(Marine POV)
The silence was deafening. Despite saying the execution wouldn't be for three days, no one believed Jack Sparrow would take the time to gather his forces and attack on the third day, so it was all rather tense as everyone waited in formation for whatever attack may come for the full three days!!
It was already the day after the Newspaper was released to the world, every single person on guard for an attack that could come at any moment. Honestly, attacking someone like Jack and giving him time to prepare was stupid beyond measure, and if the marines weren't trying to show the world they weren't scared of the Adventurer's Association, they never would have done something like this!!
It was well known that Jack had a flying ship, and for that reason the Marines had commissioned anti-air cannons from Dr. Vegapunk himself. Close to 75 of the laser cannons were mounted all over Marine HQ, but even then Aokiji didn't think that would be enough to stop Jack.
The man was a Logia fruit user like himself, and though it might be able to destroy his ship and maybe kill some of his subordinates, it would mostly piss the man off even more than he no doubt was.
From what he was told from Garp and Sengoku, and had personally seen and heard himself, Aokiji wanted nothing to do with the man, yet here he was, preparing to go to war with him. Hell, fighting Whitebeard sounded more fun than fighting Jack, at least he seemed human!!
The silence reigned for hours, and with nothing happening, many people were hoping Jack wouldn't attack for a while, while others were tired of waiting for the inevitable and just wanted all of this to be over.
Many people's hopes and fears became reality however when something did happen, something none of them expected. Rather than an armada of ships and thousands of enemies at their doorstep, attacks came seemingly from thin air.
First there was a crack of lightning in the sky in the middle of a clear sunny day, and it didn't take a genius to figure out the origin of who caused it. What was alarming however was the fact no one could see the man who caused it.
For almost a full 5 minutes nothing happened, and there didn't appear to be a sign of anyone in the skies. Eventually though, something did come, and it wasn't what anyone was expecting.
Small objects fell from the sky at seemingly random, and it wasn't clear what any of them were until they got closer to the ground, but by that point it was already too late.
The small containers filled with a transparent pink liquid weren't known to those below a certain rank, but those that did recognize the objects for what they were, paled. Aokiji being one of them.
Reacting as fast as he could, Aokiji appeared in front of the wave of soldiers, making a wall of ice appear in front of them all. The destructive prowess of the Dyna stones was said to rival that of the ancient weapons, so even with the ice wall there wasn't that much it could do to defend against the explosions, but his main goal was to divert the blasts.
The ice walls went far above the island, and they were thicker than most buildings, but it didn't seem to be close enough. Aokiji could feel the strength of the wall giving out as it was destroyed bit by bit from the other side, and he had to keep reinforcing the wall with his power.
Sadly, his attempts to shield the blasts just weren't enough, and eventually they were blown apart due to the force of the blasts. However the walls did manage to mitigate most of the blast, and most people were simply thrown backwards into the air.
When the explosions finally cleared, the marines took stock of the damage, and they could only swallow hard at the aftermath of such an explosion.
Every anti-aircraft weapon was destroyed, every battleship in the bay was gone, the cannons were gone, and thousands of marines that had been unfortunate enough to be on the other side of the ice wall manning those weapons had lost their lives.
The 'battle' had only been going on for less than 10 minutes and already they had suffered massive losses.
'They're crazy!! Had I not used the ice wall, the blast would have killed their own man!!' Aokiji thought darkly, then a horrible thought struck him. Whirling around to look towards the execution platform, Aokiji was horrified to see their victim was no longer there, and it didn't seem that the higher ups around the platform even registered that he was gone.
With a sinking feeling, Aokiji looked up into the sky, finally getting a look at the force that had come to stop them. There was only one ship in the sky, it's black sails billowing proudly for the world to see. On the ship, a little over a hundred figures could be seen, and among them was the man at the forefront of all of this, and he was holding their victim.
------------
(General POV)
The Dyna stones had worked as the perfect distraction for Jack to move in under the cover of the explosions and grab Stain, taking him right out from under the noses of the morons who had dared to attack him in the first place.
Luke had dropped ten of the nuke-like objects all at once from such a great height that the marines couldn't even hope to see them, combined with his speed it went off without a hitch.
Staring down at the aftermath of what he had set in motion, Jack couldn't help but smile darkly. To top that all off, the world had seen what just happened, all thanks to the video transponder set aimed down towards Marine HQ from the Pearl.
Stain was relatively okay, at least he would be once Jennifer stopped smothering the man. It would still take him a few days to be completely recovered, but he was alright, and would come back after this whole event stronger than ever.
