Chapter 43: Bounties Don't Matter

The crew arrived at the part of the island where Cricket's house was only for him to not be home. "Hello? Oh, nobody's home. I'm coming in!!" Luffy said as he walked into the house even though nobody was home. The crew was about to yell at Luffy because he wasn't supposed to just walk into someone's house but realized it was useless. This guy would never learn.

Nami walked into the house and picked up a book. "Noland the Liar." She said as she looked at it. "Oh, that book. Reminds me of my childhood." Sanji said as he looked over Nami's shoulder. "You know it? But it says it's from the North Blue?" Sanji just nodded. "Did I never tell you guys? I'm from the North Blue."

"What? I thought you were from the East Blue?" Usopp asked Sanji. Who replied. "I was raised in the East Blue but I'm from the North Blue. But whatever, this book is really famous in the North Blue." Sanji said as he started talking about the book. He and Nami read the book out loud to the crew.

After they finished the story a man jumped out of the water and landed in a fighting pose. "Just who the hell are you?!" He called out and Kai looked out at him from inside the house. "Ah. We just broke into your house. Sorry." Before he continued to laze around in the man's house. The man's face planted when he heard this.

"What do you mean broke into my house?! And why are you so casual about it?!" The man yelled at Kai who just pretended not to hear him and kept doing whatever he wanted. The man ran towards everyone with the intention to fight before he fell over and fainted.

Chopper ran over to diagnose him and found out he had 'the bends' from diving improperly. The crew looked after the man and tended to him as he was sick before the man woke up. He told his story about being Noland's ancestor and how he was looking for the treasure of the city of gold. He told everyone about the knock up stream and Kai hummed.

He whispered to Robin who was right beside him. "Any guesses?" Robin thought about it for a moment. She mumbled. "... It's impossible for an island to just disappear, something must have happened, then the knock up streams… Unless, no way, that can't be, it would take way to much force to lift an island." Kai smiled. She was gonna get it right this time. "So?" He asked again. "It has to be the knock up stream, if this is real that is. The knock up stream lifted this island into the sky, making the city of gold disappear with it."

When Robin said this everyone froze and turned to her. Cricket had his jaw drop to the floor. He never thought about that! It wasn't on the sea floor but in the sky! No wonder nobody found it! Kai just laughed. "Wahahaha! Exactly! The city of gold is in the sky!" He exclaimed to everyone.

Cricket asked him. "How do you know?" Kai tilted his head like he was an idiot for asking that. "Because I've been there before. How do you guys think this young master got so rich?" He said in a boastful way. Nami had a tick mark appear on her forehead as she punched Kai only for her fist to go through him as he exploded into air. "If you knew the whole fucking time then what have we been doing on this island?!!!" Kai laughed. "I didn't wanna spoil it, everyone hates spoilers."

The rest of the crew nodded and Nami almost snapped before she started to go to her happy place. "The city of gold is real. The city of gold is real." She said over and over again. Kai just ignored the rest of the people as he lit a cigarette for himself and started smoking as they got all the information about everything happening which he already knew.

In the end they got help from Cricket and his friends to fix up the Merry and they decided to stay the night and party. Cricket told a story about the gold being in the skull's right eye and Kai pulled out a map of Jaya and put it in front of the crew. "Any guesses?" He asked. "Just tell us! There is money on the line!" Nami yelled out before Luffy stopped her. "No! I wanna figure it out!" Nami punched him in the head. "As if you ever could!"

By this point Robin had already looked at the map. "I see." She said without giving any more hints. "So fast?!" Usopp called out as he looked over at the map only to not understand anything.

"Nishishi!/Wahahaha!" The devilish duo laughed at the crew struggling to figure it out before eventually Zoro of all people seemed to have an idea. "So the island in the sky completes the skull and the city is in the right eye." He nodded as he guessed correctly. Kai froze. "We need a doctor! Zoro read a map right! He didn't get lost!" Chopper started crying. "Somebody, please, get a doctor!" Usopp said. "You're the doctor!"

Chopper froze. "You're right! Zoro, what's wrong with you? Did you hit your head?" Zoro's eyebrow twitched and he yelled out. "I'm not bad at directions!" Nami gasped. "Oh no. He's become delusional!" Robin nodded sadly. "Seems like we need to put him down."

