Another Chance

A young man, was watching his favorite show in his room at home. The young man's name was Viper, and he was watching One Piece on his computer, all of a sudden he sighed "I wish I could be in their world." Viper was only 16 years old, he was particularly interested in science, and not the chemistry science, he was interested in the science of different worlds, and how to reach them. This interest stemmed from non other than his dream of going to the One Piece world, Viper clenched his fists and said "I've got to do it!" he clicked off, the One Piece episodes and went back to researching about theories.

Viper was an extremely smart child, he could think of solutions to problems, that not even adults three times his age could think of, but the problem was that he was a loner. He didn't have any friends, he would stay in his room for days at a time, tinkering with various objects. That wasn't to say he was shy, he was actually very good at talking to people and was actually very funny, but truly he didn't have a single person who he could call a true friend, he could tell all the people around him only talked to him because of his intellect, even his parents only used him. Viper decided that he was going to make friends himself, and that's what he did.

2 years later

Viper was in a lab, tinkering with a robot. He was 18 years old now, and he was being funded by the government to make A.I robots to substitute humans in wars, the government was going to give him a team of scientists to help him but he denied and said that he works better alone "I can make robots to do their jobs if I need the extra hands." and so, Viper was alone in his lab, making robots. He wasn't concerned at all by what the government asked of him to do, the way he saw it, they were giving him access to his dream and he was completing his end of the bargain, if the world goes to hell, he won't be around to witness it. Viper wiped his forehead and smiled "A.I 012 completed." he pushed several buttons on his keyboard and booted up the robot's A.I, causing the robot to start moving, Viper watched it with a big smile.

The robot got off the table and looked at Viper and said "What is your order Master?" Viper clapped and said "Don't call me Master, I'm Viper! We're friends! I'll call you Hydreon." Hydreon bowed his head and said "As you wish Viper." Viper was happy and said "Your body right now is only temporary, and i'll work on your A.I in the near future, soon you'll be just like me!" Hydreon said "Just like you? A real human?" Viper nodded and said "Yes, unfortunately I have to take care of my work before we can fix you up but I promise you wont have to wait for long." Hydreon nodded and Viper got to work.

10 years later

Viper and Hydreon were putting the finishing touches on the A.I system, they created. Hydreon had a new sleek body, and he said "Viper, why did you make me?" Viper said "Because I wanted a friend, you're actually very different from the other A.I I made." Hydreon said "How?" Viper said "Your A.I is capable of hyper-learning, which means you can evolve to the point of self-thought and you have no restrictions. The A.I for the government has several restrictions such as no hurting humans, and they are only able to follow commands." Hydreon nodded and said "So, I am basically human. Won't the government want me instead of these mindless robots?" Viper nodded and said seriously "I can shut you down forcefully and implode your A.I, also they can't control you, therefore you are capable of fighting back." Hydreon was silent for a moment before saying "You can kill me?" Viper turned to look at Hydreon and said "Yes." before he walked away and went to get something, Hydreon was sad and said "So I am just a tool after all."

Viper walked back and laughed "Having a mid-life existential crisis? Here." he handed Hydreon a little box and continued "I was going to Implement this inside yourself before the government came to take the A.I but I guess it's an early birthday present." Hydreon opened the box and saw a little chip, he looked up and said "What is this?" Viper chuckled and picked it up out of the box and opened a slot on Hydreon's head and inserted it into a slot while saying "This, is the chip that can forcefully Implode your conscious, wiping your A.I away completely, well really it makes you explode and since your A.I is built into the chip, you are basically in control of your life now." he finished and smiled at him and dusted his hands off saying "I can't control you now. I wiped your A.I from the system, everything is in your body now, If anybody tries to take it out, you'll explode. Congratulations, you are a full pseudo-human now!" Hydreon could've cried if he had tearducts, he hugged Viper and said "Thank you Viper." Viper hugged him back and said "Of course you're my friend did you forget? Anyway now that we completed the government's requirements I can finally focus fully on my dream!" Hydreon clapped excitedly and said "All the multiverse stuff you've been working on?! That stuff was super cool!" Viper nodded and said "Yeah, although it could possibly take a long time, but I will succeed!" Hydreon patted him on the shoulder and said "Don't worry we have all the time in the world, I'm sure you will." Viper smiled and they started to work.

