A sudden shadow loomed over the waters, followed by a slithering sound that sent shivers down Imai's spine. From the sea emerged a massive green snake, its shimmering scales catching the sunlight as it stared at the two travelers.
But it wasn't just the creature's size that caught Imai's attention. The snake's long, flowing green hair and piercing eyes were distinctly human-like. As her gaze lowered, her observation was confirmed—the figure was not a mere serpent.
Imai smirked, crossing her arms. "You're not a real snake, are you? Let me guess… you're part of the Kuja Pirates?"
The snake-woman grinned, her sharp teeth glinting. "That's right. And Big Sis is about to arrive."
As if on cue, a ship loomed into view, cutting through the waves with an air of authority. Its massive figurehead boasted twin dragon heads, and at the heart of the vessel stood a grand pink mansion, opulent and intimidating. The Kuja Pirates' flag flew proudly, its bold letters spelling out their name.
Imai's grin widened. "Well, well, the Kuja Pirates. This should be interesting."
Nico leaned in, her curiosity piqued. "Kuja Pirates?"
"An all-woman crew led by Boa Hancock, the Empress of the Kuja tribe," Imai explained. "She's one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea. And if the stories are true, she's as powerful as she is beautiful."
Nico tilted her head. "So… why are they here?"
Before Imai could respond, the snake-woman spoke. "My name is Boa Sandersonia. Big Sis has ordered us to bring you aboard for questioning. She prefers a conversation over a fight—for now."
"Very diplomatic," Imai said with a chuckle. "Alright, we'll come aboard. But first, what's your name?"
"Boa Sandersonia," the snake-woman repeated, her grin unchanging.
With a quick nod from Sandersonia, a plank was placed between their ships, creating a bridge.
As they stepped aboard the Kuja ship, Nico couldn't hide her awe. "An entire mansion… on a ship? That's certainly extravagant."
"It's Boa Hancock," Imai said with a laugh. "She's known for her beauty and… let's say, her confidence. Be prepared to be dazzled—and judged."
They were led through the grand ship, its interior adorned with intricate carvings, plush seating, and walls decorated with paintings of flowers and serpents. At the center of it all was a throne room.
Sitting regally on an ornate throne was Boa Hancock herself. She was as breathtaking as the rumors claimed, with flowing black hair, piercing eyes, and an aura that exuded power and elegance.
"It's an honor to meet the Empress of the Kuja Tribe and a Warlord of the Sea," Imai said, bowing slightly with a sweet smile.
Hancock's gaze sharpened as she studied Imai. A slight shiver ran through her voice as she replied, "You… I know who you are."
Imai's grin widened. "Ah, the great Boa Hancock knows me? I'm flattered." Her red eyes sparkled mischievously, and she leaned forward, her voice dropping to a playful lilt. "To be recognized by the most beautiful woman in the world… my heart races."
The Kuja warriors surrounding them murmured approvingly, their smiles showing they were pleased by the flattery. Nico, on the other hand, rolled her eyes, easily seeing through Imai's antics.
Hancock, too, saw through the act, but something about Imai's presence unnerved her. Those dark red eyes, the infamous two-sword style, and the whispered tales of her battles—defeating not one but two Admirals simultaneously—made Boa Hancock wary.
"Enough flattery," Hancock said, her tone sharp. "Why are you here?"
"We were merely following the sea's guidance after completing an adventure," Imai said casually. "Call it luck—or fate—that we crossed paths with you."
Hancock studied her for a moment before giving a subtle nod to her crew. "Tie our ships together. We'll travel as one for now."
Imai raised an eyebrow. "And why's that?"
Hancock's lips curved into a faint smirk. "Who knows? Perhaps it's time for women of the sea to form alliances. Surely you see the benefit?"
'In other words, you want to use me for my strength,' Imai thought, her grin returning. 'Fine by me. I need the Marines to notice anyway.'
"Nico," Imai said, glancing at her companion. "What do you think? Should we stick with them for a bit?"
"As long as I get to learn about the Kuja Tribe's history, I'm fine with it," Nico replied.
Imai turned to Hancock. "You heard her. Let's make this partnership worthwhile. Share a bit about your past, and I'm sure we'll get along just fine."
Hancock hesitated but finally relented. "Very well. But I have a request of my own."
Imai tilted her head. "Oh? What is it?"
"Spar with me," Hancock said, her voice steady.
Imai blinked, then smirked. "Conditions?"
"No weapons, no Haki, no Devil Fruit abilities. Pure hand-to-hand combat. Skill against skill."
The room grew tense. Sandersonia and her sister Marigold stepped forward. "Big Sis, let us test her first!"
Hancock held up a hand, silencing them. "No. Even the two of you together wouldn't stand a chance against her."
"You praise me too highly," Imai said, though her smile showed she wasn't entirely modest.
Hancock leaned forward, her gaze unyielding. "I wonder… who is the true Empress here, you or me? Either way, it doesn't matter, does it… Fifth Emperor?"
A spark of excitement danced in Imai's eyes. "Well then, Empress, let's see if your reputation matches your ambition."
