Chapter 47: The New Era – Marine Monster, Pegasus Hina
Hina opened her left hand, and the energy net from her new gloves dissipated. Shimotsuki Kozaburo observed her, noting the Armament Haki marks left on her arm. The old man's mouth twitched slightly, his gaze shifting to Chiba with a look of astonishment.
"Even with everything laid out in front of me," Kozaburo admitted, "if I tried forging it myself, I'd never succeed. Talented people emerge with each new generation, and this time, the new has truly surpassed the old."
Chiba chuckled and turned to Hina. "Hina, these gloves should be able to summon the Pegasus as your mount. Try channeling more energy into them."
Nodding, Hina focused her qi, and the Pegasus from the God Prison Gauntlet solidified into a radiant, sky-blue energy body. She mounted it, and with a powerful beat of its wings, the Pegasus soared into the sky at incredible speed.
Watching her disappear into the distance, Kozaburo exhaled in awe. "Master Chiba, you have redefined what I thought was possible with forging. In a thousand years, no one will surpass you."
Chiba simply smiled, unaffected by the praise. He had learned forging only to craft weapons for himself, and now that Marine's treasury of materials was nearly depleted, forging a supreme sword would require either fate or luck.
With Peacock and Hina now wielding supreme weapons, their strength had reached quasi-Admiral level. His team had taken a significant leap in power, and the news of his supreme weapon-crafting ability was sure to reach the World Government soon. They'd likely send someone soon, so Chiba knew time was running out. He needed to gather more resources quickly—information on Marine techniques, swordsmanship, medical knowledge, Devil Fruit abilities, and especially Conqueror's Haki.
Most importantly, he needed precious medicinal ingredients for the Divine Elephant Suppressing Prison Strength he was cultivating. His path would inevitably pit him against the World Government and the Celestial Dragons, and the resources he'd need to advance would only increase.
It was time to push Sengoku a little harder.
After helping Shimotsuki Kozaburo settle in, Chiba compiled a lengthy list of required resources and made his way to Sengoku's office.
Sengoku's eyebrows shot up as he scanned the list. "Do you have any idea what these materials cost? Tens of billions of Berries, at least. Are you planning to empty the Marine treasury?"
Chiba grinned. "Grandpa Sengoku, this is nothing compared to the Heavenly Tribute Marine collects annually for the Celestial Dragons. Just consider it a small investment."
Sengoku's face twitched as he muttered, "You have some nerve saying that out loud. Don't repeat this kind of talk in public."
He sighed, then relented. "Alright, I'll work on gathering what I can. But there's a condition—you make me a weapon of supreme quality too."
Chiba's grin widened. "Sure thing, Grandpa Sengoku. But you'll have to supply the materials yourself."
Sengoku's face darkened. "You stingy brat… fine, I'll cover the materials."
With a smirk, Chiba left the office, happily planning another list to prepare Sengoku's weapon.
On his way back to the research room, he heard a familiar voice echoing from above.
"Hina, you old hag, how dare you treat me like this? I'll never forgive you!"
"And Chiba, you miserable snake! You made a weapon specifically to deal with me? I'll get you for this!"
Looking up, Chiba saw Hina soaring through the sky on her Pegasus, trailing a sky-blue net that held a furious Peacock, tightly bound.
Before, when Hina was without the God Prison, Peacock would constantly harass her, forcing Hina to be on guard. But now, with the power of her new gloves, Hina had tied Peacock up and was flying laps around Marineford, relishing the payback.
Chiba sighed. He appreciated the strength of his team, but sometimes, dealing with them could be a headache.
In the distance, a group of reporters caught sight of the scene. Cameras clicked as they captured the moment, soon splashing the photos across newspapers.
The headline read: New Era, Marine Monsters – Pegasus Hina Defeats the Snake Peacock.
The image of Hina and her Pegasus mount went viral, and soon the name "Pegasus Hina" spread across the seas.
After completing her laps, Hina dropped the tied-up Peacock in front of Chiba's lab, sending a clear message to other women who might have their sights set on him.
If anyone dared to pursue Chiba, this was the fate they'd face.