50 years later

Hydreon rushed into a room and said "Viper! They're coming again!" Viper was still tinkering, he stopped and pushed a button, the giant machine next to him transformed into a briefcase, he stuffed into a back pack and packed his computer and necessary tools and said "Hydreon, hit the self destruct system and come with me!" Hydreon nodded and slammed his hand onto a button before following after Viper through a corridor. Viper opened a door and jumped into a plane-type ship, Hydreon followed after him, Viper started pressing buttons and input a certain set of coordinates before saying "We can just go to the emergency lab, don't worry." Hydreon smiled and nodded and the plane took off shooting into the sky and disappearing, as the lab exploded, incinerating all data and evidence of the two being there.

10 years later

Viper was sitting next to a machine pressing buttons and said "World 45987, not the target. Fuck!" Hydreon patted his back and said "It's alright you'll find it eventually." Viper smiled at Hydreon, who was now more human looking, he had hair and clothes except on the inside he was still all machine, and Viper said "Yeah, we'll get there I know it!" all of a sudden an alarm went off, Hydreon said "Keep looking! I'll hold them off!" Viper nodded and started searching through worlds again.

Hydreon smashed through the door, and fell to the ground. Viper stood up and said "Hydreon! Are you okay?!" Hydreon got up and said "Yeah. Don't worry about me! Continue to find your dream!" Viper didn't like that, he frowned and said "Hydreon, what are you gonna do?!" Hydreon smiled and turned to Viper, he had tears in his eyes as he said "Escape from here. I'll hold them off for you." Viper turned pale and said "You can't hold them off yourself! I'm not going to leave you here!" Hydreon shook his head and pushed several buttons, turning the giant machine into a briefcase and packed it into a bag, he threw it at Viper and dragged him to a plane ship, threw him in and pushed the coordinates and said "It's your dream Viper, I'm glad you created me. You'll always be my friend, but this is goodbye." tears fell from his eyes as he smiled and turned around, a bunch of robots and soldiers burst through the door "There he is!" one of the soldiers pointed to Viper, who was in the plane. Viper screamed with tears in his eyes "HYDREON!!!" the plane flew away, and Hydreon said "I'll never forget you, my friend" before he pushed a spot on his neck, causing a square piece of metal to fall off, revealing a button. Hydreon sneered at the group and said "You'll all be joining me in sending him off." he pushed the button, and smiled before he exploded, causing a mushroom cloud to appear killing everyone who was chasing after Viper.

Viper watched from the plane, and as it got further and further away he finally saw the mushroom cloud explosion and cried "HYDREOOOOONN!!!" as the plane flew towards the destination and disappeared from sight.

5 years later

Viper was sitting by himself cycling through worlds emotionlessly, he heard the alarm but he just didn't care as he said "World 564789, fail." The door opened and a man walked in with robots following him, Viper didn't even look at him. The man said "Quite the chase you've given us, Viper." Viper was still cycling through worlds and said "Thanks for the compliment, Kent." Kent chuckled and said "You're not going to run anymore?" Viper waved him off and said "You'll find me anyway, what's the point, I don't have much longer to live anyway." Kent smiled and said "That's right, I assume you understand your position. Just give us your World transverser and we'll let you live, how does that sound? Think of it as a favor from a friend." Viper sneered and said "Really? What a favor, you're going to let a 93 year old man, live whatever life he has left. Very admirable. If I remember correctly, you were the one who funded me when I was 17?" Kent nodded and said "I remember it like it was yesterday, you were just a naive kid then, thinking that he was going to accomplish his dreams." Viper laughed and said "You know Kent, I'm much smarter than you, how could I not see what you were doing, I only went with you because my dream coincided with your goals, nothing more nothing less." Kent sneered and said "And look where all your brains have got you, still at my mercy. You've grown old, and I still look young." Viper sneered and said "Yeah, I didn't become an abomination of nature, just to fuel my miserable aspirations. But I suppose you've accomplished your goal." Kent snapped and said "If I must become an abomination for my goals, I absolutely will! Anything to bring my visions to reality!" Viper laughed and said "Yeah, the to become immortal and control the world as 'god' story, i've heard it a thousand times." Kent spread his hands open and laughed "And I've done it! With the robots and A.I you developed, along with my cybernetic parts, I am god here." Viper retorted "That's only if you are protected, mind you. Without your robot army, you're just another cyborg." Kent sneered and said "So what? I will always be protected anyway. It doesn't matter if i'm vulnerable, who can stop me?" Viper shook his head, before his eyes widened on a certain picture on the machine, he smiled and said "It does matter Kent because," Viper hit the button and the machine started glowing before shooting a portal in front of Viper, as he continued "You aren't invincible." before he jumped into the portal.