Sanji added in with a smile. "I volunteer! I get to kill Zoro and help out Nami-swan and Robin-chan! Today is the best day ever!" As he went to attack Zoro who had already fallen asleep somehow.

Zoro woke up and looked around. "Morning already?" Everyone's face palmed and Luffy laughed. "Shishishi! I don't really get it but we just need to find the skull right?" Kai just looked at everything going on and chuckled.

Eventually Cricket told them that they needed a south bird to get to the knock up stream, which caused Kai to wonder why the government didn't just get a bunch of these birds to use as compasses. I mean then you wouldn't need a log pose and could just go to any island you want. You would have to be an idiot not to at least keep one around… Anyway!

The crew went into the forest and Kai stayed behind confusing Cricket. "Aren't you gonna go with them?" He asked and Kai said. "Am I supposed to do everything for them?" This caused Cricket to think for a second and nod. He didn't have to do anything for these guys. Let alone everything.

Kai changed the topic. He pointed out the window and said. "Anyway, want a hand with those clowns?" He asked as Bellamy and his crew docked on the shore. "Sure, but are you sure that's okay? They do look pretty strong after all." Cricket asked Kai in concern.

"Wahahaha! Good one!" Kai said as he laughed at Cricket's joke. Except, it wasn't a joke and Cricket was genuinely concerned. Anyway, Bellamy and his whole crew strolled up to the house casually acting like they owned the place. Kai watched as a few of the crew members walked in the direction of a certain ship.

Kai walked out of the house and lit a cigarette. "Don't touch Merry." He said in a cold voice causing a chill to run down the spines of the people who were walking towards Merry. Bellamy laughed like a fool. "Hahahha-hahaha! What are you going to do about it, marine? I looked you up and you're just a commander! Do you think you can compete with us?" He turned back towards his crew and ordered them. "Burn the ship to the ground! I don't want our prey to leave the island!" His crew started laughing and took a step towards Merry before they all stopped simultaneously. Falling to the ground.

*thud* *thud* *thud* *thud* *thud* *thud* The sounds of bodies hitting the floor resounded from behind Bellamy. When he finally turned around he saw the 6 members of his crew he ordered to burn the ship lying on the ground. All of them were missing their heads. "I told you not to touch Merry." Kai said as he exhaled a puff of smoke into the air.

The rest of Bellamy's crew froze and Kai took a step forward causing everyone including Bellamy to take a step backwards. Kai continued walking towards Bellamy. "Here's a piece of advice, dipshit. Your position or bounty or whatever means nothing. People don't get bounties because they are strong, they get them because they commit crimes. A 6 year old kid who can barely hold a sword is capable of murder, that doesn't mean he's strong. Your boss doesn't even have a bounty right now and he's still one of the stronger people in the new world. What makes you think you're so special?"

By the time Kai had finished his little rant he was face to face with Bellamy. He didn't even unsheathe his sword or anything, just his demeanor and actions were enough to scare these idiots. Kai looked Bellamy in the eye and said. "Besides, even if bounties did mean shit…" He pulled out two pieces of paper and dropped them before saying. "That just makes you an even bigger dumbass." Kai said as he flicked his cigarettes lighting the two pieces of paper he dropped before turning around and walking away. Leaving everyone there shocked.

Bellamy looked back down at the two pieces of paper on fire and re-read them. 'Straw Hat' Luffy. Wanted dead or alive. $100,000,000. 'Pirate Hunter' Zoro. Wanted dead or alive. $60,000,000. He started to shake in fear. He wasn't even sure what he was scared of at this point. Kai, the two pirates with bounties higher than his, or his own boss who's name he tried to use to threaten Kai to no avail. All three of these things had the chance to bring his life to an end soon. He got up and decided to leave the gold alone. He would have to find a way to appease Doflamingo later but for now he was much more afraid of the three people on this island who might kill him.

Kai walked back into the house and said. "What a pussy." Before he asked. "May I have some tea?" The three in the house were too stunned to answer. "What just happened?" One of them asked but the other two were just as stunned and didn't know how to answer. In the end they just made Kai tea and eventually forgot about the incident thinking they must have been seeing things.
