Addressing Concern

So I know I normally don't post on this day, but I would just like to address some concerns that seem to be popping up quite often. Now I usually wouldn't go through the trouble of posting an entire chapter to cover them, but there seemed to be quite a lot of concerns. So I do hope this chapter serves to clear up any misconceptions.

By the way, if you have any major questions going forward - questions that would warrant discussion or questions that would include spoilers - just join the discord server and ask me or my editor there. I'm not opposed to answering questions, it's just that some are not suitable to be answered in the comment section.

Anyway, now let's move on to the questions/concerns that warranted this chapter.

1) Naming:

So the first thing I would like to address is Achilles' name. Some people are dissatisfied with the order in which it is written/enunciated. The reason for that specific order will be clarified in an upcoming chapter.

To clarify, all usages of Achilles' name have been written as Achilles. D. Spade, whereas any other character has been written as the last name first, and the first name last. As previously mentioned the reasoning for this will be clarified in an upcoming chapter.

2) Word Count:

Now onto the next concern, and I'll be honest, I was kind of surprised that so many people had a problem with this. This scrutiny is the word count for the chapters.

The, first and foremost reason I have for the 'short' word count is life. My editor and I both have a life outside this fanfiction, believe it or not, and spending over three hours (which is how long it takes for a 2k+ word chapter) a day working on a chapter is just not feasible, especially when you factor in school and other outside sources.

Next, after spending some time going through all 33 chapters, I have come to the realization that there are only three chapters with 800 words or less; the rest of the chapters all have way more words. Especially when you consider the fact that most of the recent chapters have grown exponentially in word count.

Lastly, I would like to mention for most of my chapters I try and follow a pattern. Chapters that have no real plot, or are just slice of life tend to be shorter because I do not want to bore you guys. Chapters that build up to important events, or help the plot grow tend to be longer than the previous category, and these chapters are usually around 1200 words to 1700 words. Finally, there are the chapters that have major plot events happen, essentially these are the chapters that deal with the climaxes of certain events; these chapters tend to have 1800 words or more.

3) Power Scaling:

The third major concern people have brought up, is this story's Power Scaling. Someone (who I won't mention) thought that Achilles was easily at Vice-Admiral level, and his father was at Yonko level. I cannot even begin to describe how wrong this is.

So first how people have come to the conclusion that Chiron is that powerful I have no clue. This man legit has no feats at all except for beating Achilles, which isn't all that impressive. Like seriously this guy has done nothing, even less than Shanks has done in the manga/anime.

Now onto the man of the hour, Achilles. This man has simply awakened observation haki (and even then is unable to use it all the time), and he knows the 6 powers. That's it. Legit nothing else. He's beaten people yes, but they were weak AF, and none of them can even begin to compare to a Vice-Admiral or anyone of the sort.

In simple terms, Achilles is insignificant right now. And that's how it should be, the whole point of this story is to show how each sea molds and shapes Achilles' character, and power level. He's only been cruising through the North Blue because one it's laughably weak, and two because he hasn't fought any real strong opponents as of yet.

4) Character Development:

Now for this category, there really haven't been too many complaints, but there have been some. Due to the lack of mass comments, I won't take too much time addressing it. I'm of course talking about Character Development.

Character Development is something that is essential to each story, depending on how it is done, it can make or break a character. For this story, the whole point of it is how a newly transmigrated guy with all the normal morals of our world becomes someone who is willing to kill and do what is necessary for his survival.

That is just the initial development though. The story then progresses to how each sea shapes Achilles' character, something I haven't been able to fully flesh out as we are still in the first sea. And lastly how different characters help Achilles' character develop, and help their own character development. Again something that I haven't been able to fully write as we barely have any crew members as of yet.

Character Development is something I do take seriously especially when it comes to this story, so you will most definitely see a lot of it in the future.

5) Timeline:

Now only one person has explicitly mentioned this, but it did kind of annoy me so I decided since I was already writing this chapter, I might as well just throw it in here.

When it comes to the timeline of this story I specifically chose it because it allows for creative freedom. This timeline is something that hasn't yet been fully explored in the manga, so it allows the author (in this case me) to do whatever they want, as long as they follow certain guidelines that have already been set by Oda.

This is the beauty of fanfiction, the ability to add - and I emphasize - your own spin to an already incredible world. This is the reason I wrote this fanfiction, so I could show an alternate universe that I would have loved to see as a spin-off about.

That is why even if things in the manga change something that has been previously established in this fanfiction, it changes nothing because that is the point of fanfiction; to establish something new, and never done before within that world.