Viper landed on the ground and took out a remote, before he turned around and looked at Kent through the portal "Allow me to demonstrate." he sneered and clicked the button, causing the machine on the other side to start exploding. Kent went pale and shouted "NO! VIPER YOU BASTARD!!!!" The portal in front of Viper disappeared and he slumped to the ground and looked around saying "World 564813, target found." Viper got up off the ground and dusted off his leg coat before walking down to a rock on the grass and sitting down, he said "I wonder where I am?"

2 weeks went by and Viper was sitting on a chair he made out of wood, eating off a table he also made, while looking out to the sea. He finished his food and saw a huge ship coming towards him, he looked up and his eyes widened as he saw a skull and crossbones with a strawhat on it.

The ship landed on the beach and a young man jumped off the boat and was extremely excited, the rest of the group on the boat, came down as well. An orange haired woman said "Is this it?" the young man who was the first off the boat looked around and pointed towards Viper and said "Let's ask that old guy!" the group looked at Viper and were a bit confused, but the young man had run off already, they sighed and followed after him.

Viper was still in shock, as the young man ran up to him and said "Hey old man!" Viper chuckled and said "Hello, who are you?" despite knowing the answer he still asked, the young man said "I'm Monkey D. Luffy! And I'm the pirate king!" Viper was confused, as the rest of the group caught up with Luffy and Nami said "Hello, sorry to bother you, I'm Nami, what's your name?" Viper smiled and said "I'm Viper, nice to meet you all." Nami was about to say something when Luffy opened his mouth and said "Hey old man! Is this Raftel?" Viper said "I don't know. Did you use the 4 road Poneglyphs to get here?" Luffy nodded and Viper sighed sadly "Then I guess this is Raftel." Luffy was confused and asked "What's wrong old man?" Viper looked at him and the rest of the crew and said "Well, Luffy do you want to hear a story before you go and find the One Piece?" Luffy thought about it and nodded, the rest of the crew were curious about the old man as well. Viper sighed and said "You might as well sit down, this old man's story is not a happy one." The crew sat down on the chairs that seemed like they appeared from nowhere.

Viper cleared his throat and said "There was a boy, who used to watch his favorite show every week. He had a dream, that he would get to the world in the story no matter what, everybody laughed at his dream and said it was impossible, the show and story wasn't real! Tell told him his dream was destined to fail. The boy however was not deterred by his childish dreams, he was extremely smart. Eventually he was funded by his government to create robot A.I, artificial intelligence, basically create robots who could think and move on their own. The boy didn't care about what they were used for, all he cared about was that he would have enough funds to chase after his dream. He was a lonely child because of his intelligence, everyone he met only wanted to talk to him because they knew he would do great things, even his parents were no exception to this, so the boy created a special robot, and designed him to have an extreme version of A.I that make the robot more of a human, the boy named the robot Hydreon and was his only friend for his whole life." Viper went on to explain his own life and Hydreon's sacrifice for his own dream, Viper coughed and saw the blood in his hand and smiled as he continued "The boy was at the very end of his rope, he had become an old man, and he finally stopped running away, but he finally accomplished his dream and landed on a beach in the world of his story. Would you like to guess what the story was?" Luffy tried to think and shook his head saying "I don't know." the rest of the crew quickly put the pieces together and were staring at Viper with wide eyes, Viper coughed up more blood and chuckled "The story was of a young boy with a straw hat, who wanted to be the pirate king, and his crew who followed him every step of the way." Viper smiled as he looked at the rest of the crew and said "I think, I might've missed a bit of your adventure, though hahaha" Viper kept coughing up blood and was getting weaker and weaker, Luffy finally understood "You were the boy?! And we're the story?!" Viper laughed and nodded as he said "Although because of my work and to accomplish my dream, I never saw the end, I figured I would see it with my own eyes instead" he sighed and said "I don't know where the One Piece is but if I had to guess it would be in the middle of the island. Sorry for taking up so much of your time." he chuckled and shook his head as he finished "Go, Accomplish your dreams." Viper smiled and sat back in his chair.