Flying down a little so he was between the Pearl and Marine HQ, Jack made a little show of power as a giant ball of darkness began to form in his hand, looking like a blackhole that was sucking the very light out of the air around the area.
"YOU MESS WITH ONE OF US, YOU MESS WITH US ALL!!" Jack shouted out in declaration, then as if to punctuate his words, he threw the massive ball of darkness down towards the thousands of Marines on the battlefield.
Kizaru and Aokiji tried to stop the incoming attack, but no matter what they did, their attacks just vanished inside the black mass. The Marines tried to run away to avoid whatever was going to happen when that thing touched down, but it was hopeless.
As soon as the ball of darkness touched down, it broke apart like a water balloon, the darkness itself taking on the properties of water as it washed over everyone and everything in its path.
Like the explosion from the Dyna stones, Aokiji tried to stop the spreading of darkness with ice walls, but it fared worse against the darkness than it had against the explosion.
When the darkness finally stopped and faded into nothingness, there was only a crater in its wake, and every person it had touched was simply gone.
"NOW!!!" Jack shouted, causing the base to go silent once more as they waited to see what other horrifying thing Jack had planned.
Seeing all of their attention on him, Jack couldn't help but smirk evilly. With their gazes so focused on him, the marines weren't focused on the skies directly above them, at least not until the massive objects were low enough to be seen, but by that time it was too late for anyone to truly get away from them.
Almost a hundred massive spike balls made of pure steel rained down from the skies, shaking the very island itself as they touched down. The Admirals and Vice-Admirals did their best to either try and stop the massive balls of death, or kick them away from the lower marine soldiers who were basically sitting ducks down below.
The giant squadron, composed of 7 massive giants tried their best to help as well, but 2 of them were crushed like insects beneath a boot, the great spike balls being more than they could bear, crushing them beneath their weight before they punctured holes all throughout their bodies.
When the island finally settled back out, thousands of more marines lay dead, crushed beneath the mounds of steel.
Aside from the screaming of the few marines who had just been injured in the rain of death, the area was eerily quiet compared to what it should have been, everyone focused on the group of monsters in the sky, wondering what was going to happen next.
Jack watched as they stared up in the sky, looking everywhere for what was next to come rather then just towards him. Sadly, they were looking in the wrong place. With their attention on the skies, they once again realized too late on the next attack, which was right in front of them.
The balls of steel spread around them began to move and spin before they knew what was happening, and they were helpless as they mowed people over, shredding them apart, not giving them a chance to get out of this.
The Admirals jumped into the fray, destroying the giant balls, either liquifying them, freezing them in place, or turning them into rubble. When the final ball was destroyed, everyone turned their attention to the skies, clearly seeing one responsible for all the death around them.
A young woman with light blue hair was floating around in circles, her arms outstretched like she was directing a choir. Seeing the one who had obviously been controlling the balls of death, Kong stepped forward and shouted, "Finish her, Kizaru!!"
The Light-man needed no other instructions as he turned into a ball of light and shot straight towards the blue-haired woman, hoping to take her out, while at the same time making Jack's ship fall to the ground with everyone on it.
Kizaru turned into a streak of light and shot towards the woman, but just as he was about to get to her, a black figure appeared in front of him and grabbed his arms, holding him in place.
Everyone watched as the figures' features turned solid and Jack appeared, a look of pure rage adorning his features.
"THATS! MY! WIFE!!" Jack roared murderously before he took a deep breath.
With him being so close to Kizaru and the man being held in place, Jack let out a stream of raven black flames from his mouth like a fire breathing dragon right into Kizaru's face, not stopping for a good minute.
When the flames subsided, there was an audible gasp from below as everyone saw what was left of one of their Admirals, arguably one of the strongest men here. The head, neck, and shoulders were gone, the remains of the yellow suit being the only identifier that the corpse belonged to Kizaru.
Jack held the corpse in the air for a few seconds as he stared hatefully at those down below, silently daring them to make a move on Nojiko again. Only a few seconds had passed since Kizaru's death, and before everyone's eyes, the body disappeared and a big mound of cash appeared in it's place.
Before the billions of berries could fall to the ground, Jack quickly stored it all away back into his inventory. This was too large of an amount to just let blow away to his enemies.
With the corpse gone, Jack used his Haki, then felt one of the many fruits in the baskets on the deck of the Pearl begin to change, and he knew the Glint-Glint Fruit was now his.
Seeing how he got his money back and the Glint-Glint Fruit was now in his possession, Jack turned his attention to the woman floating in the air beside him. "This wasn't how I planned to kill him, but it worked." Jack said, taking Nojiko in his arms as he kissed her deeply, shocking the world once more.
