exchange he will make sure that something like this will never happen again to the people of this island."

"Also once you join us there will be plenty opportunities to aquire money, from what I understand you are quite a greedy person."

[Nami pov:]

HOW!? How does he know about my cartography skill, aside from Arlong and the town's people no one should be aware of it.

Should I accept? I mean on one hand I can ensure the safety of Nojiko and others, I can also earn more money... but they are still pirates. After considering all my options I finally decided....

"I agree, on one condition. I am free to leave whenever I want."

"Sure but after you see how big this world truly is, I doubt you will do that. I will leave this evening so go say goodbye to whoever you hold dear in this town and let's go."

[Crocodile pov:]

I just got a phone call from Mr.1 regarding the situation of Cocoyasi village, it seems that the navigator problem is resolved. Nami agreed to join my crew, I wonder what's gonna be her reaction when she realizes that she joined a Schibukais pirate crew.

Apparently a octopus looking fishmen managed to escape along with a giant sea cow. He also said the assassination of captain Nezumi was a success.

Yo, hope you like the story so far and if you do help me out with some power stones.

To be honest, Suna Suna no Mi makes it quite hard for me to come up with an idea about a potential Devil Fruit Awakening. Why? Because anything awakening related has already been exhibited by Sir Crocodile thus far. You see, we have seen him turn things into sand. He has already used his power to perform techniques that turn his surroundings to sand, he has already created techniques that remind us of sandstorms… He has even used the standard technique of turning his arm into sand to extend it, mimicking the powers of Gomu Gomu no Mi. Crocodile has done it all. Or has he not?