Luffy stood up and was silent before he spoke "Old man, you said you never saw the end right?" Viper weakly nodded, Luffy smiled and wrapped his arm around Viper, putting him on Franky's shoulders and he said "Then come with us and see for yourself." Viper was shocked and teared up "Are you serious?" Viper chuckled and said "I might die before I even get there." Chopper jumped on Franky's shoulder and said "Don't worry Viper, I'll make sure you can live!" Viper stopped him and said "Chopper, I don't want to live." Chopper said "But-" Viper interrupted him and said "Just treat it as this old man's last wish, as long as I can see the end I'll be happy, I already achieved my dream. I don't have anything else I want to do." Chopper nodded and check over Viper anyway, he said "I can guarantee you will live for at least 2 days, after that though.." he went silent, as did the rest of the crew, Viper laughed and rubbed Chopper's head and said "Don't worry about it. I've lived long enough." Viper looked down at Franky and said "Although, I wish I hadn't, your parts are pretty unique. I only made my legs and arms robotic so I could continue working. I even tried to replicate your cola fuel system, I couldn't succeed." the group started moving towards the center of the island and Franky said "Not surprised, what I heard from your story, you were the greatest genius of your world right?" Viper blushed and said "I guess you could say that." Franky chuckled and said "The cola system, separates the carbon dioxide from the liquid and transforms the molecules into their gaseous form, to power my parts." Viper nodded and said "That's what I tried to do but the liquid was wasted and piled up, I never saw where you use the liquid form but I assume it was never wasted." Franky brightened up and started explaining his process, while the rest of the crew smiled.

Viper also said "Do any of you have a devil fruit on you? As you probably know they don't exist in my world, I never got the chance to study them." Robin took one out of her backpack and said "This is the mythical Zoan, Hebi Hebi no Mi, Model: Quetzalcoatl fruit." Viper held it in his hand and said "A mythical Zoan!? Very strange. Do you mind if i cut a bit of it?" Robin said "Not a all." Viper took a knife out of his pocket and cut the fruit open, and looked at his contents "In my world, a lot of people speculated devil fruit origins but most of them were irrational, and the rest were never confirmed. I believe the general belief was that they are the manifestations of the devils who betrayed their king by stealing his powers. Although it was never confirmed." Robin looked thoughtful, and Viper handed her back the fruit and said "My apologies for cutting it." Robin said "You're not going to eat it?" Viper blinked, laughed and said "I don't think your Navigator will like a dying old man eating around 4 billion beri hahahah" Robin smiled and Nami said "I don't care." The crew and Viper gasped, Nami snapped "What?! He tried this hard to get here he might as well try it." Viper was shocked and said "Who are you?" and the rest of the crew laughed, Robin handed him the fruit, Viper hesitated and said "Are you sure? Although in two days i'll be in the dirt, and you can probably find it again." he chuckled, Luffy waved his hand and said "Just eat it old man shishishi" Viper sighed and took a bite, before saying "Oh my god! That's disgusting. I think I might die early!" Luffy laughed and Viper looked at the fruit and watched as it turned back into a normal fruit, he said "It even turns back! That's cool."

He dropped the fruit and started writhing before turning into a huge feathered snake, Viper turned his head and said "Wow! It even changed my bone structure!" he turned back into the old man and sat down on Franky's shoulder again. Viper said "Honestly thank you, you guys have no idea how much this means to me." The crew smiled and continued.

A day and a half later, they arrived at the middle of the island, Viper looked at what was there and said "That's it?" Luffy was shocked and said "Yeah!" The rest of the crew was amazed at what they saw. Luffy said "We did it! Now we can party!" the rest of the crew cheered and they started partying. Viper smiled as he sat by the crew, he sighed to himself and said "I finally did it. Hydreon, I finally did it." Become he closed his eyes with a smile on his face, and passed away peacefully.