He had no doubt that after his little declaration about Nojiko being his wife and the obvious baby bump, she would become extremely wanted after this, and with the secret out, he saw no need to be subtle about it. Plus he did just kill an Admiral for her, so he felt he deserved a reward.
She wasn't actually his wife yet, but they were basically married, and soon enough it would happen.
The world watched as Jack God-damned Sparrow made out with a beautiful woman, disregarding the marines as if they truly meant nothing to him. "Hey! Get a room!!" Luke shouted, trying to get Jack back to reality.
Pausing his lips briefly, Jack shouted, "GO GET EM ALREADY!!" After that he went back to what he was doing before, not bothering about the people around him.
The Adventurer's didn't need to be told a second time, and with a deafening roar, they attacked. Not surprisingly, Luke was the first into the fray, dancing across the battlefield like a God of death, while the others arrived only seconds later.
The marines, seeing how their plan had backfired miserably, began to retreat, the little good it did them. Aokiji, Kong, a man dressed in a purple samurai robe who was obviously Fujitora, a tall man dressed in all gray, and finally a man with big muttonchop sideburns, standing a little shorter than even the average Marine soldier, dressed in white all jumped into the battlefield, knowing if they didn't step in now the battle was as good as lost.
The man in gray stepped forward, then unleashed a massive stream of ash from his hands, encompassing the air around them so the people attacking couldn't see. It didn't matter to him that the soldiers retreating couldn't see either, as to him they were quite expendable.
That was the mindset of those who were trained in Cipher Pol, and you couldn't ever really trust them not to kill you if it meant killing their target as well.
With the Logia Ash-Ash Fruit, he felt himself untouchable, like most Logia users were known to do.
The little short man with wicked looking sideburns stepped forward as well. Loosening up his shoulders, he put one foot in front of the other, then clapped his hands together as hard as he could. The result was a sound wave that rocked the battlefield, dropping a few of the Adventurer's who were hopping around in the air to the ground, while also making a few hundred marine soldiers drop to their knees as well.
Fujitora made a downward slash with his sword, and a few seconds later everyone could see a meteor falling from the sky heading towards the flying ship belonging to Jack.
Scarcely had the meteor come into view before it was blown into tiny dust particles and pushed back upwards. The perpetrator behind the action was unknown, but everyone assumed it was one of the adventurer's considering it helped them.
"Where the hell is Sakazuki?!!" Kong shouted as he directed some soldiers to fire on a group of Adventurers who were mowing through their ranks. Turning to look around the area, Aokiji was quite perplexed to see that Akainu was, in fact, gone.
There was no chance of him having run away from the battlefield, as he would go against one of the four emperors themselves if he was let off his leash, so his disappearance was troubling.
Trying to engage the Adventurer's in one-on-one combat was not in the books, as whenever one of them was in a tight situation, it seemed like 10 more of them appeared out of nowhere and turned the tide.
The minks especially were difficult to deal with, as their strength was far above the humans, and they used Sea Stone weapons. Whenever a Devil Fruit user from the marines side tried to cause some mayhem, the minks would appear and rip them apart.
The regular members of the Adventurers Association were bad enough, but add in the two monsters of the group, Luke and Smoker, and it was a recipe for disaster.
Aokiji could see flashes of lightning around the battlefield, and whenever the lightshow cleared up there was a pile of limbs and corpses. Smoker was another matter altogether. No one could find the man, but with the wave of smoke that was keeping the mountain of ash at bay, it was obvious that he was here somewhere.
Finally there was the leader of these monsters, who by the way was still feeling up his wife in the air!!
Aokiji glanced towards Kong, the two of them sharing a look before turning their gazes towards the lightning. Without having to say anything, the two of them rushed towards Luke, hoping to be able to take him out the same way they had done with Stain, though sadly they wouldn't have Kizaru or Akainu to assist them.
Despite not having two of their strongest members for this attack like they had planned beforehand, the two powerhouses still charged forward. Kong's titles weren't all for show it seemed, because he appeared out of nowhere and landed a hit on Luke, though the lightning demon did manage to block the attack with his sword, simply being pushed away from the force of the blow.
"A unicorn and a popsicle! How terrifying!!" Luke said mockingly as he looked at the two people who had come to challenge him.
Just as Aokiji was going to step up to the plate to attack, a small golden ball appeared in front of his eyes, drawing his attention. With a serious look on his face, Aokiji kept his guard up for whatever may come, or at least for what he thought might come.
