Chapter 117: Eight Devil Fruits

Chapter 117: Eight Devil Fruits

No matter how jealous Tang En was of Charlotte, he could only keep his emotions buried deep within his heart, not daring to let them show.

"Mr. Charlotte! Thank you for your contribution to the kingdom!"

Tang En walked up to Charlotte and gave him a respectful, noble salute.

"No need for thanks. You've already paid the price. Now that the kingdoms have been destroyed and the kings and nobles captured, when will I receive my payment?"

Charlotte smiled at Tang En as he spoke. His mood was exceptionally good after this profitable trip.

The wealth he had seized in Gold Baileys alone amounted to nearly three billion. Coupled with the three Devil Fruits he had confiscated and the five promised by the king, Charlotte was now in possession of a total of eight Devil Fruits.

Thinking about this, Charlotte couldn't help but grin from ear to ear.

"No problem! Please follow me to the palace. The king has prepared the Devil Fruits for you," Tang En said, bowing slightly.

"Alright! Let's not delay any further!"

Charlotte grabbed Tang En by the arm and led him out of the palace towards the Kingdom of Yaz.

---

At the main hall of the Yazd Palace, an argument was brewing.

"Your Majesty! You cannot hand them over! These Devil Fruits are the last trump cards of the Kingdom of Yaz! How can we give them to a pirate?" a white-haired minister exclaimed passionately.

The young king, seated on his ornate throne, remained silent, his expression unreadable as the ministers argued among themselves.

The room fell into a hush as a guard entered the hall.

"Your Majesty! General Tang En has arrived with the Blood Swordsman Charlotte!"

The news silenced the room completely. The ministers, who had been arguing loudly moments before, immediately fell quiet, fear etched on their faces.

"Clear the hall," the king ordered in a calm voice.

The guards swiftly ushered the ministers to the sides, leaving a clear path.

Moments later, two figures strode into the hall.

"Greetings to His Majesty the King!" Tang En bowed deeply, but Charlotte made no move to follow suit.

The pirate's disdain was evident in every step he took. His complete disregard for royal decorum infuriated the ministers.

"Pirate! How dare you not kneel before the king?" a white-haired minister shouted, pointing at Charlotte.

Charlotte turned his sharp gaze on the minister, and the man instantly turned pale, trembling as if he'd been struck.

"There is no one in this world worthy of my kneeling," Charlotte said, his voice calm but laced with menace. "Not even Rocks. Do you think a little king deserves my respect?"

The ministers bristled with indignation, their faces red with anger.

Swish!

Before anyone could react, the glint of Charlotte's Seven-Star Sword flashed through the air.

Those who had dared to point fingers at him collapsed to the ground, their lives snuffed out in an instant.

The hall filled with the sound of sharp gasps.

"I hate being pointed at," Charlotte said coldly, his sword dripping with blood.

The remaining ministers dared not even raise their heads. Only the young king, sitting on his throne, seemed unfazed, watching Charlotte with calm interest.

Charlotte smirked at the king. "Now, let's get to the point. Where's my payment?"

The king waved his hand, and five trembling maids entered the hall, each carrying a small, ornately carved box.

"Open them," the king ordered.

The maids quickly obeyed, revealing five Devil Fruits of varying shapes and colors.

Charlotte's eyes lit up as he inspected the fruits. Two of them stood out immediately.

One was the Fusion Fruit, which he recognized as the future power of Douglas Barrett. The other was a Logia-type Swamp Fruit.

He glanced at the king, a knowing look in his eyes. "You're giving me a Logia-type fruit? Bold of you."

The king smiled faintly. "Are you satisfied with the reward, Mr. Charlotte?"

Charlotte chuckled, closing the boxes with a satisfied snap.

"Satisfied? Very satisfied," he replied, his grin widening.

Although he only recognized two of the Devil Fruits, it was more than enough. Even if the other three were of lesser value, the haul was still incredible.

"As long as you're satisfied," the king said, his calm demeanor unwavering.

Charlotte hefted the five boxes in his arms. "Well, then, I'll be on my way. I wish you success in building a stronger kingdom."

With that, Charlotte turned and walked out of the hall, his mood bright.

Tang En, who had been holding his breath the entire time, finally exhaled in relief. When Charlotte had killed the ministers earlier, Tang En had feared the pirate might turn on the king next.

---

Outside the palace, Charlotte's crew gathered around him excitedly.

"Boss! Are these all Devil Fruits?" Paul and Isaac asked, their eyes wide with amazement as they pointed to the boxes in Charlotte's arms.

Devil Fruits were the rarest treasures of the sea. Many people lived their entire lives without even seeing one.

Now, eight Devil Fruits were in front of them, piled up like common trinkets.

"Yeah, eight of them," Charlotte confirmed, a hint of pride in his voice.

The crew erupted in cheers.

"We're rich!" Paul exclaimed.

"This is incredible!" Isaac added, staring at the boxes with wide eyes.

Charlotte grinned, enjoying their excitement. He knew these Devil Fruits would play a crucial role in strengthening his crew and solidifying his influence in the New World.
