Chapter 119: The King of Killers
"Huh? You want Charlotte's contact information? What do you want him for?"
When Shakky heard that Feld was asking for Charlotte's contact information, she couldn't help but question his intentions.
"Hahaha! I think I accidentally offended him and want to apologize," Feld replied nonchalantly.
"Offended? How exactly did you offend him?"
From Shakky's perspective, Feld and Charlotte hardly crossed paths, so the claim piqued her curiosity.
"It's nothing significant! One of my men acted without orders and offended Charlotte. I just want to apologize. I called to ask for Charlotte's number."
Feld avoided elaborating further, treating the matter with indifference.
"Alright then! One condition: 50 million Baileys," Shakky said, revealing her knack for capitalizing on opportunities.
"Deal!"
For the King of Loan Sharks, 50 million Baileys was a drop in the bucket. He agreed without hesitation, valuing time and profit above bargaining.
"Good. I'll send you Charlotte's contact information right now!"
Though Shakky felt she could have demanded more, she masked her regret with enthusiasm.
---
While Feld worked through Shakky to secure Charlotte's number, not everyone in the dark world was as practical or cautious.
---
"What did you say?! Charlotte, captain of the Rocks Pirates' 8th Division, destroyed one of our key material-producing nations?!"
Dorag Pieck, the King of Killers, roared into the Den Den Mushi, his fury palpable.
"Yes, boss! The base in the Country of Endless War was completely destroyed by Charlotte, and all our raw materials are gone! Everyone's dead!"
The subordinate's voice over the line was filled with dread, further enraging Pieck.
"Are you certain it was Charlotte?"
"Absolutely! Who else has the strength of a Great Swordsman and the audacity to attack such a place?"
Upon receiving confirmation, Pieck slammed the Den Den Mushi onto the table, his face twisted with rage.
---
Bang!
"No! I have to retaliate. If I don't, my title as the King of Killers will become a laughingstock!"
Pieck smashed his fist into the table, causing its contents to rattle and fall.
Seething, he grabbed another Den Den Mushi and barked into it.
"Listen up! Issue a bounty through the dark world. I'm offering 2 billion Baileys for the head of Charlotte, captain of the Rocks Pirates' 8th Division—dead or alive!"
Pieck's order sent shockwaves throughout the dark world.
---
The bounty announcement caused an uproar among the other dark overlords.
"What is Pieck thinking? Does he have a death wish? He knows this will provoke the wrath of the New World's overlord, Rocks!"
Du Feld was visibly agitated when he read the news. The sheer recklessness of Pieck's actions baffled him.
Stussy, the Queen of Happy Street, smirked as she reviewed the report.
"How intriguing! What could Charlotte have done to drive Pieck to such madness?" she wondered aloud, instructing her subordinates to investigate.
Morgans, Giberson, and Umit were equally stunned, though their reactions were tempered by caution. Pieck's audacity would undoubtedly stir chaos in the already volatile New World.
---
Unbeknownst to Charlotte, chaos brewed around him. Meanwhile, he was fully focused on training Barrett.
---
After boarding the ship, Barrett had been awestruck by Charlotte's strength. His admiration quickly turned into an obsession with training.
Barrett spent hours in the training room, pushing himself relentlessly with barbells, dumbbells, and other equipment. Despite his young age and underdeveloped physique, his tenacity allowed him to train for hours on end before exhaustion forced him to stop.
"This kid is a monster," Charlotte often remarked to Paul, who couldn't help but roll his eyes at the irony of Charlotte—a monster himself—calling someone else the same.
Though impressed, Charlotte couldn't let Barrett train aimlessly. He introduced the boy to systematic training methods, teaching him techniques like the Navy's Six Styles.
The young Barrett devoured this knowledge with enthusiasm.
Charlotte occasionally found himself contemplating Barrett's future.
He toyed with the idea of giving Barrett a Devil Fruit. Among the eight fruits in his possession, Charlotte considered which would suit him best.
"The Fusion-Fusion Fruit is solid, but would an animal-type fruit amplify his monstrous physique even more?"
Charlotte mentally reviewed the mythical Zoan fruits he knew about.
Fish-Fish Fruit (Azure Dragon Form): Currently in Big Mom's possession. Difficult to acquire.
Yamata-no-Orochi Fruit: Possibly already eaten by Kurozumi Orochi.
Phoenix Fruit: Its whereabouts were unknown.
Oguchi-no-Makami Fruit (Great Wolf Spirit): Likely in Wano Country.
Human-Human Fruit (Mythical Beast Form): Also likely in Wano.
Vampire Fruit: Rumored to be sealed in an ancient town.
Charlotte stroked his chin thoughtfully.
"Most of these mythical fruits are tied to Wano Country. Looks like I'll need to pay Wano a visit eventually."
Lost in thought, Charlotte murmured, "Barrett's fruit will ultimately depend on him. Either way, the Fusion-Fusion Fruit isn't bad—he proved its worth in the original timeline."
---
While Charlotte pondered Barrett's future, the boy continued training with unwavering focus. Each punch, kick, and motion radiated raw determination.
Watching him, Charlotte couldn't help but sigh.
"Kid's a genius, no doubt. But this world isn't kind to geniuses—it chews them up and spits them out. I'll make sure that doesn't happen to him."
As his thoughts turned to his own future, Charlotte murmured under his breath, "Valley of the Gods... hurry up and come."