A super bright light flashed and Viper opened his eyes, he sat up and looked around confused. Viper said "Is this what Hell is like?" he heard a voice "Not exactly." Viper turned and saw a man in a white t-shirt and pants, sitting at a table. Viper got up and sat at the table and said "Alright, so please explain to me how I ended up in heaven, instead." the man chuckled and said "Like I said Not exactly, you ARE in heaven, except you're in the heaven of the One Piece world instead of your original world."The man waved his hand and continued "That bastard God in your world, does a pretty bad job, he was going to send you to your original world's hell but I intervened and brought you here. I wish I could see the look on his face right now Hahahahah!" Viper was confused and said "Why did you bring me here? Oh yeah, I'm sure you already know but my name is Viper." the man smiled and said "I'm 'god' I guess, but you can call me Thomas. As for why I brought you here, well although you may have doomed the world, with your pure disregard for making A.I robots" Viper rubbed his head and chuckled sheepishly, Thomas continued "You also saved it by killing Kent, It led to a young man by the name of Hydreon, taking control of the robots and having them rebuild civilization and self destruct all the robots and the A.I you made, leading the world into a brand new age where peace lasted." Thomas smiled.

Viper said "Hydreon?! You don't mean!" Thomas smiled and nodded "Yes, the A.I you called friend was reincarnated for his sacrifice and finally became a real human, so really you saved the world twice." Viper teared up and said "He achieved his dream too, that's great!" Thomas' smile grew wider as he said "You don't care that you saved the world at all? That's some pretty serious Karma points you have there. I'll give you a deal, you can reincarnate into One Piece world" Viper was excited and Thomas continued "But at the cost of ending Hydreon's life prematurely" Viper deflated and said without hesitation "No." Thomas only smiled wider and said "Why not? He doesn't have any children or a wife, nobody will miss him, he will be immortalized as a hero." Viper said "I already accomplished my dream, albeit I missed a lot and would love to go back, but never at the cost of my best friends dream!"

Thomas clapped and said "Excellent!" Viper was confused, and Thomas said "I knew you were a good choice! After all, who would use their whole life on a seemingly impossible dream?" Viper was still confused, Thomas finally said "I'm going to give you another chance, I'll reincarnate you into the One Piece world and you get 3 wishes." Viper was shocked and said "Seriously?!" Thomas nodded and Viper thought about it and said "What's the catch?" Thomas said "Honestly, there is none. I was going to give you one but I thought against it, because I like you, you're exactly like Luffy, albeit way smarter." Viper chuckled and said "Can I change my appearance?" Thomas said "You can do whatever you want, appearance and clothes are not part of the wishes."

Viper nodded and said "I want to be back in my 16 year old body, but up to the physical standards of a healthy and in shape human of the One Piece world, and I want to have a special colored hair." Thomas nodded and Viper continued "For my first wish can I keep the fruit they gave me before I died?" Thomas was intrigued and asked "Why? You could have anything you want." Viper said "It was something from my last moments, and It means a lot to me." Thomas smiled and said "Done, you have two more." Viper said "Does Hydreon have any memories of me?" Thomas sighed and shook his head, Viper sighed and said "Then I want all my memories wiped even this conversation, and all the knowledge of One Piece I should have before Luffy starts his adventure, so basically about devil fruits, the different seas, and marines etc. I don't want any secrets, will that hurt my intelligence?" Thomas said "It won't but can I ask you why? You would already know what happened and can prevent bad situations." Viper smiled and said "It's more fun when you don't know." Thomas smiled and said "Done, One more" Viper frowned and said "Does location count?" Thomas shook his head and Viper said "Well I don't know, more handsome and luck with women that I like?" Thomas laughed and Viper embarrassingly said "I'd like to have a wife in this life." Thomas smiled and said "No problem, What about height, clothes?, where you go, what time?" Viper said "I'd like to be 6'5? Sandals, with swimming shorts, and one of those Kimonos like from Demon Slayer, you can make whatever pattern you want, as for location and time, Rika and her mother's bar about a week before Zoro gets there." Thomas smiled and said "Sure, you'll get a note too, what do you want it to say?" Viper thought and said "My name is Viper, work at this bar and you'll find good friends." Thomas nodded and snapped his fingers saying "You ready?" Viper nodded and the light engulfed him and he disappeared.