He was quite puzzled when the small gold ball took the form of a tiny version of a young woman in a skimpy outfit. Not sure what the hell was going on, he stared at it with his full attention, his jaw almost hitting the ground when the little gold woman started to strip.
Just as it's tits were about to be exposed, it warped into a blanket thing and shot towards him, enclosing his head in gold. Thankfully he simply just turned to ice and reformed away from the little gold object, which was once again looking like a tiny woman, only now it was pouting at him.
"What the hell are you?!!" Aokiji shouted, wondering if this thing was actually some woman or if it was just a creation of someone's power. He didn't get an answer before Luke was kicked into him, the both of them flying into a steel wall, Aokiji taking the brunt of the hit.
"You're not very soft!" Luke declared as he punched Aokiji in the nose before he shot back off towards Kong. Getting back to his feet, Aokiji looked around for any other little distractions, instead he saw something, or rather someone he hadn't quite expected to see.
'Nico Robin...' He thought, his mind going back to the day where he helped her escape Ohara.
Seemingly sensing his gaze on her, Robin turned her gaze to him, and Aokiji couldn't help but walk towards her. Whether or not it had been the right decision to save her in the past, she was clearly an enemy now, and if she happened to give Jack the location for the Ancient Weapons, the marines were even more screwed than they were now.
With quick steps, Aokiji moved towards her position, his approach causing her to somewhat freeze up a little. He had been the terror and nightmare in her heart for over 20 years, so it was only fair that learning a few little tricks from Jack wouldn't suddenly remove her fear of him.
Sadly for Aokiji and thankful for Robin, someone else intervened before he could get within 50 feet of her, someone he hadn't wanted to fight.
"Get out of my way... Smoker!" Aokiji said, clearly not wanting to fight someone he once considered a friend.
"Can't do that!" Smoker answered, releasing a breath of smoke at the end. It was plain to see that he wouldn't be budging on the matter, and although he didn't want to, Aokiji would have to fight him.
Elsewhere on the battlefield, the little man with mutton chop sideburns was bringing people to their knees, more often than not it was his own men. He was a stunner, while those with him were the executioners, and once he gave them the opening they needed, they rushed forward to deliver the finishing blows. However something stopped them, something they couldn't see, yet was so strong they couldn't even budge it.
"Back off!!" Tashigi stated as she dropped down from the sky with a sword in hand. The blue Devil Fruit she had been given had not been passed over, as she knew she could protect more people with it than without. Jack and Smoker had both told her that it was no weakness to accept more power, and if she wanted to truly become strong then she would need it.
The Fruit she had been given was the Barrier-Barrier Fruit, and for someone who wanted to protect others more than anything, this was the power for her. Her barrier was what the executioners had run into before her arrival, and though she had already protected many others with it so far in this battle, she still couldn't help the smile that appeared when she saved others.
Mutton chops didn't like that she had intervened with his business, so he opted to deal with her just like he had done with his enemies in the past before he was made into an Admiral. Sending out a soundwave towards Tashigi, he expected her to fall down or at least stagger backwards at the very least, yet she hadn't looked affected in the slightest.
His confusion must have clearly showed, because the next second she spoke, "It's a barrier, dickhead!! Soundwaves can be slowed or outright stopped depending on what they have to go through!!"
Having apparently had enough of mutton chops, Tashigi wrapped up him and all of his executioners into a barrier, then started to make the barrier shrink. Despite the few of them that could use Haki, they couldn't keep their whole bodies coated, nor keep the parts that were coated for an indefinite amount of time.
It only took a few minutes before they all popped like grapes, the Admiral included. With all of the enemies in her vicinity dead, Tashigi gathered up her allies that were lying on the ground and helped them back to the Pearl, leaving the enormous pile of money that had appeared in the place of the Admiral.
The giant squadron was trying to wreak havoc, but their sizes were working against them as they fought against the wolf and bear minks. All the strength in the world wouldn't mean shit if you can't hit your targets, and the minks were proving that point.
Then there were the Warlords!
Jimbe was in a clash with the half fish-man, Nemo, the both of them seemingly having a friendly spar more than a fight to the death. Before having come to the battle, Jack had told his crew about the old and new warlords, and how two of them could be spared if it really came down to it, while the others were all fair game. Those two being Jimbe and Hancock.
Bartholomew Kuma might have made the list, but a little research into him, and Jack had found that his mind was already gone. He was basically already dead, and his corpse now belonged to the government. Jack had already discussed it at length with Dragon, and the two deemed it better to end the thing he had become, though Dragon had asked Jack to bring back the corpse of his friend if he could.
