Chapter 34

Title: Awakening...

Blackbeard looked at Drum island. His raft-like boat getting closer and closer to its destination. "Zehahahaha, what an unassuming place. One would never assume that the best doctors in this world reside here."

A big man with a wrestler's mask that covers his upper face comes next to Blackbeard. "Captain, what should we do in case the place resists our advances?"

That was when another thin man about Blackbeard's height comes out to look at the island through his scope. He was Agur, a rather thin man, with light brown hair that hands down to his lower back. "A marine ship with a bear's head on its front is docked on the port. Usually, only Marines who have notoriety and  done some big deeds have ships like that."

Laffite, a man with very pale skin, a top hand, and cane fly above his fellow crewmembers. "Hey, there~ you are having a meeting without me? That hurts my feelings."

"Zahahaha," Blackbeard laughed. "Laffite, do you know anything about a Marine with a ship that has a giant bear's head in front of it?"

Laffite used to be a marine himself, so the crew usually asked him when something unknown related to the Marines showed up. Still, though, the man with the white angel-like wings frowned in thought. "N-... Actually, I can think of someone. Bear D Max, a Marine Captain, got a ship just like that. Though smaller. So this information might be outdated."

"Bear D. Max?" wondered Blackbeard. "Never heard of him!"

"Well, he is a new up and coming Marine who in three years rose through the ranks lighting quick, and is considered to be the next big things in the marines," explained Laffite. "Some compare him to Garp. Young Max hasn't lost any battle, even eliminated Gecko Moria."

"Heh, that weakling? Anyone with half a brain could kill that zombie lover!" announced Blackbeard, his smile widening. "It seems like our up-and-coming Marine will have his 1st defeat soon."

What Blackbeard didn't see was Max kicking off the air, staying hidden amongst the clouds. He looked down at them and narrowed his eyes. Max pulled out a Transponder snail. "Raynare, detonate the underwater dynamite. Also, prepare the flamethrowers and canons. Blackbeard must not land on the island or then all will be lost."

*cough* *cough* "As fate would have it, the young woman got injured," a voice came from the other side, surprising Max.

"Who are you?" Asked Max. "What happened to Raynare?"

"Me? I am just a wandering doctor," *cough* *cough* the coughs were the only consistent thing coming through the other side.

'Hmmm… is Raynare already dead?' wonders Max. 'Well, that pisses me off. But anger would just hinder me in this situation.'

Max wondered how the man got inside the island, and what happened, but wondering about such a thing would be useless now. He had been very careful to monitor the island so no one came inside, especially an enemy, but keeping watch on a whole island isn't easy and people have many abilities that can easily change someone's appearance. 

Still, though, this would make things harder. "Welp, I gotta go for the kill now!"

Raynare was standing in the snow as she looked at the man in front of her. The crow woman's injuries were small and light. But on the other hand, the man she was fighting against had no injuries on him even though he seemed to be some old man laying down on his dead horse. Both the animal and the man laying on it   

She was fighting against Doc Q, a sickly man with a sickly horse. And yet, Raynare was being pushed back, normally she would be able to defeat someone like him with no problems, especially since Max had started teaching her Haki. Bug right now, no matter what she did, she felt like her defeat was inevitable.

Raynare's body had been infected with a fast-acting disease, so right now, only her Zoan Fruit constitution was holding her together and keeping her standing.

Still, though, Raynare hadn't given up that easily. She felt like she owed too much to Max to let him down now. Especially in such a dire moment. But what could she do? Her knowledge of medicine was almost nonexistent, and fighting some unknown disease wasn't her forte.

She thought of the countermeasure Max had told her about in a situation like this. Still, though, Raynare was a little hesitant, she would most likely die during that plan. She… didn't want to die, was that too much to ask for?

"Heeeh~" Doc Q looked at her with admiration. "By now you should be dead, yet you seem so energetic. Is your zoan an ancient or mythical one? But even then, the difference wouldn't be too big. Welp, once you fall down I will dissect you and find out."

"Hahahaha," Raynare suddenly laughed as realization dawned on her. "What the hell am I hesitating for?! One road leads to certain death and the other to a high chance of death. It made choice is obvious!"

"Huh?" *cough* "Did you go mad?" *cough* Doc Q was breaky able to talk as a coughing hit overtook his lungs. "The disease you have doesn't make you hallucinate. So why are you acting like that, woman?"

"Go and eat an apple, creepy old man!" Yelled out Raynare before she pulled out three golden beads at the size of the top of her finger and swallowed them all at the same time. 

{Rumble Ball: Awakening}

Suddenly her body grew in huge proportions, her clothes shifted to her huge size and Raynare no longer seemed something human as her body shifted into a giant feathery human-like hybrid with white eyes and dark wings on its back. Dark feathers surrounded the creature's crow-like giant body. 

Doc Q looked at this in shock. "W -What the hell is that?"

Every single instinct in his body told him to run away… but he couldn't.

"Hehehe~ this is amazing!!" Doc Q yelled out. "If I cut you up, you would be a pro tip specimen!! Now-"

BAAAAAAAM!!!

He was interrupted as one of the creatures' hands slammed down. The attack was easy to predict, unlike humans which can hide its intentions, the monster in front of Doc Q couldn't do so. For that reason, Observation Haki could read her intentions.

So Doc Q was able to dodge the attack by having his sick horse drink some medicine and jump back. The previously weak horse suddenly seemed to grow stronger and its muscles buffed up until the horse was three times its previous size.

Max on the other hand looked at where Raynare was and heard giant explosions coming from the place. Yet he only smirked. "She should be able to hold her opponent back and buy me some time."

He had no dreams of Raynare beating her opponent. Because beasts are easy to read, and while by now a direct hit from Raynare in her awakened form would kill her opponent… The hits were extremely unlikely to land if the opponent had Observation Haki and could move decently fast.

Max then called another person with the Transponder Snail. 

*catcha* 

The person from the other side picked up before the first ring could even come through. 

"Chopper, I need you to continue with Plan B." Max said through and he could see Chopper's eyes reflected on the Transponder Snail's. The young reindeer had an excited and bashful look on his face. Max smirked and added. "Chopper, as the captain of Team B and an intelligent officer, I expect you to do the plan perfectly, okay?"

"Yes sir!!" Yelled out the young reindeer, unable to hide his excitement.

Max smiled, Chopper had shown him the recipe on how to make Rumble Balls. Well, shown could be interpreted in many ways… okay, so Max had copied a book on Chopper's office. But that didn't mean that they weren't friends. Even though Max does use his friendship to get Chopper to teach him medicine and how it feels like to use different Zoan Forms.

""Plan B, commence!"" Both of them yelled out at the same time.

A/N: Will post this here earlier than usual, was at a party and it's 11:43 AM and I haven't slept all night. I will probably be asleep by the time I usually post, so better post it now.

P.S: Wait... I could have put it in a timer... welp, what's done is done.

P.P.S: At least I won't have a hangover, drunk half a beer the whole party. Acted drunk as sh*t though, so I had the excuse of being "drunk" when asking a couple girls out... got rejected, but hey, at least I can use the excuse of being drunk. They already had boyfriends. Also who TF comes at a party alone when they have a boyfriend/girlfriend?!!

P.P.P.S: Wait that's me, I too have a girlfriend.

P.P.P.P.S: No, I am not salty for getting rejected, and then laughed at after turning around. (T_T)
