Silence overtook the room. The tension could be seen. They kept staring at eachother. Tears began to well up in Rey's eyes.
"What are they talking about?" Hana asked, looking at Reimei with a confused expression. Reimei looked back at her. She was shocked... His face actually held seriousness and not the mischievous glint it usually had. 'Can he be serious?' she asked herself. She didn't know Reimei could take anything serious. Back on Risky Red Island he said he defeated the vice-captian of the gorilla pirates with no visible wound and then immediately began to tease her. His face regained some of his usual expression.
"Let's go eat something!" he said with a forced smile on his face. He got up from the bed and dragged me off. Jun quickly got up and followed them out of the room. He was really uncomfortable. They stared at eachother for a good minute before they left. What is happening?
"What's up with them?" Hana asked Reimei, while looking at him with a pointed look. She would get answers from him! He clearly knew what was happening.
"Let's get somewhere more private or you can't wait to speak with me, the man of your dreams?" Reimei asked with a teasing smile. Hana began blushing heavily. She Suddenly hit him in the groin with a tick mark on her head.
"You're not the man of my dreams, you're a mean, insensitive and an overall annoying guy!" she yelled while Reimei was holding his jewels in pain. Even Jun recoiled from the hit although he wasn't even next to them.
"Troublesome woman!" Reimei yelled as he still held his crotch. He just made a joke! Why did he get hit! Hana gained another tick mark and got ready to hit him again.
"Let's stop for now!" Jun said as he nervously got in the way of Hana's punch. She stopped right before it made contact with Jun's face. He was really scared. For a moment it seemed like it wouldn't stop but thankfully she stopped at the right time and recollected herself.
"Reimei, tell us about what was happening!" Hana demanded with a curious expression. They got into a dark alley. Reimei still had a smile on his face but inside his mind was racing. Should he tell them, should he make up a lie? He didn't know what to do! Hmmm... They're his crewmates, they'll sail the seas together! They have the right to know!
"It is about me and Sora's past." Reimei said, his smile dissapering and getting replaced by a serious expression.
"What about your past?" Jun asked while he got up on a barrel and put his hand on his jaw.
"Sora and I met a long time ago, I don't exactly remember when. We were slaves, both sold to the celestial drago probably due to the fact that we both had devil fruits. Our families are both from Wano. Mine got intercepted by a celestial dragon that killed my parents and took me into slavery. I don't know about his... Due to us being strong, we both got drafted into the 'Arena'. It is a really dreadful place. Slave fight eachother for promised freedom they'll never get. I was pitched against Sora in a duel one day. We had a close match but in the end he won. I guessed he would have killed me but.... but in the last moments instead of cutting my neck, he made a proposition. 'Do you want to shake the world upside down with me?'. I was perplexed but I accepted nonetheless. I got heavily beaten and tortured for my loss but I survived. Several years later, I escaped my prison and broke out of my shackles. I travelled the first half of the grandline challenging swordsmen to duels. At first I was driven by revenge and anger. But through my travels I realised.... I have no enemies, my anger was misplaced. I already got my freedom and I am already strong enough to ensure it. If I would have gone after revenge I would have to be ready to die myself, I would have to dig two graves... 2 years into my travels I returned to Sabaody Archipelago where I remet with Sora and started our adventure. I don't wish to get revenge anymore, I am now guided by the same principle as our Captain. Freeing people that couldn't free themselves, just like he did 6 years ago in the prisons of the Celestial Dragons. He gave me a reason to live. That's why I owe my life to him and I am helping him in his adventures." Reimei explained with tears begging to form in his eyes. Hana had began crying long before him. Jun was uncaracteristcly completely stone faced and looking down. Hana quickly got next to Reimei and hugged him. It was really weird... Just 5 minutes ago they were fighting eachother.
"I didn't kno... know you had such a... a sad life... I'm sorry!" she exclaimed while sniffling and putting her head in his chest. Reimei regained his smile and put a hand on her head, patting her
"No worries, you shouldn't treat me differently!" Reimei said with the usual smile on his face.
"So I'm guessing that Rey's father was also taken by the celestial dragons and Sora killed him in the arena..." Jun said interrupting their moment. Hana didn't move but Reimei looked at Jun.
"It's kill or be killed in most cases... If Rey's father truly believed that if he won, he will get home back to his child, he would have tried to go for the kill. I was spared because I admitted my loss. This world is dark..." Reimei said.