The reasoning for keeping Hancock alive was quite simple. She hated the marines, but she loved her sisters and homeland more. It was either come here and help the marines or they would see that Amazon Lily would suffer.
Nemo hadn't exactly told Jimbe he wasn't going to be fighting to the death with the man, but he had started talking first rather than sending blows. Given the fact that no one else tried to attack the fish-man, he came to somewhat of his own conclusions.
Really, their whole interaction was about him giving pointers to Nemo on fish-man karate, and discussing the former slaves of fish-man island. Nemo invited Jimbe to come visit the East Blue after this, and that was another of the things that led Jimbe to think that Nemo wasn't trying to kill him.
Blackbeard was more running away than he was fighting. He was confident in being able to fight against many, if not most of the people from the Adventurers Association in one-on-one combat, save for the key figures dancing about the battlefield.
There were some true monsters in that group and none of them seemed like they would give him the chance for singe combat, and based on everything he had seen so far, the odds of the marines coming out on top in this didn't look good. He wasn't a complete fool, so when he saw how things would turn out, he decided to save himself rather than die here fighting for the marines.
Capone Bege was dead. He had been on the unfortunate side of the ice wall when the Dyna stones were dropped. He hadn't even had the chance to show the world what he could do before he was erased from the face of the world. Same went for all of his crew who happened to be inside of him when the explosion happened. (A.N. Don't know why, but I absolutely hate Bege!!)
Edward Weevil got to show the world his prowess, though not on the people he was supposed to kill. A tiny old woman on his shoulders, his mother Miss Bakkin, informed him to attack anyone around them.
She had no love for the marines or Adventurers, but when the marines let their own allies get caught up in their attack, she figured it must be okay to do the same, thus resulting in the shit show they were in now.
The Adventurers had basically shrugged their shoulders towards them and let them continue on, not bothering to try and deal with someone who was helping them. Miss Bakkin realized that, as well as the fact that they might be killed by the Adventurers once they were victorious, and by her calculations they would be, so she had Weevil start making his way towards the edge of the battlefield, so when things turned for the worse she and Weevil could disappear.
As for Hancock, she took out marines and Adventurer's alike, turning all of them to stone, though she made it a special point of breaking the marine statues while leaving the statues belonging to the Adventurers intact. Her sole reason for doing so was because she didn't want to upset Jack and Luke, not because she actually cared about the Adventurers themselves.
Ever since Luke had killed the Celestial Dragons she had become a little obsessive over him, and when she learned about how Jack was the one responsible for raiding the Holy City, she had wanted to meet him as well.
Her obsession with Luke stemmed from the fact that he had killed the Dragons who had owned her and her sisters in the past. She had always thought the Nobles to be untouchable, and yet these two had dominated them and even killed them. She wanted to ask them more than ever why they did what they did, and a big part of her wanted to thank Luke.
(A.N. No she isn't in love with Luke at this point. She is messed in the head, and does fall in love easily, but it's going to take a little bit more than just killing someone she is scared of.)
Up in the air, Jack and Nojiko finally split apart from each other. "It's time to get back into this! Do you need anything before I go?" Jack asked, still ignoring the conflict down below as he floated over to the ship with Nojiko.
"Some strawberries and more ammo." She answered as she sat herself on the railing of the ship, taking a few shots at some poor bastards down below. Jack put out a large fruit platter beside her on a table, and beside it he put 10 magazines all fully loaded. Next he walked over to the crates filled with fruit and began to pull out all of the ones that had clearly been morphed due to becoming Devil Fruits.
Castle-Castle Fruit- Capone Bege
Sound-Sound Fruit- Muttonchop guy
Glint-Glint Fruit- Kizaru
Ash-Ash Fruit- Other Admiral
'Huh, someone killed that guy, neat!!' Jack thought with a small chuckle. There were quite a few random other Devil Fruits he found in the boxes that he hadn't even heard of before, but there was one in particular that caught his eyes, making them almost pop out of their sockets.
'WHO THE FUCK KILLED THE PUPPY?!!' Jack thought with astonishment as he picked up the red fruit. Having seen it hundreds of times when he browsed through the store, there was no way he wouldn't recognize it. 'The Magma-Magma Fruit!'
I'M BACK!! Sorry for such a long wait!! I actually intended for this to be done awhile ago, but my eyes got fucked up!! Thankfully, they are getting better, and I should be back to posting like normal!! I also have a surprise coming up in the near future for those of you who are still reading my books!! Anyway, like always, ENJOY!!
