"Senior Mado, have you heard? Recently, in District 11, there seems to be a guy specifically hunting ghouls. Everyone suspects it might be a retired investigator from our ranks."
"Plus, to precisely locate and hunt down so many ghouls, that senior must have been at least a First-Class Investigator before resigning, right?"
"No, it could even be possible they were a Special-Class Investigator!"
Amon, dressed in a suit with a neatly trimmed buzzcut, spoke with a hint of sighing admiration.
Facing him was a man with a full head of white hair, somewhat hunched over, giving off a sickly vibe.
"First-Class Amon, are you not aware that when an investigator decides to leave, their 'Quinque' are reclaimed by the CCG?" he questioned.
"Or do you think a human without a 'Quinque' as a weapon could easily kill that many ghouls?"
"I've seen the bodies of those ghouls and the scenes myself; almost all were killed in one hit. Those ghouls had no time to react before they were killed."
Amon paused, "What do you mean, Senior Mado?"
Mado revealed an enigmatic, sinister smile, "It's not just us investigators who can hunt ghouls. Sometimes, those monsters also slaughter each other just like humans."
"Ghouls killing each other? But why? If it's to devour each other, why leave the bodies of the slain ghouls behind, without a second glance?"
Mado looked out the window with a distant tone, "Who knows such things? After all, the thought processes of those monsters aren't like that of normal humans. Maybe it's just a preference for 'killing their own kind', or fighting for territory. Who cares?"
"That makes sense. Senior Mado, you truly are one of the most respected First-Class Investigators at the CCG. I have learned a lot."
"First-Class Amon."
"Yes, Senior Mado?"
"Has anyone ever told you that your flattery needs work?"
"Uh..."
"Are you finished eating? If so, let's go."
"Ah? Oh, wait for me, Senior Mado. Are we still going to District 20 today?"
"No, we're heading to District 11."
"District 11? Just the two of us?"
"First-Class Amon, if you're scared, you can head back first or request a partner swap."
"Scared? Not at all, I'm just a bit surprised."
"As a rookie, speak less, observe more – that's how you'll survive longer."
"Yes, Senior!"
Unbeknownst to Abel at this time, several speculations already surrounded his ghoul hunting. Some believed he was a CCG investigator, not wanting to disclose his identity for fear of breaking discipline.
Others considered the possibility that he was a ghoul himself, hunting his kind for a particular reason.
No one would consider looking in other directions because only official ghoul investigators were capable of hunting ghouls – there was no such thing as civilian ghoul hunters.
Yet the truth often exceeds people's imaginations and understanding.
Without any awareness, the one securely tracked by 'Observation Haki' walked into a lively bar.
Here, the number of attractive men and women was exceptionally high, with everyone dancing wildly to the thumping music, lost in the hormone-heavy atmosphere.
However, if one observed closely, they would notice a portion of the crowd's eyes occasionally flashing a terrifying red, their mouths unwittingly drooling.
Whenever this happened, the bartender and the bunny girls weaving through the crowd would give a warning glance their way. They would then retract their imposing demeanor, replace it with charming smiles, and begin to dance passionately with their partners as if trying to alleviate their own hunger. Of course, there were those who couldn't wait and would pull someone of the opposite sex into the restroom. Bystanders, unaware of the true situation, would look on with ambiguous, envious expressions. Yet nobody noticed that those who were led away never returned to the dance floor.
"It seems this is the place."
After Abel walked in, he quietly locked the main door and pulled out a prepared chain to seal it from the inside.
"Hey, what are you doing?!"
The disturbance caught the attention of two blonde individuals, who cursed as they approached.
Having secured the door, Abel sighed, turned around, and said, "If you had pretended not to see, you could have lived another minute. But you ghouls really don't cherish your own lives."
Upon hearing the word 'ghouls', the two blondes realized the danger and attempted to release their Kagune to kill this human who had thwarted their feast. They were no longer concerned with preserving the illusion of the 'feasting party'.
But as soon as the thought crossed their minds, they found their bodies unresponsive. Then came a dizzying 360-degree turn of their perspectives, seeing their beheaded corpses fall.
"Killed? But when?"
This was their last thought before plunging into endless darkness.
Abel stepped over the blondes' bodies, his hand clutching an ice blade imbued with Armament Haki. Because the fight ended in an instant, the rest of the crowd was still lost in the thumping music, oblivious to the incident at the entrance.
It wasn't until Abel kicked the DJ off the stage, turned off the music, and picked up the screeching microphone that the revellers disorientedly looked up, covering their ears to find the source.
The unfortunate DJ, a human unwittingly caught in this, lay aside.
"Hey, hey, hey, can you hear me?"
"Sorry to spoil everyone's fun, but I must announce some bad news; tonight's party is over."
"I need all humans to crouch with their heads and gather by the wall to my left, and I'd appreciate it if all ghoul friends would stand to my right."
"And one more thing, don't even think about escaping; you're all surrounded by me."
"That's all."
As Abel put down the microphone, most people in the dance floor were still unresponsive, dismissing him as a madman, with no one following his instructions.
Instead, it was the bartenders and waitstaff who began to take action.
"Shit! Who is this guy, crazy, right?"
"Exactly, I was just getting into it."
"Mina, what's wrong with your eyes? Did you stay up too late? Why are they so red—Ah!"
Mina lunged at her boyfriend next to her, and chaos erupted as she began to gruesomely feast on him!
This acted as a signal for the other ghouls to reveal their grotesque true forms. In an instant, the bar was transformed into a hellish battleground.
